Dorthy Stone
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Dorthy A. Stone, 69, Carthage, died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mrs. Stone was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Jasper County. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a retired worker of Safeway Cheese. She was a member of Purcell Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, Carthage.
She married Arthur Stone on Sept. 1, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. He died in April 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Stone, Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and Bill Stone, state of Missouri; a daughter, Debby Knight, Gretna, La.; four brothers, John Ogle, Carthage, Bob Ogle, Alba, Jerry Ogle, Jasper, and Fred Ogle, Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Belva Hill, Linden, Ala., and Noma Smith, Clarksville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage. The Rev. Ralph Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.
Pallbearers will be John Ogle, Tom Ogle, Jason Ogle, Jim Ogle, Jerry Ogle and Tim Smith.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Sarah Voll
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Sarah May Voll, 89, 617 E. Third St., Carthage, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at a Neosho nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Voll was born July 28, 1907, in Culbertson, Neb. She was raised in Junction City, Kan. She moved to Pineville in 1927 and to Carthage in 1945.
She married Andrew Voll on Dec. 28, 1939, in Joplin. He died June 17, 1975.
She is survived by one sister, Lydia Baldwin, Carthage.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Park Cemetery, Carthage, with Jim Poland, minister, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Roberta Kenoyer
Roberta Kenoyer, 89, 201 Northpark Lane, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. Kenoyer was born Feb. 26, 1907, at Anthony, Kan. She lived in Hugoton, Kan., from 1931 to 1961 where she assisted her husband in his medical practice. She also supervised a farming operation in Hugoton. She moved to Joplin in 1961 and became a dorm mother at Ozark Christian College, serving 26 years until retiring in 1987.
She was a graduate of Pittsburg (Kan.) State University. She attended Ozark Christian College and was awarded a certificate of ministry from the college on May 16, 1987.
She was a member of the North Joplin Christian Church. She was a former member of the Christian Church in Hugoton, where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hugoton.
Her husband, Dr. William Kenoyer, died in March 1952.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Ray Kenoyer, Dodge City, Kan.; two daughters, Dr. Gayle Kenoyer, Durban, South Africa, and Patricia Dion, Visalia, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Ozark Christian College Chapel. Gary Reed, Paul Butler, Don Earl Boatman, Allen Brintnall and David Shepper, ministers, will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the services.
Additional services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Church in Hugoton, Kan., with Max Johnson, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin, and Paul's Funeral Service, Hugoton.
Contributions may be made to the Lord's Reapers Mission Group at Ozark Christian College.
Leah Bentley
PIERCE CITY, Mo. - Leah Bentley, 78, Pierce City route 2, died at 10:49 a.m. January 24, 1997, at Cox Monett Hospital, Monett, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Bentley was born March 17, 1918, at Hill City, Kan. She moved to Pierce City in 1935. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughter, Jeanette Gripka, Pierce City, and Glenda Hawkins, Ritchey; a brother, Raymond Overstreet, Pierce City route 2; four granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Clear Creek Cemetery, near Pierce City. The Rev. Doug Gripka will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.
Contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes, in care of the funeral home.
Clida Cantwell
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Services for Clida Cantwell, 84, Cassville, who died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, will be at 2 p.m. today at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
The Rev. Bob Neeley and the Rev. Billy McCall will officiate. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.
Pallbearers will be Brian Mitchell, Kevin Cantwell, Ward Miller, Bradley Epperly, Andrew Miller, Joel Bryant, Artie Koehler, Nathan Graves and Johnny Parker.
Additional survivors include a brother, Tiff Cantwell, Washburn.
Dana Chester-Pierce
GRANBY, Mo. - Dana Maree Chester-Pierce, 33, Columbia, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at her home after an apparent suicide. Her father, Dr. C. Preston Chester, Branson, is a former Granby resident.
The death is under investigation by the Boone County coroner.
Mrs. Chester-Pierce was born May 1, 1963, at Kirksville. She was a junior high school teacher in Columbia.
Additional survivors include a son, Kyle Pierce, Columbia; her mother, Karen Charlene Chester, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Karen Michelle Chester, Austin, Texas; a half brother, Tim Clary, Palm Bay, Fla.; and two half sisters, Racquel Clary and Jamie Clary, both of Palm Bay.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Granby (Mo.) Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
Ernest Enfield
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Ernest J. Enfield, 87, Cassville, died at 8:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 1997, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after a short illness.
Mr. Enfield was born Oct. 9, 1909, at St. Joseph. He lived in Kansas City before moving to Barry County in 1939. He had lived in the Golden area about 30 years before moving to Cassville two years ago to live with a daughter. He was a poultry grower and had worked as service manager for Norris Grain Company, Monett, before retiring.
He was a member of Golden (Mo.) Baptist Church.
He married Annamae Ayres in January 1931. She died in February 1992.
Survivors include two sons, David Enfield, Wellsville, Kan., and Ernie Enfield, Stilwell, Kan.; two daughters, Jackie Bowman, Cassville, and Jodi Williams, Bella Vista, Ark.; a brother, Steve Enfield, Kingman, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Bill Dudley will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
