Fern Welch
LAMAR, Mo. - Sarah Fern Welch, 89, Lamar, died at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Barton County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Welch was born Aug. 2, 1908, in Barry County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Aurora.
She married Ancil Welch on April 20, 1928, at Miami, Okla. He died Feb. 10, 1988.
Survivors include a son, James Welch, Branson; three daughters, Judy Welch, Branson, Beverly Garringer, Lamar, and Sue Sundlee, Rochester, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora. The Rev. Drew Hill will officiate. Pallbeaers will be Rodney Garringer, Jimmy Welch, Robert Marti, Kent Welch, Sean Kirby, Donovan Stahl, Trevor Kirby and Joey Garringer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lamar First Baptist Church building fund or Southwest Baptist University Scholarship Fund.
Mary Whitesell
HALLTOWN, Mo. - Mary Madeline Whitesell, 84, Del City, a Halltown native, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her daughter's home at Del City, of an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Whitesell was born Oct. 10, 1913, near Halltown. She moved in 1995 to Del City from Halltown. She was a member of Halltown Baptist Church. She was a retired cook and waitress.
She married Otis Grover Whitesell in 1942. He died on June 29, 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Hendricks, Del City; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller. The Rev. Dean Hendricks will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery, south of Halltown.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Jakob Jasperson
Jakob Daniel Jasperson, 19, Joplin, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a long illness.
Mr. Jasperson was born July 26, 1977, at Heber City, Utah. He moved to Joplin in 1994 from Utah. He worked for Missouri Furniture Industries, Carl Junction, and was an artist.
He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joplin.
Survivors include his parents, Terry and Bonnie Jasperson, Joplin; two brothers, Jeramy Jasperson and Jayson Jasperson, both of Joplin; maternal grandfather, Raymond D. Sutton, Carthage; and paternal grandparents, Bert and Dorothy Jasperson, Payson, Utah.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hackney Cemetery, northeast of Carthage.
The casket will remain closed at all times.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.

Jack Cargile
GRANBY, Mo. - Jack Lester Cargile, 67, Granby, died at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla., after a long illness.
Mr. Cargile was born March 16, 1929, at the Lovell community, near Crescent, Okla. He had worked for W.R. Grace, Duenweg, and retired in 1972. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of Granby Church of God.
He married Geneva Maxine Tanner on Feb. 21, 1964, at Granby. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bill Cargile, Bixby, Okla., and Mike Cargile, Granby; three daughters, Juanita Sanders, Warner, Okla., Anita Judd, Granby, and Janice Moore, Stillwater, Okla.; two brothers, Bob Cargile, Carl Junction, and Randall Cargile, Diamond; two sisters, Ann Huddleston, Marionville, and Charlene Brust, Granby; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
The Rev. T.J. Brown will officiate.
Burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery.
American Legion Post No. 163 will conduct graveside military rites.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mae Johnson
MILLER, Mo. - L. Mae Johnson, 85, Miller, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, after a long illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 13, 1911, in Stone County.
She had lived in the Miller area for 76 years.
She wrote the "Stringtown Onward" column in the Miller Press newspaper for 25 years.
She was a member of Onward United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Onward Sewing Club.
She married Robert Venton Johnson on Oct. 5, 1935, at Stockton. He died Jan. 7, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Larry Johnson, Miller; a daughter, Carolyn Natho, Miller; three brothers, William Eutsler, Bakersfield, Calif., Harry Eutsler, Greenfield, and Bob Eutsler, Ash Grove; two sisters, Myrtle Widick, Porterville, Calif., and Imogene Misemer, Ash Grove; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller.
The Rev. Jim Downing will officiate.
Burial will be in Misemer Cemetery, east of Miller.
Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Dollie Miller
ORONOGO, Mo. - Dollie M. Miller, 84, Oronogo route 1, died at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Miller was born Aug. 12, 1912, at Peggs, Okla. She moved to Oronogoin 1941 from Carl Junction. She worked for the former Elder Manufacturing Co. in Webb City for more than 25 years. She retired in 1961. She was a homemaker.
She married Earl Miller on March 29, 1935, at Columbus, Kan. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, David E. Miller, Oronogo, and Rick Miller, Joplin; a daughter, Pam Irwin, Carthage; a sister, Della Hensley, Webb City; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
The Rev. Johnnie Wilkins will officiate. Burial will be in Carl Junction Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darin Miller, Jeffrey Miller, Michael Miller, Max Chapel, Gene Irwin and Tobias Swoveland.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
James Mayo
Funeral services for James William Mayo, 73, 1304 E. "G" St., who was found dead in his home Wednesday, Jan. 29, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Minister Bob Cooper will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Pete Box, Dean Whited, Earl "Corky" Morehead, Bud Couch, James Sperry and Paul Carrico.
Open visitation will be Thursday before the service.
Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
