Kathryn Tatum
ANDERSON, Mo. - Kathryn Grace Pickens Tatum, 70, Anderson, died at 5:38 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Tatum was born Dec. 19, 1926, at Neosho. She graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, and attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan., where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She had lived in Anderson since 1953, where she was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter DL; the Daughters of the American Revolution; Friends of the Crowder College Library board of directors; and First Baptist Church, Anderson. She served on several civic committees, including Mercy Children's Hospital Advisory Board. She initiated a support group for families of armed services members during the Gulf War. She worked in the Ladies' ready-to-wear department of the Tatum Mercantile Co. for many years.
She married James B. Tatum on Dec. 20, 1947, at Joplin. He survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Susan Tatum, Dallas, Texas, and Kathy Davis, Springfield; two sons, James P. Tatum, Fort Belvoir, Va., and David P. Tatum, Evanston, Ill.; five grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson, with the Rev. Bill Masters and Lisa Tatum officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Anderson, Paul Lewis, Joe Pogue, Paul Harber, Mark Danuser and Jamie Tatum.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the Crowder College Foundation or Friends of the Crowder College Library in care of the funeral home.
Patsy Curtis
Patsy Ruth Curtis, 72, 4187 Dolphin Ave., died at 1:38 p.m. Friday, January 23, 1998, at her home after a two-year illness.
Mrs. Curtis was born Nov. 15, 1925, at Sikeston. She moved to Diamond in 1978 and then to Joplin in 1994. She was a member of Diamond Baptist Church, the Sam Davis Eastern Star Lodge, Smyrna, Tenn., and the AirForce 55th Fighter Group Reunion.
She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school at the church for many years.
She married Rueben Flake Curtis on Jan. 21, 1942, at Piggot, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Gary S. Curtis, Joplin; a daughter, Leatha Ann Smith, Joplin, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. The Rev. Greg Snow will officiate. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Beptasso, Dennis Smith, Scott Smith, Jace Ellis, Ben Bliler and David Yen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Contributions may be made to the St. Johns Hospice program.
Jerry Diduch
Jerry Diduch, 67, Mobile, Ala., formerly of Joplin, died at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Providence Hospital, Mobile, after an illness.
Mr. Diduch was born April 16, 1930, at Chicago, Ill. He lived in Joplin for 8Ť years, later moving to Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Diduch, Mobile; a son, Steven Diduch, Chicago; and three grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today at at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Mobile.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pine Crest Funeral Home, Mobile.
Louis Burrow
NEOSHO, Mo. _ Louis Newton Burrow, 84, Neosho, died at 8:09 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Burrow was born July 12, 1913, in Newton County, and was a lifetime area resident. He worked at Wolfe Milling Company and Ratliff Feed before purchasing Burrow Trucking Company. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of Neosho First Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee.
He married Della G. Bolin on June 29, 1932. She died May 17, 1972. He married Elaine Whittlesey on April 7, 1973. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Ladean Reed and Janice Pruitt, both of Neosho; a son, Bennie Burrow, Neosho; two stepsons, Brent Whittlesey, Gladstone, and Craig Whittlesey, Granby; a stepdaughter, Denise Strong, Weatherby; a brother, Leonard Burrow, Gladstone; a sister, Lucille Miller, Carthage; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, with the Rev. Merrill Kluhsman, the Rev. James Schnackenberg and the Rev. Terry Swagerty officiating. Burial will be in Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
Grandsons Greg Reed, Kevin Pruitt, Lyndall Burrow, Michael Whittlesey, Bryan Whittlesey, James Whittlesey and Charles Anthony Strong will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today sat and after noon Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
John Crawford
PIERCE CITY, Mo. _ John Crawford, 90, Pierce City, died at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Cox Monett Hospital after an illness.
Mr. Crawford was born was March 17, 1907, in Newton County. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, near Pierce City.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Crawford, Pierce City; and a sister, Virginia Mae McKinny, Joplin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City. Bill Harvill and Charles Canady, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery, near Pierce City.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Southern Baptist Children's Home at Mount Vernon.
Eula Eubanks
NEOSHO, Mo. _ Eula Mae Eubanks, 82, Twin Falls, Idaho, a former Neosho-area resident, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Eubanks was born Sept. 12, 1915, at Fayetteville, Ark. She grew up in Newton County and lived in Alaska and California. She returned to Newton County and then moved to Twin Falls about 20 years ago.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She married Carlos Freeland Eubanks on May 2, 1940, at Neosho. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Buck Eubanks, Smokey Eubanks and Jim Eubanks, all of the state of Alaska; two daughters, Wanda Skelton, Hansen, Idaho and Connie Vipperman, Twin Falls, a step-daughter Carol Hagen, Kennewick, Wash.; a brother, Paul Phillips, Duenweg; a sister, Christina Turner, Joplin, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at White Mortuary, Twin Falls. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to Friends of Hospice, North Twin Falls, Idaho.
Paul Lawson
NEOSHO, Mo. _ Paul Victor Lawson, 68, Neosho, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at his home after a 2Ť year illness.
Mr. Lawson was born Oct. 24, 1929, at Grinnell, Iowa. He moved to the Neosho area in 1972 from Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a building contractor and an antique dealer. He retired from the construction industry in 1989. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1953.
He was a member of Calvary Holiness Church, Neosho, where he was a lay minister.
He married Viola Bauer on Aug. 20, 1954, at Iowa City, Iowa. She survives.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Jeanette Rae Toeppe, Springhill, Fla., Paula Bele Sorensen, Runnells, Iowa, and Angela Joanne Medlock, Neosho; a son, Kenneth Paul Lawson, Neosho; a brother, William Lawson, Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Holiness Church, with the Rev. Bob Goodwin, the Rev. Gene Canter and the Rev. Steve Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery, Neosho.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Rogers, Menno Miller, Bob Slusher, Glen Hawk, Larry Edwards and Eugene Franklin.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today sat and after noon Sunday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
