Sophie Boyce
PURDY, Mo. - Sophie Helen Boyce, 87, Purdy, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at the home of her brother, Earnest Pozniak, Purdy, after a long illness.
Mrs. Boyce was born Jan. 4, 1911, at Purdy and was a lifetime area resident. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She married Harry William Boyce on Sept. 9, 1930, at Pulaskifield. He died Feb. 21, 1988.
Additional survivors include another brother, Virgil B. Pozniak, Purdy' and four sisters, Nettie Feeney, Agnes Roberts and Rosella Renkoski, all of Purdy, and Twilla Younker, Pierce City.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
Virginia Buck
FAIRVIEW, Mo. - Virginia Buck, 63, Fairview, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mrs. Buck was born Feb. 1, 1934, at Wheaton. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a 1952 graduate of Wheaton High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel of Grace, Monett.
She married Don Buck on Jan. 6, 1957, at Stella. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Renee Buck, Granby; and a sister, Wanna Lee Rohrer, Springfield.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. The Rev. Jimmie Copley will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort (Mo.) Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Buck, Martin Rohrer, Victor Rohrer, Claude Haynes, Don Keeling and Robert Kingrey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Stanley Kirk
NOEL, Mo. - Stanley R. Kirk, 75, Noel route 1, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Northwest Regional Medical Center, Springdale, Ark., after an illness.
Mr. Kirk was born Dec. 11, 1922 at Spokane, Wash. He had lived in the Noel area since 1937, moving from Spokane.
He had worked for several mobile home manufacturers in the Noel area. He worked 18 years for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, Bella Vista, Ark.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Dorothy Sergeant on April 24, 1949, at Noel. She survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Bonnie Lou Tolly, La Cygne, Kan., and Marie Alice Grissom, Anderson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ozark Funeral Home, Noel, with the Rev. Bob Howard officiating. Burial will be in Noel Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Coila Longley
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Coila Geneva Longley, 96, Cassville, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at a Cassville nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Longley was born May 28, 1901, at Washburn. She had lived in Barry County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Baptist Church, south of Cassville.
She married H.O. "Perk" Longley in 1916 at Cassville. He died in 1972.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Longley and Roger Longley, both of Cassville, and George Longley, Webb City; a sister, Jessie Fulton, Cassville; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Corinth Cemetery, south of Cassville. The Rev. Bob Neeley will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
Carol Maynard
GRANBY, Mo. - Carol Ann Maynard, 43, Granby, died at 4:53 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, after a sudden illness. heart attack
Mrs. Maynard was born Aug. 23, 1954, at Wheaton. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a production worker at Sunbeam Leisure Products, Neosho, for eight years.
Survivors include three sons, Zachery Sandefer, Jacob Hobson and Joe Maynard, all of Granby; her mother, Margaret Jones, Springfield; two brothers, Robert Richmond, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Greg Richmond, Goodman; and a sister, Diania Hawkins, Granby.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rocky Comfort (Mo.) Cemetery. The Rev. Kenji Harrington will officiate.
Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
Louise McCreary
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Graveside services for Mary "Louise" McCreary, 74, 924 W. 11th St., who died Wednesday, will be at 10 a.m. today at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City.
Randy Wilson, minister, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Bob Lee, Bill Lee, Bill Parrish, Robert Truong, George Morris Jr. and George Morris III.
Russell O'Brien
PINEVILLE, Mo. - John Russell O'Brien, 58, Pineville route 1, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, after an illness.
Mr. O'Brien was born Feb. 20, 1939, at Jane. He was a lifelong resident of the Jane and Pineville areas. He built the Ponderosa Trail Ride Ranch, Pineville, and helped manage it with his brother.
Survivors include his wife, Judy O'Brien; a son, Joe O'Brien, Jane; four daughters, Lisa Ann Williams, the state of California, Susan Chandler and Dana Summers, both of Needles, Calif., and Kim Chandler, Anderson; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Pallette, Santa Clara, Calif.; four brothers, Don O'Brien, Lanagan, Richard O'Brien, Mesa, Ariz., Harold O'Brien, Jane, and Mike O'Brien, Goodman; a sister, Patricia Wylie, Muskogee, Okla.; six grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson. The Rev. Larry Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Brien Family Cemetery, Lanagan.
