Rex Kelly
SHELL KNOB, Mo. - Rex D. Kelly, 75, Shell Knob, died at 10:38 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, after a brief illness.
Mr. Kelly was born April 3, 1921, at Cato, Kan. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran having served during World War II. He retired in April 1981 from the Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta, Ga., as an aviation inspector. He moved to Shell Knob in 1986 from Marietta, Ga. He as a 50-year Masonic Lodge member and a past member of the Cedar Creek Country Club in Shell Knob.
He married Janice Marie Kilgore on April 3, 1985, at Marietta, Ga. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Mark Kelly, Tullahoma, Tenn.; a daughter, Maribeth Evans, Marietta; two stepsons, Jon Kilgore and Bradley Kilgore, both of Appleton, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Musket, Lake Forest, Ill.; two brothers, Glen Dale Kelly, Sacramento, Calif., and Conley Kelly, address unknown; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home, Shell Knob, with the Rev. Nick Arnold officiating.
The body has been cremated.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Brandon Lee
SENECA, Mo. - Brandon Joseph Lee, 4-month-old son of Jeramie Lee, Crestline, Kan., and Rachel Tice, Seneca, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a sudden illness.
Brandon was born Oct. 25, 1996, at Joplin.
Additional survivors include a half-brother, Dakota Lee, Joplin; a half-sister, Cassandra James, Joplin; paternal grandparents, Michael and Charlene Lee, Crestline, and Ray and Joann Johnson, Seneca; maternal grandparents, Rex and Carol Tice, Seneca, and Veronica DuBois, Anderson; paternal great-grandmother, Joyce Halfacre, Duenweg; maternal great-grandparents, Jason and Peggy Tice, Carthage; and maternal great-grandmothers Virginia Tice, Seneca, and Barbara Earp, South Bend, Ind.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert Dean Roark, minister, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Parker Mortuary.
Helen Martin
RACINE, Mo. - Helen Elaine Martin, 61, Racine, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mrs. Martin was born Feb. 26, 1936, at North Little Rock, Ark. She moved to Racine five years ago from North Little Rock. She was an administrative assistant for a real estate developer. She was a member of the Racine Apostolic Church.
Her husband, Adriel Dale Martin, died Oct. 31, 1996.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Lucille Throgmorton and Edna "Lori" Martin, both of Racine; a stepdaughter, Pam McDaniel, North Rock; two sons, Eldon Lynn Throgmorton, Racine, and Carroll Martin, Seneca; a sister, Valeria Lawrence, Mabelvale, Ark.; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. today at the Racine Apostolic Church, with the Rev. Jim Triplett officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Sumner Cemetery near Jacksonville, Ark.
Pallbearers will be Clark Parker, Ernie Sampson, Kelly Sampson, Anthony Yates, Eldon Throgmorton and Jeremy Martin.
Arrangements are under direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Russell Nelson
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Russell C. Nelson, 77, Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Webb City, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Chandler Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Nelson was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Carthage. He moved to Arizona 45 years ago from Webb City. He was a member of the Corona Baptist Church in Chandler.
His wife, Adalene Lewis Nelson, died Feb. 19, 1993.
He is survived by two sons, Jack Bigley, Independence, Kan., and John Nelson, Chandler, Ariz.; three daughters, Sarah Clark, Wewaka, Okla., Etta Fletcher, Landers, Wyo., and Elizabeth Nelson, Chandler; two sisters, Allene Green, Carthage, and Grace Laythrop, Sarcoxie; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Chandler under the direction of Buelar Funeral Home, Chandler.
Kyle Sitton
LAMAR, Mo. - Kyle Willie Sitton, 79, Lamar, died at 2:11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Sitton was born Sept. 18, 1917, at Dadeville. He had lived in Barton County for 70 years. He helped build the sewer plant for the city of Lamar in 1937. He worked in Idaho, harvesting vegetables. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department, the Lamar Grain Elevator, for Lawn Boy, Lamar, and for Cardwell Manufacturing, Wichita, Kan. He also worked as a forklift operator for O'Sullivan Industries, Lamar.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Lamar. He was a former member of the Lamar Saddle Club and the Northwest Arkansas Cavalcade. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Edth Lorene Dickey on April 24, 1938, at Lamar. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Larry Lee Sitton, Mesquite, Nev., and Robert Kyle Sitton, Lamar; three brothers, Kenneth Sitton, Waynesville, and Duane Sitton and Doyle Sitton, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, with the Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar.
Contributions may be made to the Lamar Assembly of God Church Building Fund.
Darrel Summers
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Darrel P. Summers, 74, Springfield, a former Cassville resident, died Friday morning, Feb. 28, 1997, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Summers was born Jan. 20, 1923, at Abbyville, Kan. He moved to Exeter in 1935 with his family and was a 1940 graduate of Exeter High School. He began his career of 34 years with the U.S. Postal Service as the first mail carrier in Cassville. He was transferred to the Kansas City office and later was employed as a carrier in Springfield. He retired in 1978. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.
He married Edna Marie Planchon in May 1944. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Gary Summers, Springfield, and Phillip Summers, Gladstone; a daughter, Evelyn Summers Fowler, Rich Hill; two sisters, Nina Milich and Viola Robison, both of San Leandro, Calif.; two half brothers, Bob Snodgrass, Joplin, and Lester Snodgrass, Tracy, Calif.; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Martin Micke and the Rev. Robert Brendlinger will officiate. Burial will be in Waldensian Presbyterian Cemetery, Monett.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gertie Bartlett
Gertrude E. "Gertie" Bartlett, 84, Cameron, died Monday, March 3, 1997, at a nursing home in Cameron, where she had resided since July 1990. She was the mother of Harold E. Bartlett Jr., Joplin.
Mrs. Bartlett was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Kansas City, Kan. She moved from Kansas City, Mo., to Gravois Mills in 1975. She worked for the Kansas City (Mo.) Police Department for 28 years before she retired in 1975.
She was a member of Gravois Mills United Methodist Church; Golden Gate Chapter No. 58, Order of the Eastern Star; City Wide Past Matrons and Patrons Club of Kansas City; Scottish Rite Free Masonry Ladies; Kansas City Police Benefit Association; and the Retired Centurions Association.
Her husband of 56 years, Harold E. Bartlett Sr., died in December 1988.
Survivors, in addition to her son, are a daughter, Joanne Knight, Cameron; a brother, Charles E. Dover, Kansas City; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
