Faye Payne
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Faye Emma Payne, 83, Carthage, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.
Mrs. Payne was born April 14, 1913, at Bowers Mills. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a retired office clerk for State Farm Insurance. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She married Leonard W. Payne on July 2, 1932, in Kansas City. He died Sept. 26, 1984.
She is survived by a son, James L. Payne, Kansas City; a sister, Della D. Johnson, Carthage; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ulmer Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Sutter will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
Cecil Woods
Cecil L. Woods, 92, 2311 Iron Gates Road, died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after several years of ill health.
Mr. Woods was born July 8, 1904, at Mount Vernon. He lived in Joplin most of his life. He worked for the former Purkett Manufacturing Co. in Joplin for several years and also had worked as a dairy farmer and a miner. He retired in 1969.
He was a member of Iron Gates Christian Church, where he had served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a former member of the Oklahoma National Guard.
He married Mamie Marie Duncan on Dec. 24, 1927, in Joplin. She died Sept. 7, 1996.
Survivors include four sons, Lawrence Woods and Paul Woods, both of Joplin, Donald Woods, Kansas City, and Charles Woods, Demotte, Ind.; three daughters, Georgia Harmon, Joplin, Betty Terry, Duenweg, and Patty Turley, Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Olive Bennett, Tulsa, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Ron McMillan and Hubert Hinten, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Georgia Harmon, 3404 W. 24th St.

Oda Brinker
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Oda M. Brinker, 96, Carthage, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Brinker was born Jan. 26, 1900, at Newtonia. She moved in 1920 to Carthage. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Carthage.
She married Clyde Brinker on June 18, 1921, in Carthage. He died Oct. 7, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Clyde Brinker Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Willetta Wofford, Golden Valley, Minn.; two sisters, Beatrice Howell and Easie Wright, both of Carthage; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The Rev. Ray Crews will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Carthage.
Everette Easley
EAGLE ROCK, Mo. - Everette Morse Easley, 84, Rogers, Ark., formerly of Eagle Rock, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in a Rogers nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Easley was born Sept. 11, 1912, at Eagle Rock. He was educated at Victor School, near Eagle Rock. He was a cattle rancher. He was active in the Mano community, where he had served as Democratic chairperson. He had lived in Rogers for the past 13 years.
He married Lucille B. Brock on Jan. 23, 1932, at Galena, Mo. She died Dec. 26, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Hutton, Rogers; a brother, Henry Easley, Claremore, Okla.; a sister, Minnie Williamson, Cassville; two grandchildren;and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Horner Cemetery, Cassville. The Rev. Jeff Hutton will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Friends may call after noon today.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
Ruby Evans
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Ruby C. Evans, 67, Cushing, Okla., a native of Carthage, died at 2:08 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, at McCune-Brooks Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Mrs. Evans was born April 4, 1929, at Carthage. She moved in 1947 to Tulsa, Okla. She was graduated from Central High School at Tulsa. She was a member of Cushing United Methodist Church.
She married J. Paul Evans on Feb. 4, 1949, at Tulsa. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Emmett Evans, Branson, Ernest Evans, San Antonio, Texas, John Evans, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Tom Evans, Midland, Texas; two brothers, Everett Treat, Catoosa, Okla., and Larry Treat, Tulsa; three sisters, Bonnie Jackson and Ralphetta Dill, both of Tulsa, and Judy Tidwell, Medford, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Butler-Stumpff Mortuary at Tulsa. Burial was in Floral Haven Cemetery at Broken Arrow, Okla.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Knell Mortuary at Carthage.
Morse McConnaughey
NEVADA, Mo. - Morse Wilmot McConnaughey, 68, Nevada, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at his home of an apparent suicide.
Mr. McConnaughey was born July 25, 1928, at Richards. He lived in the Nevada area most of his life. He worked for the City of Nevada as superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment Plant for 35 years. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Elks Lodge No. 564 of Nevada.
He married Mary Jane Estes on April 29, 1950, in Nevada. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Terry McConnaughey, Butler; a daughter, Marsha Ann Urner, St. Louis; a brother, Eugene McConnaughey, El Dorado Springs; two sisters, Virginia Moberly, Nevada, and Dorothy Pettibon, Deerfield; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ferry Funeral Home. The Rev. Greg Ferree will officiate. Burial will be in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Roy White
NEOSHO, Mo. - Roy E. White, 82, 804 Freeman Road, died at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a three-year illness.
Mr. White was born Feb. 11, 1914, at Newtonia. He was a lifelong Neosho resident. He was employed several years at Rocketdyne, Neosho. He was director of maintenance with the Neosho R-5 School District and retired after 12 years.He was a volunteer devotional leader at Neosho Senior Center for 30 years.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, Neosho.
He married Cordelia Hale on June 13, 1934. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Cotton, Neosho, and Susan Showalter, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Gibson Cemetery, Neosho. The Rev. Tom Casady and the Rev. Terry Swagerty will officiate.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Pallbearers will be Brent Cotton, Jeff Cotton, Mikell Cotton, Casey Cotton and Rick Lake.
