William Ingle
William Clayton Ingle, 67, Joplin, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 1997, at St. Paul's Hospital, Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Ingle was born March 2, 1930, at Galena, Kan. He had lived in Joplin since 1946. He was a shipping clerk at Eagle-Picher Industries Inc. before retiring in September 1995. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of First Baptist Church.
He married Darlene Jones on Oct. 28, 1956, at Joplin. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Michael Ingle, state of Hawaii; Kenneth Ingle, Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Pamela Ingle, Little Elm, Texas, and Keri Patton, Joplin; two sisters, Linda Newman, Cassville, and Dorothy Marlow, Webb City; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Duane Trimble will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made by donating blood in his name at a blood bank of the donor's choice.
Warren Lillie
Warren F. Lillie, 39, Joplin route 6, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at a motel in Cassville, Mo. The death is under investigation.
Mr. Lillie was born June 4, 1957, at Salina, Kan. He had lived in Joplin since 1980. He worked as a fuel transport driver and was currently employed by Casey's General Stores.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Joplin.
He married Tarin E. Campbell Furgeson on Dec. 5, 1981, at Joplin. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Brian James Lillie, Des Moines, Iowa, and James Anthony Furgeson and Timothy Cale Furgeson, both of the home; father and step-mother, Frank and Ann Lillie, Englewood, Ohio; mother, Dorothy Lillie, Salina; a brother, Doug Lillie, Salina; a sister, Karen Soden, Sanford, Fla.; and paternal grandmother, Minnie Wagoner, Harrisburg, Pa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Pruett officiating. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena, Kan. The casket will remain closed.
Pallbearers will be Russ Moser, Larry Martin, Charles Akin, Jim Beck, Don Stidham, and Ricky Messingail.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
Gilbert Smith
Gilbert E. Smith, 78, Joplin, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 1997, at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 10, 1918, at Dolen, Texas. He moved to Joplin in 1973 from Houston, Texas. He was a self-employed newspaper distributor for the Houston Post, retiring in 1973. He owned and operated the former Robo Car Wash, 9th and Illinois, from 1973 to 1980. He was a member of Blendville Christian Church. He was a member of the YCC Sunday school class. He was a volunteer for St. John's Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for many years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Jane Armstrong on Sept. 12, 1942, at Dallas. She died June 5, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Smith, Joplin, and Russell Smith, Fort Calhoun, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Blendville Christian Church, with the Rev. Kyle Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Merle Spry, Greg Stratton, Cody Drew, Dick Baker, J.L. Harbaugh and Floyd Wood.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Contributions may be made to Christ in Youth.
Stephen Wright
Memorial services for Stephen H. Wright, Sr., who died Saturday, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, Joplin, with the Rev. Jerry Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Elvin Iverson, Anthony McElmurry, Larry Atwood, Donald Barber, Jerry Love, Wallace Carr Sr., Stephen Brown Jr., Bobby Edmonson, and Willie J. Lee.
Masonic services will be conducted by the Myrtle Lodge at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.
Ruby Daniels
WHEATON, Mo. - Ruby A. Daniels, 93, Wheaton, died at 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 1997, at a Joplin nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Daniels was born June 15, 1903, at Rocky Comfort. She was a schoolteacher. She later operated a grocery store in Wheaton until 1955. She was Wheaton's tax collector for 19 years.
She had been a member of Wheaton Baptist Church since 1917.
She married Floyd L. Daniels on April 11, 1924, at Wheaton. He died in 1955.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Thomas, North East, Pa.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheaton Funeral Home. The Rev. Stanton Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort Cemetery. The casket will be closed.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Butler, Olin Cartwright, Jack Brattin, Dean Harter, Carl Davidson and Wesley Haynes.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Herbert Garner
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. - Herbert D. Garner, 60, Mount Vernon, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 1997, at his home after an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Garner was born Sept. 13, 1936 in Lawrence County. He had lived in Mount Vernon for 34 years, moving from California. He was a retired mechanic. He was a member of Summit Baptist Church, near Mount Vernon, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He married Helen Garoutte on July 5, 1958, at Harrison, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, David Garner, Springfield; a daughter, Molly Burton, Independence; three brothers, James Garner, Terre Haute, Ind., Larry Garner, Mount Vernon and Max D. Garner, Monett; six sisters, Betty Sue Wells, Los Lunas, N.M., Nadine Perdigo, Sarcoxie, Tiny Mae Williams, Springfield, Neva Cooper, Warsaw, Sharon Olinger, Carthage and Debby Price, Kansas City; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. The Rev. Gary Gilmore will officiate. Burial will follow at Summit Cemetery, northeast of Mount Vernon, under the direction of Fosset-Mosher Funeral Home here.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
Daniel Jones
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Services for Daniel Kenneth Jones, 72, who died Saturday, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.
The Rev. S. Ray Crews will officiate.
Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
He was not preceded in death by a son, as it was reported in the obituary in Monday editions.
