Vergie Nash
GREENFIELD, Mo. _ Vergie Arminta Patton Nash, 92, Arcola, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at a Dade County nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Nash was born Feb. 13, 1905, at Arcola, and was a lifetime area resident. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Arcola First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Roy R. Nash, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a stepson, Robert Nash, Vinita, Okla.; and a sister, Esther Newman, Springfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel, Greenfield, with the Rev. Elton White officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, near Greenfield.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Dade County Nursing Home, Greenfield.
Edward Rinck
NEVADA, Mo. _ Edward C. Rinck, 94, Nevada, died Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 1998, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Rinck was born April 27, 1903, at Altamont, Kan. He was raised in Kansas City, Mo., and received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1929. He received his training in psychiatry in Galveston, Texas, and served his internship at the U.S. Marine Hospital in New Orleans, La.
From 1929 to 1961, he served in the U.S. Public Health Service. From 1936 to 1939, he was with the U.S. Consular Service, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, and Dublin, Ireland. He later served as medical director at both the USNE Penitentiary, Lewisburg, Pa., and the Springfield (Mo.) Medical Center. He joined Nevada State Hospital in 1961 as clinical director, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Nevada First Christian Church; the Masonic Osage Lodge No. 303 AF&AM; Royal Arch Masons, Nevada chapter No. 56; O'Sullivan Commandry No. 15, Nevada, and Carthage Council No. 41; and Rotary International, Nevada chapter.
He married Alma Frances Doughty on June 19, 1929, at Kansas City. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, William Edward Rinck, Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Keith Mackey officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City.
Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with visitation to follow.
Contributions may be made to Nevada First Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.
Olive Brasch
Olive A. Brasch, 82, Joplin, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after an illness.
Mrs. Brasch was born Nov. 10, 1914, at Joplin and was a lifetime resident. She was a homemaker and a former self-employed cake decorator. She was a Protestant.
She married Floyd R. Brasch on Jan. 8, 1939, at Joplin. He died Aug. 8, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. Brasch, Joplin; a daughter, Cindy Susan Smith, Carl Junction; two brothers, Bill Allen and Leyland Allen, both of Joplin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. The Rev. Aaron Weibel will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Butch Allen, Spencer Aggus, Steve Aggus, Ron Raymond, Herb Faucett and Tom Russell.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Family will be at the home of a son, Robert A. Brasch, 3712 Castle Rock Drive.
John Dunn
John Dennis Dunn, 90, 1712 Moffet Ave., died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Dunn was born June 11, 1906, at Joplin. He was a lifetime resident. He was a carpenter, painter, wallpaper hanger, and cabinetmaker before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Earl J. Bruton Post No. 534 VFW.
He married Esta Nadine Roush on Dec. 13, 1935, at Joplin. She died Dec. 30, 1979.
He is survived by a brother, James H. Dunn, Joplin; and three sisters, Kathleen Maxine Wright, of the home, Rosetta Golden, Joplin, and Ruth Dunn, Farmington.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Osborne Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW post.
Christine Beavan
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Christine Beavan, 89, Willard, formerly of Webb City, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at a Springfield nursing home.
Mrs. Beavan was born Dec. 13, 1907, at Edinburg, Scotland. She graduated from nursing school at Glascow, Scotland, and then worked as a nurse midwife before joining Royal Crown Services. After serving in World War II, she came to the United States, living in Norwood for several years. She and her family moved to Webb City in 1953. She worked at McCune-Brooks Hospital at Carthage from 1954 until 1966, when she moved to Springfield. She then worked at Burge Hospital, later working as a supervisor at Fremont Manor Nursing Home. She then worked as a private duty nurse until retiring 17 years ago. She attended Assembly of God Church.
She married Paul Beavan on April 2, 1947, at Chatsworth, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Violet Earl, Chanute, Kan.; a sister, Mae Sargert, Edenbaugh, Scotland; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church, Cave Springs. The Rev. Dan Overly and Billy Burris will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield, under the direction of Wilson Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Helen Brown
AURORA, Mo. - Helen M. Brown, 80, Aurora, died at 4:12 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a long illness.
Mrs. Brown was born March 18, 1916, at Aurora. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She married John J. Brown on Nov. 22, 1945, at Aurora. He died June 21, 1982.
Survivors include three sons, John Brown, Berkeley, Calif., Jim Brown and Bob Brown, both of Aurora; two daughters, Mary Schmidt, Monett, and Barbara Brown, Aurora; three brothers, Gene Leitle, Shell Knob, Bill and Charles Leitle, both of Aurora; three sisters, Josephine Leitle, Pauline Leitle and Mary Leitle, all of Aurora; and six grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Aurora. The Rev. Peter Morciniec will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Aurora.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Church building fund.
Robert Dale
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Memorial services for Robert S. Dale, 79, Carthage route 3, who died Saturday, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage.
The Very Rev. Bruce Green will officiate.
The body has been cremated.
Fort Leonard Wood (Mo.) Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites at Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knell Mortuary.
