Lorena Sehnert
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. - Lorena Sehnert, 79, Mount Vernon, died at 11:44 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at Missouri Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
Mrs. Serhnert was born Dec. 14, 1917, at Springfield.
She had lived most of her life in Mount Vernon.
She was a ward clerk at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center.
She retired in 1981.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon.
Her husband, Sam Ireland, died in 1955.
Her husband, John H. Sehnert, died in 1980.
Surviving are a son, Sam Ireland, Reston, Va.; a stepson, John K. Sehnert, Sarcoxie; a stepdaughter, Janet Downing, Lewisville, Texas; a sister, Pauline Parten, Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Ed Neimeyer will officiate.
Private burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Springfield.
Pallbearers will be Neal Underwood, Bob Woodson, Jerry Wood, Dana Spradling, J.C. Robb and Lee Kern.
There will be no visitation.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
Lyman Selig
NEOSHO, Mo - Lyman L. Selig, 68, 425 E. South St., died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at his home after a short illness.
Mr. Selig was born Aug. 22, 1928 at Olivett, Kan.
He served in Army intelligence in the Korean War.
After he left the service, he worked for three years as a draftsman and industrial engineer for Beech Aircraft Co., Wichita, Kan.
He later worked at Cessna Aircraft Co., Wichita.
He moved in 1961 to Neosho from Wichita.
He worked in the engineering department for Rocketdyne, now called Continental.
He later worked at Day and Zimmerman Co., Parsons, Kan.
He was manager of project engineering for 25 years at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.
He retired March 31, 1994.
He was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God, Neosho, where he served as a Sunday school teacher.
He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He worked with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts many years, where he received a Silver Beaver Award and a Golden Son Scouting Award.
He was a Demolay Dad who served on the advisory council.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Osage City, Kan.
He married Wynona L. Eberhart on March 26, 1954, at Wichita. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, George M. Shaheen, Jacksonville, Fla., and Lawrence G. Selig, Neosho; three daughters, Beverly Duncan, Wichita, Patricia D. Clark, Des Moines, Iowa, Dorene K. Blount, Sebring, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Abundant Life Assembly of God.
The Rev. Bill Nichols and the Rev. Everett Edwards will officiate.
Burial will be in Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Reno, Sadhir Chopra, Ron Price, Mark Bridges, Keith Lusk and William Mosby.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Contributions may be made to New Hope Hospice or to Teen Challenge of the Four States.
Jack Stotts
SARCOXIE, Mo. - Graveside services for Jack LeRoy Stotts, 77, Sarcoxie, who died Wednesday, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sarcoxie Cemetery.
The Rev. Richard Cerrettie will officiate.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Delmer Austin
SENECA, Mo. - Memorial services for Delmer L. Austin Jr., 55, Winter Haven, Fla., a former Seneca resident, who died Jan. 17, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church, Seneca.
The Rev. Anna Mae Griffin will officiate.
Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery.
The body has been cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.
George Bliler
DIAMOND, Mo. - George F. Bliler, 81, Auburn, Wash., formerly of Diamond, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, at his home after an illness.
Mr. Bliler was born Dec, 20, 1915, at Diamond.
He left Diamond in 1936 and had lived in Washington for 50 years.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, three Overseas Bars and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
He worked for Boeing Aircraft Co., Seattle, Wash., and at McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Wash. He retired in 1964.
Survivors include two brothers, Ben Bliler, Diamond, and Joe Bliler, Springfield; and a sister, Mary Hartman, Webb City.
The body has been cremated.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Diamond Cemetery, with the Rev. Boyce Mouton officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Dorothy Brand
ORONOGO, Mo. - Dorothy Rice Brand, 76, Oronogo, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mrs. Brand was born Aug. 10, 1920 in Ash Grove.
She was graduated from Carthage High School in 1938.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from Missouri Southern State College and her master's degree in special education from Drury College in Springfield.
She was a special education teacher for the Neosho public school system.
She was a diagnostician at Joplin Regional Center, Joplin.
She was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She was a member of Missouri Retired Teachers Association, the PEO, Council for Exceptional Children, and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Survivors include six sons, Peter Brand, Irwin, Texas, Carl Brand, Neosho, Phillip Brand, Carthage, Richard Brand and David Brand, both of Jasper, and Daniel Brand, Purcell; four daughters, Nancy Johnson, Houston, Texas, Elizabeth Conner, Joplin route 3, Barbara Wood and Martha Smith, both of Joplin; a sister, Barbara Zaerr, Jasper; 26 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nashville (Mo.) United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Mark Stewart will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
The body has been donated to medical science at the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Shirley Cook
MONETT, Mo. - Shirley J. Cook, 61, Eureka Springs, Ark., a former Monett resident, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at a Eureka Springs nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Cook was born July 11, 1935, in Monett.
She had lived in Monett before she moved to Houston, Mo., for two years.
She moved to Eureka Springs three years later.
She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, north of Monett.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Cook, Eureka Springs, and Steve Cook, Monett; a daughter, Leasa Lamb, Houston, Mo.; two sisters, Deane Gholson, Dodge City, Kan., and Ann Barker, Aurora; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Cemetery, north of Monett.
The Rev. Charlie Robinson will officiate.
The casket will be closed at all times.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
