Gladys LaFleur
Gladys D. LaFleur, 70, 10469 Amanda Lane, died at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a short illness.
Mrs. LaFleur was born Feb. 27, 1927, at Flat River. She moved to Joplin in 1946 from Kansas City. She was a homemaker and a member of Reinmiller Independent Baptist Church.
She married Myron D. LaFleur on Aug. 31, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Myron L. LaFleur and Mike A. LaFleur, both of Joplin; a daughter, Kathy L. Holland, Joplin; four brothers, Dean Anderson and Carl Anderson, both of Ritchey, Herschel Anderson, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Harry Anderson, Racine; two sisters, Emma Lou Jones, Pierce City, and Carol Pierce, Ritchey; five granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
A son preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. The Rev. Kenneth Simonson will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery, southeast of Joplin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to Reinmiller Independent Baptist Church, in care of the mortuary.
Jaryl Beckett
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Jaryl L. Beckett, 28, 208 S. Summitt, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, March 3, 1997.
Jerry Neil, chief deputy of the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and acting Jasper County coroner, said he ruled the death a suicide.
Mr. Beckett was born July 9, 1968, at Carthage. He grew up in Pierce City and was graduated in 1986 from Pierce City High School. He served in the Navy for 8“ years and reached the rank of petty officer second class. He received law enforcement training in the Navy and attended the police academy at Missouri Southern State College, Joplin. He worked two years at the Carl Junction Police Department.
He married Melissa Forhan on Feb. 16, 1991 at Sugar Grove, W.Va. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Hailey Beckett, of the home; his father and stepmother, Joe and Sheri Beckett, Carthage; his stepfather, Johnnie Miller, Pierce City; three brothers, Randy Beckett, David Harris and Jerry Harris, all of Joplin; two sisters, Belinda Wright, Tucson, Ariz., and Elizabeth Miller, Pierce City; his paternal grandmother, Joan Nesbitt, Carthage; and his maternal grandmother, Mae Riddle, Kansas City.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Webb City. The Rev. David Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Pierce City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Taylor, Bryan Thompson, Tom Kitch, Jeff Wood, Andy Pike and David Harris.
Donations may be made to the Jaryl Beckett Memorial Fund in care of Great Southern Bank, 1710 E. 32nd St., Joplin, Mo., 64804.

James Buzzard
SENECA, Mo. - Memorial services for James Weldon Buzzard, 77, Gold Hill, Ore., a former Seneca resident who died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, Ore., of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Seneca First Christian Church.
The Rev. Buel Buzzard will officiate. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery, where graveside Masonic services will be conducted.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Contributions may be made to the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in care of the funeral home.
Survivors not listed in Wednesday's editions include a daughter, Marsha Devoti, Springfield; and two sisters, Brodus Messenger, Independence, Kan., and Marguerite Lawson, Joplin.
Eunice Christner
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Eunice Christner, 98, Venice, Fla., a Carthage native, died at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at her home after an illness.
Ms. Christner was born Dec. 18, 1898, in Carthage. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Venice Yacht Club, Mission Valley Country Club and Venice United Church of Christ, all of Venice.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Davies, Vero Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ewing Funeral Home, Venice, Fla.
Ellen Fosse
WASHBURN, Mo. - Ellen Ione Fosse, 65, Washburn, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at a Cassville nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Fosse was born Jan. 25, 1932, at Stuart, Iowa. She was graduated from Stewart High School. She moved to Cassville in 1980 from the state of California.
She married Earl Oliver Fosse on June 15, 1951, at Everett, Wash. He died Feb. 15, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Taylor Fosse, Washburn; three brothers, Samuel McIntire, Des Moines, Iowa, John McIntire, Redwood City, Calif., and Eugene McIntire, New Baden, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Pamela Farren will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date.
Hertha Giehmann
GOLDEN CITY, Mo. - Hertha G. Giehmann, 94, Golden City, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at a nursing home in Greenfield after an illness.
Mrs. Giehmann was born Dec. 27, 1902, at Berlin, Germany. She was graduated from high school and business college in Berlin. She had been a payroll clerk before she moved to the United States. She was a secretary for Reliable Life Insurance in Joplin. She and her husband owned and operated White Court Motel in Carthage.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Roselle, N.J.
She married Herbert W. Giehmann on March 28, 1926, at Elizabeth, N.J. He died Nov. 30, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Dimmick, Mountain Side, N.J., and Charlotte Huser, Golden City; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated under the direction of Lockwood (Mo.) Funeral Chapel.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Roselle, N.J.

Russell Hadley
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Russell B. "Russ" Hadley, 34, Carthage route 5, was pronounced dead at 6:41 p.m. Monday, March 3, 1997, at McCune-Brooks Hospital after a heart attack.
Mr. Hadley was born June 26, 1962, at Purdy. He lived most of his life in the Carthage area. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
He married Karen B. Bruegemann on Aug. 14, 1993, at Pacific. She died Oct. 30, 1993.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Reding, Port Orange, Fla.; a brother, Steven Reding, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Stephanie Hadley, Tulsa, Okla.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Carthage. Paul Shultz will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, after which the body will be cremated.
Contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Carthage, in care of the funeral home.
