Jesse Crandall
Jesse W. Crandall, 47, 2706 E. Seventh St., died at 10:06 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at the Freeman Hospital West emergency room after suffering a heart attack at the former Sears Plaza.
Mr. Crandall was born Feb. 11, 1949, in Joplin. He was a lifetime Joplin resident. He was a roofer with Crandall Roofing Co.
He married Margie Bird on June 3, 1967, in Joplin. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Tim Crandall, of the home; three daughters, Kathy Brown and Jessica Dodge, both of Joplin, and Tina Williams, Webb City; three brothers, Ron Crandall and Leon Crandall, both of Joplin, andBill Crandall, Seymore; two sisters, Martha Crandall, Joplin, and Mary Martin, Parsons, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
The body will be cremated and memorial services are pending.
Shang McWilliams
Memorial services for Shang L. McWilliams, 77, Joplin, who died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Parker Mortuary chapel.
The Rev. Travis Terry will officiate.
Edith Skaggs
Edith Reynolds Skaggs, 79, 4611 E. 25th St., died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Skaggs was born Aug. 21, 1917, at Wentworth. She had lived in Wentworth all of her life until she moved to Joplin in 1990.
She was graduated from Sarcoxie High School.
She was a longtime member of VanBuren Baptist Church, near Wentworth. She was also a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, Joplin.
She married Harold Skaggs on Nov. 24, 1946, at Wentworth. He died on Jan. 3, 1993.
Survivors include a son, Dale Skaggs, Granby; a daughter, Karen Reeve, Joplin; a sister, Velma Fetters, Diamond; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin, with the Rev. Brent Davis officiating. Burial will be in VanBuren Cemetery, near Wentworth.
Pallbearers will be Bill Fetters, Dar Morgan, Will Gripka, Joe Robb, Wayne Lawson and Jim Millard.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Olga Tarnowieckyi
Olga Tarnowieckyi, 88, 719 St. Louis Ave., died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at her home after a short illness.
Mrs. Tarnowieckyi was born Oct. 25, 1908, in the Ukraine. She was a longtime Joplin resident who moved here in 1952 from the Ukraine. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Joplin. She was a homemaker.
She married Nikolai Tarnowieckyi on April 1, 1936, in the Ukraine. He died May 30, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Siegfried Tarnowieckyi, Webb City, and Octavian Tarnowieckyi, Springfield; two daughters, Eleanor Blazer, Summerville, S.C., and Oresia Tarnowieckyi, Culver City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Leonard Chambers will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Siegfried Tarnowieckyi, Octavian Tarnowieckyi, Chris Tarnowieckyi, Scott Tarnowieckyi, Kenny Trenberth and Mark Tendai.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
Clida Cantwell
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Clida Cantwell, 84, Cassville, died at 1:06 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a short illness.
Mr. Cantwell was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Barry County. He was a lifelong Barry County resident and he lived on the same farm his entire life. He attended a Pasley (Mo.) school and a Washburn (Mo.) school. He was a farmer and had worked for Roaring River State Park. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville.
He married Wilma De Cocq on July 4, 1940, in Newton County. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Bob Cantwell, Washburn; four daughters, Bette Mitchell, Independence, and Bonnie Miller, Beverly Ledenham and Brenda Epperly, all of Cassville; a sister, Goldie Fulton, Exeter; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Bob Neeley and the Rev. Billy McCall will officiate. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery in Cassville.
Pallbearers will be Brian Mitchell, Kevin Cantwell, Ward Miller, Bradley Epperly, Andrew Miller, Joel Bryant, Artie Koehler, Nathan Graves and Johnny Parker.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
George Collins
LAMAR, Mo. - George William Collins, 85, Lamar, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness.
Mr. Collins was born Feb. 12, 1911, at Osceola. He had lived in the Lamar area for several years.
He had worked for Stewart Hall Co., Kansas City.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" Collins, Independence; a daughter, Teresa Coffer, Independence; a brother, Virgil Collins, Pineville, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, with the Rev. James Coffer officiating.
Friends may call after noon today at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.
Jeannette Fullerton
MONETT, Mo. - Jeannette Heimbaugh Fullerton, 83, Monett, died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.
Mrs. Fullerton was born June 22, 1913, in Monett. She was a retired special education teacher. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Monett, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She married Howard Fullerton on June 25, 1937, at Danville, Ill. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Howard Fullerton, Washington, D.C., Bill Fullerton, Klamath Falls, Ore., and Dan Fullerton, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Jeannette Cleaver, Purdy; three brothers, Hays Heimbaugh, Schaumburg, Ill., John Heimbaugh, Omaha, Neb., and James Heimbaugh, Palm Springs, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. The Rev. Wayne Adcock will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Coulterville (Ill.) Cemetery.
