Faye McLemore
GREENFIELD, Mo. - Faye K. McLemore, 90, Greenfield, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, at a nursing home in Greenfield after an illness.
Mrs. McLemore was born Aug. 11, 1906, in Lawrence County. She was a retired school teacher.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Greenfield and United Methodist Women.
She married Ralph McLemore in 1945 in Greenfield. He died in 1960.
Survivors include a sister, Bertie McConnell, Greenfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
Iris Mosley
NEOSHO, Mo. - Iris Angel Mosley, infant daughter of Heather Thompson and Justin Allen Mosley, both of Neosho, died at birth at 7:51 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin.
Additional survivors include maternal grandparents, Wayne Thompson and Patricia Thompson, both of Neosho; paternal grandfather, Mark Mosley, Neosho; and paternal great-grandparents, Gene and Ella Mosley, Neosho.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin. The Rev. Alan Brock will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Wendel Pettibon
NEVADA, Mo. - Wendel Durwood Pettibon, 74, El Dorado Springs, died Monday night, Jan. 6, 1997, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado Springs, after a sudden illness. He was the father of Larry W. Pettibon, Nevada.
Mr. Pettibon was born June 8, 1922, at Deerfield. He worked as a plant manager for MFA Plant Foods in El Dorado Springs for 21 years. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of Sylvandale Baptist Church in Vernon County and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Ethel Mae Wolfe on July 7, 1944, at Fort Scott, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include another son, Ronald Pettibon, El Dorado Springs; three daughters, Carolyn Alexander, Judy McGuirk and Lana Gray, all of El Dorado Springs; a brother, Quentin Pettibon, Nevada; two sisters, Eloise Nelson and Marvel Beerbower, both of Fort Scott; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Burial will be in Deerfield (Mo.) Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Kathleen Presley
MONETT, Mo. - Kathleen Ann Presley, 89, Costa Mesa, Calif., a former Monett resident, died at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, at a nursing home in Costa Mesa after a long illness.
Mrs. Presley was born Dec. 25, 1907, at Crane. She was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated the Plaza Motel in Monett for several years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monett.
She married James Presley on May 29, 1926, at Bentonville, Ark. He died Oct. 4, 1987.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Presley, New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Betty Hartell, Norfolk, Va., and Nancy Sanders, Albuquerque, N.M.; and 12 grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
Ellen Rumsfeld
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Ellen A. Rumsfeld, 88, Carthage route 5, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Rumsfeld was born July 6, 1908, at Alicia, Ark. She lived and worked for more than 40 years as a telephone operator at Chicago, Ill. She retired in 1964. She moved in June 1984 to Carthage. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church, Carthage.
She married Herbert Rumsfeld on July 4, 1964, in Chicago. He died in 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Birdsall, Carthage route 5; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The Rev. Charles Chrisman will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery, south of Carthage.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Louis Sitz
NEVADA, Mo. - Louis Herman Sitz, 80, Nevada, died Monday night, Jan. 6, 1997, at a Nevada nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Sitz was born Nov. 24, 1916, in Ellis County, Kan. He moved to Vernon County in 1960. He was a farmer. He retired in 1979. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nevada.
He married Ruth May Sloan on July 7, 1938, at Russell, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Ernest Hugh Sitz, Nevada, and Edward Louis Sitz, Liberty; a daughter, Laurie Gold, Joplin; a sister, Elgerine Elliott, Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nevada. The Rev. Helmuth Eisenbraun will officiate. Burial will be in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
Friends may call until 1 p.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nevada.
Carl Colvin
Carl C. Colvin, 82, Joplin, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Colvin was born Sept. 28, 1914, at Columbus, Kan. He was a lifetime resident of the area. For more than 20 years, he was a clerk at the former Jamison Drug Co. in downtown Joplin. He also was employed at Ramsey's Department Store. He retired in 1976.
He was a member of Westside Christian Church.
On June 5, 1934, he married Evelyn M. Burton at Columbus, Kan. She died Oct. 1, 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Carlene Jurino, Joplin; a sister, Zelma Hartl, Joplin, and one grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary. Gene Hutchcraft, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
