Viola Krummel
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Viola Ella Kluhsman Krummel, 86, Carthage, died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mrs. Krummel was born Jan. 28, 1911, at Lockwood.
She had lived in Carthage for 25 years, where she moved from Lockwood.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage.
She married Paul Kluhsman on Nov. 9, 1930, at Lockwood.
He died in 1979.
She married Walter Krummel on April 9, 1985, in Carthage. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Merrill Kluhsman, Neosho, and Herbert Kluhsman, Joplin; a daughter, Loretta Herron, Huber Heights, Ohio; two stepsons, Thomas Krummel, Liberty, and Charles Krummel, Carthage; two brothers, Arvel Piepenbrink, Lockwood, and Willis Piepenbrink, Dwight, Ill.; three sisters, Alvena Fischer, Joplin, Elda MacKay and Ada Piepenbrink, both of Springfield; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren.
One son preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage.
The Rev. James F. Schnackenberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Minert Cemetery, Lockwood.

Elena Pruente
AURORA, Mo. - Elena Ray Pruente, 89, Aurora, formerly of Verona, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at her home after a short illness.
Mrs. Pruente was born Sept. 1, 1907, in Crane.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a homemaker.
She married Harry Pruente in June 1927 in Verona.
He died in March 1977.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Pruente, Oak Lawn, Ill., Jim Pruente, Freeport, Texas, and Charles Pruente, Independence; nine daughters, Anna Pool, Dorothy Provance and Jean Wormington, all of Aurora, Gladys Tesch, Finksbury; Bobbi Emlet and Mary Hunter, both of Kansas City, Norma Wheeler, Independence, Vera Armstrong, Cleveland, Mo., and Nancy Ceiz, Verona; 27 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in Spring River Cemetery, Verona.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jack Stotts
SARCOXIE, Mo. - Jack LeRoy Stotts, 77, Sarcoxie, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mr. Stotts was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Sarcoxie and was a lifetime resident.
He was graduated in 1939 from Sarcoxie High School.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from Sept. 1, 1950, until he retired Nov. 13, 1981.
He was a member of Sarcoxie Presbyterian Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Helen Aleshire on April 20, 1947, at Columbus, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Mike Stotts, Sarcoxie, and Pat Stotts, Carthage; a daughter, Dr. Jackie Joyo, Newport Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Orin "Bump" Stotts, Sarcoxie, and Floyd E. Stotts, La Mirada, Calif.; a sister, Lorene Stotts, Sarcoxie; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are pending with Housh Funeral Home.
Erma Talbott
LIBERAL, Mo. - Erma M. Talbott, 74, Liberal, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mrs. Talbott was born Oct. 25, 1922, at Bronaugh.
She was a lifetime resident of Vernon and Barton counties.
She owned and operated Liberal MFA Insurance for 18 years.
She attended Liberal Christian Church.
She was a 50-year member of MountHope, Chapter No. 160 in Lamar, Friendly Folks Club and was active in rural Liberal civic and church activities.
She married Howard M. Talbott on Feb. 7, 1943, at Columbia.
He died May 25, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Ross H. Talbott, Mesquite, Texas; one daughter, Ellen Jean Eckstein, Kerrville, Texas; one brother, Joy Funk, Liberal; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Liberal Christian Church.
The Rev. Phil Abbott will officiate.
Private family burial will be at Liberal City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.

Juanita Adams
NEVADA, Mo. - Juanita F. Adams, 72, Nevada, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Adams was born Sept. 5, 1924, at Butler.
She moved to Nevada from Butler in 1957.
She worked at Nevada State Hospital for 18 years. She retired in 1986.
She married Robert J. Adams on April 20, 1946, at Mound City, Kan. He died Oct. 25, 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Milligan, Lamar; a son, Bob Adams, Butler; four sisters, Wilma Jean Dodds, Butler, Shirley Butler, Harrisonville, Betty Lou Black, Rich Hill, and Patricia Quick, Butler; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home.
Hoyt Beisley will officiate.
Burial will be at Moore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Friends may call at the funeral home until the service.

Walter Edwards
SARCOXIE, Mo. - Funeral services for Walter "Slim" Edwards, 77, Sarcoxie, who died Monday, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
Mr. Edwards was a veteran of World War II.
The Rev. Kenneth Holman will officiate.
Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery, south of Sarcoxie.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Edwards, Denny Edwards, Brian Edwards, Rick Edwards, Dick Edwards, Bob Edwards, Delmar Edwards, Adam Root and Tom Garrison.
Nick Geary
NEVADA, Mo. - Nicholas J. "Nick" Geary, 89, Nevada, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Geary was born Feb. 13, 1907, at Centralia, Ill.
He had lived in Nevada since childhood.
He worked as a carpenter during the Depression years.
He farmed north of Nevada.
He worked for North American Aviation, Kansas City, where he assembled B-25 bombers during World War II.
He worked at Nevada State Hospital and retired in 1976.
He married Mabel Ida Vogt on May 10, 1925, at Fort Scott, Kan.
She died on June 10, 1993.
Survivors include a son, Nick Geary, Winter Park, Fla.; three daughters, Jean Jones, Kansas City, and Patsy Griffith and Maxine Morris, both of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
Friends may call until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
