Hosmer Parsons
SHELDON, Mo. - Hosmer Parsons, 90, Sheldon, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, after an illness of several months.
Mr. Parsons was born Jan. 14, 1907, at Sheldon and was a lifetime resident.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Sheldon Baptist Church, Sheldon Masonic Lodge No. 371, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Valley of Kansas City-Orient of Missouri, and the Order of Eastern Star.
He married Mildred N. Foland on March 10, 1940, at Sheldon.
She preceded him in death.
A son also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Homer Ray Parsons, Kansas City; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon.
The Rev. Jim McCoy will officiate.
Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.

Jerry Sivils
SARCOXIE, Mo. - Jerry Dean Sivils, 43, Lee's Summit, formerly of Sarcoxie, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at a Lee's Summit hospital.
Mr. Sivils was born Aug. 2, 1953, at Butler.
He had lived in Sarcoxie and Carl Junction before he moved to Lee's Summit four years ago.
He was a salesman for a building supply company.
While living in Sarcoxie, he had been a volunteer at the fire and ambulance departments.
He was an assistant Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader.
He was a member of Langdon Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, TerryAnn Sivils; two daughters, Angela Lynn Sivils and Kristin Sivils, both of the home; two sons, Billie Dean Sivils and Anthony Jackson Sivils, both of Sarcoxie; his mother and stepfather, Orvene and Leland Hursh, Butler; a brother, Darrell Moore, Warsaw; three sisters, Merril Ann Dutton, Media, Pa., Patricia Elaine Hunt, Avondale, and Ellen Smith, Raymore; and his maternal grandmother, Mae Tillery, Prescott, Kan.
Services were Monday at Langsford Road Baptist Church.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, under the direction of Langsford Chapel, Lee's Summit.
Elton Witte
NEVADA, Mo. - Elton H. Witte, 74, Nevada, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Mr. Witte was born July 23, 1922, in the state of New Mexico.
He moved to a farm north of Nevada in 1951.
He worked for Lingle's Refrigeration at Nevada for a number of years.
He later managed his own vending machine route.
He also managed a warehouse for Guy's Foods in Nevada.
He later worked for the City of Nevada as a water meter reader for five years before retiring in 1985.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a radar operator in Long Beach, Calif.
He married Muriel Dean Wright on Jan. 15, 1944 at Plainview, Texas. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Kay D. Arbuckle, Carrabelle, Fla., and Agatha A. Green, El Dorado Springs; three sisters, Lurla Davis and Elna Witte, both of Waco, Texas, and Delma Todd, Harrisonville; two brothers, Delbert Witte, Sacramento, Calif., and Lloyd Witte, Bremerton, Wash.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Milo (Mo.) Cemetery.
The Rev. Marvin Jamison and the Rev. Wes Anderson will officiate.
Friends may call until 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Jewell Zagorach
LOCKWOOD, Mo. - Jewell Dean Pirtle Zagorach, 60, Kansas City, formerly of Lockwood, died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at St. Luke Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., after a long illness.
Mrs. Zagorach was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Dade County.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Church of God Faith of Abraham, Raymore.
Survivors include a son, Randall W. Zagorach, Pleasant Valley; two brothers, Jim Pirtle, Arcola, and Jerol Pirtle, Lathrop; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel, Greenfield.
Burial will be in Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Viola Williams
Viola O. Williams, 96, Joplin, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a long illness.
Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 21, 1900, at Galena, Kan.
She had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She was a homemaker.
She married Woody Williams on Aug. 9, 1945, at Stockton, Calif.
He died July 16, 1991.
Survivors include a half sister, Betty Jean Youngblood, Galena.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. The Rev. J.K. Wright will officiate.
Burial will be in National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan.
Thelma Adair
ANDERSON, Mo. - Thelma Cozine Adair, 87, Anderson route 3, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, at a Neosho nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Adair was born March 30, 1909, at Alexandria, S.D.
She had lived in Anderson about 32 years, moving here from Los Angeles, Calif., where she retired as a civil service worker.
She was a member of Anderson United Methodist Church, the church choir and United Methodist Women.
She married Ray Adair on March 30, 1927, at Mitchell, S.D. He died Nov. 23, 1981.
Survivors include a son, Andy Andrews, Anderson.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Valley Cemetery, Anderson.
The Rev. Thad Carter will officiate.
Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson.
Contributions may be made to the Anderson United Methodist Church.
Golda Horner
PURDY, Mo. - Golda Horner, 81, Kimberling City, a former Purdy resident, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, at Skaggs Community Hospital, Branson, after a long illness.
Mrs. Horner was born Oct. 22, 1915, at Baxter, Mo.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She married Tom Alvin Horner on Dec. 24, 1932, at Blue Eye.
He died May 9, 1991.
Survivors include two brothers, Lon McQueary, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Alden McQueary, Oak Grove, Ark.; and a sister, Ruby Walker, Fresno, Calif.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at McCullough Cemetery, south of Viola.
The Rev. John Duncan will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville.
