Bob Chatham
Robert L. "Bob" Chatham, 81, Joplin route 6, died at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mr. Chatham was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Joplin, where he was a lifelong resident.
He was a carpenter.
He owned and operated for three years the Chatham Grocery Store, formerly at 10th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
He was a route salesman for 22 years for Meadow Gold and Beatrice Foods, both of Joplin.
He retired in 1972.
He was a member of Westside Christian Church.
He married Alene Wyatt on May 19, 1934, at Joplin. She died Aug. 1, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Gary Chatham, Joplin route 6; two daughters, Claudenia Woolever, 1408 South St., and Judy Graham, 1901 Connor Ave.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westside Christian Church.
The Rev. Ron Wade and Gene Hutchcraft, minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Woolever, Mark Woolever, Joseph Leland Woolever, Michael Graham, Matthew Graham and Gary Chatham II.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Parker Mortuary.
Contributions may be made to Westside Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
Emma Perrin
Emma M. Perrin, 103, 225 Ozark Ave., died at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.
Mrs. Perrin was born May 24, 1893, at Red Bud, Ill.
She had lived since 1950 in Joplin.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Webb City.
She married Peter J. Perrin on July 31, 1913, at St. Louis.
He died Oct. 28, 1969.
Surviving are four sons, Frank Perrin, Joplin, Andrew Perrin, Jackson, Robert Perrin, Montgomery City, and Vincent Perrin, Hampton, S.C.; two daughters, Dorothy Chapman, Fresno, Calif., and Grace Abdoo, Pontiac, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. Damian Boeding will officiate.
Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Rosary will be recited and visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Irene Baker
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Irene Mary Baker, 88, Carthage, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997 at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Baker was born Aug. 20, 1908 in Great Bend, Kan.
She moved in 1970 to Carthage from Diamond.
She retired in 1970 as owner and operator of Irene's Cafe in Diamond.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage.
She married John Frank Baker on June 12, 1938 in Albert, Kan.
He preceded her in death on June 3, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Donald Baker, Carthage; a stepson, John F. Baker, Carmichael, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. today at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage.
The Rev. James Schnackenberg will officiate.
Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Pallbearers will be Fred Ramm, Howard Samuel, Arthur Herzog, Pete Quade, Clarence Kester and Paul Dieckhoff.
Contributions may be made to the church in care of funeral home.
Madge Bennett
SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. - Madge Marie DeBolt Bennett, 71, Southwest City, died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at an Anderson nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Bennett was born June 21, 1925, at Kellerton, Iowa.
She moved to the Southwest City area in 1994 from Amsterdam, Mo.
She was a homemaker. She owned Bennett's Bait and Tackle in Amsterdam for 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, William Schoff, Girard, Kan., and Johnny Schoff, Valley Mills, Texas; two daughters, Jacquelyn Provence, Southwest City, and Diana Brock, Waco, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Butler, Newton, Iowa, and Cleo Nelson, Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson.
The Rev. Bob Howard will officiate.
Burial will be in Butler Creek Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Ark.
Pallbearers will be Mike Evans, Dennis Evans, Johnny Schoff, David Forcum, Brad Weyant and Kevin Frazier.
Ava Burnette
WASHBURN, Mo. - Ava I. Steverson Burnette, 85, Washburn, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at a Rogers, Ark., nursing home after a short illness.
Mrs. Burnette was born Dec. 3, 1911, in Barry County.
She moved to Lamar, Colo., in 1945 and returned to Barry County in 1970.
She was a homemaker.
She married Eugene Burnette on Oct. 20, 1945, at Bentonville, Ark.
He died on March 9, 1991.
Survivors include a sister, Fern Lewis, Muskogee, Okla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. Robert Gaddis officiating.
Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Cassville.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lucille Davidson
GOODMAN, Mo. - Lucille B. Provost Davidson, 60, Goodman, died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1996, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after an illness.
Mrs. Davidson was born Oct. 5, 1936, at New Bedford, Mass.
She moved to Goodman in 1973 from La Jolla, Calif.
She worked 15 years at the Tyson Foods plant in Neosho.
She later worked part-time at schools in Goodman.
She was a member of Banner Nazarene Church, Anderson.
She married James E. Davidson on Dec. 11, 1981.
He died Nov. 24, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Robert Westgate, East Sandwich, Mass.; three stepsons, James Davidson and Clyde Davidson, both of Goodman, and Allen Davidson, Prescott, Ariz.; two daughters, Betty Malloch, Hyannis, Mass., and Susan Westgate, Marion, Mass.; a brother, Kenneth Provost, Midwest City, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ozark Funeral Home, Goodman.
The Rev. Sam Storkson will officiate.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The body will be cremated afterward.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today.
Contributions may be made to the building fund at Banner Nazarene Church, Anderson, or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.
Ada Myers
EVERTON, Mo. - Ada Myers, 90, Everton, died at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at a Springfield nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Myers was born Sept. 16, 1906, in Dade County.
She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church, east of Greenfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Myers.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Cemetery, east of Greenfield.
The Rev. Otis Divine will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
