Virginia Hedeman
Virginia Kathryn Kirk Hedeman, 76, 102 E. Second St., died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Hedeman was born June 13, 1920, at Corsicana, Texas.
She moved to Joplin in November 1996 from Arlington, Texas, where she had lived for 15 years.
She had lived most of her life in the Dallas, Texas, area.
She worked in electrical assembly for Vought Aircraft Company, Grand Prairie, Texas, for many years.
She later was an an apartment manager in the Dallas area.
Survivors include a son, Don Allen, rural Joplin; a daughter, Linda Grayson, Lampassas, Texas; a brother, J.G. Kirk, Garland, Texas; a sister, Faye Harf, Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
The body has been donated to Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Memorial services will be later in Dallas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Vickie Hood
Vickie Lea Hood, 43, Joplin, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Mrs. Hood was born Nov. 20, 1953, at El Dorado, Kan.
She moved to Joplin eight months ago from San Diego, Calif., where she had lived for 25 years.
Survivors include a son, Chad Lee Hood, San Diego; a daughter, Todi Lea Ackerman, Memphis, Tenn.; her father, James Lester Mayes, Joplin; two sisters, Shereal Gwynn Stover, Joplin, and Teresa Marie Cortrell, San Diego; and a grandchild.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services are pending with Parker Mortuary.
Laurann Patterson
Laurann Patterson, 67, North Las Vegas, Nev., a former Joplin resident, died Monday, Feb. 24, at her home in North Las Vegas, after a short illness.
Mrs. Patterson was born March 2, 1929, at Joplin and lived there until moving to the state of Nevada 32 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
She married Robert Patterson on Oct. 17, 1947, at Joplin, He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, David Patterson, Long Beach, Calif., and Samuel Patterson, North Las Vegas; two daughters, Vicky McNew, Simi Valley, Calif., and Joyce Miskey, Las Vegas; three brothers, John Greninger, Jacksonville, Fla., and Harry Greninger and Charles Greninger, both of Joplin; two sisters, Eleanor Proctor, Kansas City, Mo., and Cora Taylor, Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services were at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Las Vegas, with burial under the direction of Affordable Cremation & Burial Service, Las Vegas.
Contributions may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
William Sharp
William Emery "Willy" Sharp II, 24, Lowry City, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at his home of an apparent suicide.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, William Emery and Barbara Sharp, Joplin.
Mr. Sharp was born May 5, 1972, at Windsor.
He attended school in Windsor and Pine Valley, Calif.
He was a graduate of Louisburg (Kan.) High School.
Additional survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Dan LaRue, El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Tracy Ann Sharp, Mauldin, S.C.; three stepbrothers, J.R. Allison, Lowry City, Phillip Dodson and Dennis Dodson, both of Fort Madison, Iowa; a stepsister, Tammy Young, Raytown; and maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Edna Wisner, El Dorado Springs.
Services were Sunday at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola. The Rev. Shawn Lindsey officiated.
Burial was in Bear Creek Cemetery, near Osceola.
Pallbearers were Mike Young, Timothy Hawkins, J.R. Allison, Dave Roberts, Kevin Linn and Delany Haven.
Robert West
Memorial services for Robert Earl West, 38, 1331 Michigan Ave., who died Tuesday, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Philips' Episcopal Church.
The body has been cremated.
Visitation will be after the service at 1331 Michigan Ave.
He worked at Garfield's in Joplin from Dec. 23, 1987, to Sept. 22, 1988.
Patsy Cline
NEVADA, Mo. - Patsy Jo Cline, 1-month-old daughter of Kenneth Albert Sr. and Cathy Jo Cline, Nevada, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 13, 1997, at San Antonio, Texas.
Additional survivors include a brother, Kenneth Albert Cline Jr., of the home; and grandparents, Lyle and Kay Christy, El Dorado Springs, and Dan and Sandy Kozlowski, Escondido, Calif.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The Rev. Terry Colwell will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.
Bee Easley
EAGLE ROCK, Mo. - Bee Edward Easley, 80, Eagle Rock, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 1997, at his home after an illness.
Mr. Easley was born April 30, 1916, at Eagle Rock and was a lifetime resident.
He was an active cattle farmer and instrumental in area community development.
He was ordained as a deacon at Rock Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Barry County.
He attended Roaring River Baptist Church, Eagle Rock.
He married Opal Lorrain Davidson on Dec. 6, 1936, at Exeter. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Truman Easley, Tulsa, Okla., Larry Easley, Berryville, Ark., Carl Easley, Springfield; two sisters, Genoa Newton and Bernice Reed, both of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roaring River Baptist Church.
The Rev. Paul Yarnall will officiate. Burial will be in Mano Cemetery, Eagle Rock.
Pallbearers will be Michael Easley, Kevin Easley, Lee Easley, Mark Easley, Hunter Austin, Robert Butcher and Steve Gage.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
