Frances E. Smith
Frances Elnora Smith, 84, died Feb. 12, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Indianapolis, Ind., daughter of the late Carroll and Nora (Hamilton) Myers.
She was united in marriage to Elmer William Smith July 22, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Greenville Health Care for the last eight years.
She was well-known in the Silva area, having worked at Barber's Cash Store for more than 15 years.
Before moving to Missouri, she had been employed by RCA in Indianapolis.
She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, working in the yard and she spent countless hours creating works of art with her embroidery needles. She was of the Pentecost faith.
She is survived by three sons, Harry (Mary) Smith, Galena, Kan., Gary (Trish) Smith, Charles (Irma) Smith, all of Poplar Bluff; five daughters, Mary (Bob) Cornwall, Danville, Ind., Suetta Dyer, Silva, Ica (Dennis) Talley, Poplar Bluff, Billie (Steve) Kelley, Des Arc, Deanna (Bill) Smith, Patterson; 39 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one son, Andy C. Smith, two brothers, Ralph and Robert Myers, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral was held Feb. 15 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Louie Robinson officiating.
Serving their grandmother as pallbearers were Jessie Dyer, Justin Dyer, Charley, Charles and Ronnie Smith and Bobby Cornwell.
Burial was in New Prospect Cemetery, Silva.
Joann C. Sutton
Joann C. Sutton, 64, died Feb. 9, 2005, in Bonne Terre, Mo.
She was born May 18, 1940, in Des Arc, Mo., daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Booher) Brewer.
She was united in marriage to Roger Sutton April 23, 1960, and to this union, two children were born.
Mrs. Sutton was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend, a truly wonderful person, who would open her heart and home to anyone in need.
She was a Christian and had done some factory work.
She is survived by her dear friend, Roger Sutton, St. Louis; one daughter, Deborah (Tom) O'Hara, Bonne Terre; one son, Ron Sutton, House Springs; one brother, Harold Brewer, Park Hills; one sister, Betty Pennington, Vulcan; one half-brother, Bill Brewer, Piedmont; two half-sisters, Doris Brooks, Des Arc, Sadie Adams, Fenton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Est, Joseph and Jamie O'Hara.
She was preceded in death by six half-brothers, William, Roger and Bob Lashley, Alfred, Leonard and Claude A. Brewer, two half-sisters, Katherine Beucke and Besse Huff.
The funeral was held Feb. 12 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. Tim Adams officiating.
Pallbearers were Ryan Middleton, Todd Middleton, Walt Redecker, Gilbert Coleman, William Rupp and Stanley Brooks.
Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc.
Sandra Lashley
Sandra Lee Lashley, 55, died Feb. 5, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born Oct. 19, 1949, in Newport, R.I., daughter of Phyllis (Mosher) Mulligan, who survives and resides in Houlton, Maine, and the late John Thomas Mulligan.
She was united in marriage to Jack Allan Lashley June 28, 1969, and he preceded her in death April 17, 2004.
Mrs. Lashley was employed as a certified nursing assistant for Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown.
She was president of Southern District Fire Board of Iron County.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, Jack Lashley Jr., Jared Lashley, both of Des Arc, Brandon Lashley, Patterson; five daughters, Amy Lashley, Tara Lashley, both of Des Arc, Audra Lashley, Tammy Trent, both of Vulcan, Amanda Kelley, Pilot Knob; one brother, Thomas Mulligan; two sisters, Jo Shaw, Greenfield, Mass., Connie Foss, Houlton, Maine; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Feb. 10 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. C.J. Casteel officiating.
The eulogy was delivered by her daughter, Tammy Trent.
Pallbearers were Jason, Justin, Andy and Ben German, Tyler Polk and Kyle Polk.
Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc.
Wendi A. Garren
Wendi Ann Garren, 35, died Feb. 11, 2005, in Berryville, Ark.
She was born May 14, 1969, in Upland, Calif.
Ms. Garren had worked as a certified nursing assistant at Berryville Hospital and Eureka Springs Nursing Home.
She had lived with her father, Ted Garren of Piedmont, and attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mary and Hubert Burnette, Eureka Springs, Ark.; one brother, Randy Garren, Victorville, Calif.; one sister, Connie Gunterman, Holliday Island, Ark.; one niece, Jehna Gunterman, Piedmont; one nephew, Tim Garren, Victorville, Calif.; two aunts, Lois Lemmons, Roberta Givney, both of California.
The graveside service was held Feb. 14 at Masonic Cemetery with Rev. W. Michael Woods officiating.
Pallbearers were Bobby Goodman, Rusty Myers, Matt Eaton, Linda Hein, Tom Toney and Hubert Burnette.
Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont.
Sarah G. Hume
Sarah G. Hume, 87, died Feb. 9, 2005, at Callaway Community Hospital in Fulton, Mo.
She was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Columbia, Mo., daughter of the late D.S. and Elizabeth (Carter) Glenn.
She was united in marriage to James Monroe Hume March 3, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Hume retired from Fulton State Hospital after 25 years of service.
She was a life member of the VFW and was an avid antique collector.
She is survived by one son, Glenn (Kay) Taylor, Katy, Texas; three daughters, Barbara (Ken) Hammon, Fulton, Mary Ann Parr, Branson, Freda (Bill) Hankins, Quincy, Ill.; one brother, John Glenn, Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Feb. 14 at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating.
Burial was in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Hazel E. Hume
Hazel E. Hume, of Rolla, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center at the age of 83 years.
She was the daughter of the late John and Ina (Fannon) Davis, born July 7, 1917.
Hazel was married to William J. Hume on April 13, 1941; he preceded her in death on April 6, 1990.
Survivors of Hazel Hume include two brothers, Gerald Davis, of Vichy, and George Davis, of Vienna; sister Wilma Long, of Granite City, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at the Lower Davis Cemetery in rural Rolla.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
Mary M. Dunvant
Mary M. Dunavant, 77, died Feb. 15, 2005, in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born March 15, 1927, in Greenville, Mo., daughter of the late Luther and Ona Twidwell.
She was united in marriage to Roy G. Dunavant and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dunavant was raised in Patterson and lived in Piedmont before moving to St. Louis in 1968.
She is survived by five children, Mary Allen, Arnold, Johnny Wiederman, St. Louis, Robert (Lana) Woods, Imperial, Sue (Gary) Jackson, St. Louis, Ruth Hays, St. Paul; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Susan Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Baumann Colonial Chapel in Overland.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont.
John M. Willard
John M. Willard, 69, formerly of Wayne County, died Feb. 13, 2005, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Mo.
He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Wayne County, Mo.
Mr. Willard graduated from Greenville High School in 1953.
He was a retired, self-employed businessman and the crew chief for his family's race team.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Pattie Willard, Kansas, Susan Adams, Grand Island, Neb.; seven sons, Lloyd Willard, Westphalia, Kan., John Willard Jr., Poplar Bluff, Joseph Willard, Osawatomie, Kan., Matthew Willard, Alan Willard, both of St. Joseph, Jeff Johnston, Greeley, Kan., David Johnston, Blue Mound, Kan.; four sisters, Dorothy Whittier, Geneva Kisner, both of Poplar Bluff, Mattie Skibinski, Linda Lombardo, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, William Willard, James Willard, both of Irondale, Larry Willard, Imperial, Gary Willard, Williamsville; 30 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Feb. 16 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, Poplar Bluff.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Butler County.
