Maurice Johnson
Services for Maurice F. Johnson, 82, 2212 S. Florida Ave., who died Sunday, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
The Rev. John H. Roeder will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Masonic services will be conducted by members of Joplin Lodge No. 335.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the Shrine Travel Fund or to Byers Avenue United Methodist Church.
George McMillen
George Wesley McMillen, 85, Ventura, Calif., a former Joplin resident, died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 1996, at Community Memorial Hospital, Ventura, after a short illness.
Mr. McMillen was born Jan. 23, 1911, at El Dorado Springs. He moved to Joplin from El Dorado Springs when he was 7. He moved in 1946 to the state of California, where he was an oil driller for 30 years and a member of Local 12, Operating Engineers union. He lived in Carl Junction from 1973 to about 1977. He moved to Santa Paula, Calif., in the late 1970s.
His wife, the former Mildred Williams, preceded him in death.
He married Clara Denton on March 18, 1967, at Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.
Also surviving are a niece whom he raised, Shirley Haley, Oakview, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Georgia Shrum, Ventura, Calif., and Judy Webber, Ojai, Calif.; a stepson, Clifford Denton, Aurora, Colo.; nine stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-stepgrandchildren.
Services were conducted Nov. 1 at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula. Burial was in Santa Paula Cemetery.
Bonnie DeHaven
Bonnie K. West DeHaven, 48, 201 N. Wall Ave., died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, at her home after a short illness.
Mrs. DeHaven was born May 22, 1948, at Trenton, Mich. She moved to Joplin in 1969 from Michigan. She worked at LaBarge in Joplin. She was a member of Teamsters Union No. 823, Joplin.
She married Waymond DeHaven on Nov. 27, 1992, at Galena, Kan. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Kallie Hooker, Carl Junction; her mother, Gertrude Henry, address unavailable; a brother, Gary Rodgers, Joplin; three sisters, Jean Parks and Darlene Tucker, both of Joplin, and Denise Lee, Carl Junction; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Charlie Walker, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Joplin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Wayne Grimmett
Graveside services for Leo "Wayne" Grimmett, 73, 102 E. Second St., who died Dec. 19, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Lester Nutting will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Vera Poe
Vera E. Poe, Joplin, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Poe was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved in 1945 to Joplin from Kansas City. She was a bookkeeper and credit manager from 1945 to 1965 at Joplin Auto Supply. She attended Wildwood Baptist Church, rural Joplin.
She married Lewie Poe on Jan. 10, 1929, in Joplin. He died April 18, 1945.
Surviving are a son, David Poe, Joplin; a grandson, and two great- granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary. The Rev. Brent Davis and the Rev. Chuck Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Elmer Rossman
Elmer C. Rossman, 59, Joplin route 7, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after several months of ill health.
Mr. Rossman was born Oct. 22, 1937, at Baxter Springs, Kan. He attended Baxter Springs schools. He moved to Joplin five years ago from the state of North Carolina. He served in the Marine Corps. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Rossman and Terry Rossman, both of the state of North Carolina; three daughters, Evelyn Rossman, Elaine Rossman and Beverly Rossman, all of the state of North Carolina; two brothers, Joseph Rossman, North Miami, Okla., and Franklin Rossman, Joplin route 10; two sisters, Betty Hall and Imogene Arnold, both of Joplin; and several grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Parker Mortuary.
Barbara Snyder
Barbara A. Boucher Snyder, 39, Sanford, Fla., a former Joplin resident, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4, 1997, at her home of a sudden illness.
Mrs. Snyder was born April 25, 1957, in Joplin. She moved to Florida in 1989. She was graduated in 1975 from the former Joplin Parkwood High School. She was a truck driver for Southeastern Container in Florida and was a former horse trainer. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church, DeLand, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Randall "Randy" Snyder; a son, James Ryan Willard, of the home; her mother, Lenny Love, Joplin; her father, Allen Boucher, Diamond; and a brother, Eugene "Gene" Love Jr., Gaston, N.C.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at United Pentecostal Church, DeLand.
