Retta McNabb
AURORA, Mo. - Retta J. McNabb, 95, Aurora, died at 1:22 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 1997, at an Aurora nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. McNabb was born Feb. 8, 1902, in Eagle Rock. She moved to Aurora in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She married Charles McNabb on Feb. 10, 1940. He died Aug. 18, 1979.
She is survived by a stepson, Walter McNabb, Norman, Okla.; six step-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home. The Rev. Cliff Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
David Root
GREENFIELD, Mo. - David Wesley Root, 79, Greenfield, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 1997, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Root was born March 16, 1917, at Lincoln, Neb. He was a machinist supervisor.
He was a member of Mount Olive Christian Church and Greenfield American Legion Post No. 47. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Miriam Somerset on Dec. 8, 1942, at Macedon, N.Y. She survives.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Charles Root, David City, Neb., James Root, Boulder, Colo., and Marvin Root, Lake City, Fla.; and two sisters, Hazel Potter, Shortsville, N.Y., and Maxine Beach, Eagle, Neb.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Gene Burnside will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 47.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri.
Robert Smith
NEVADA, Mo. - Robert Joseph Smith, 48, Nevada, died Friday, March 14, 1997, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Smith was born March 2, 1949, in Nevada and was a lifetime resident. He had worked at the Nevada State Hospital and in the Sheldon (Mo.) school district. He also was a farmer.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Survivors include three daughters, Stacie Jo Roland, Nevada, Anna Mary Cusick, Quapaw, Okla., and Roberta Jolene Smith, Nevada; two brothers, Henry Abner Smith and William Kenneth Smith, both of Nevada; five sisters, Pat Robb, Montevallo, Della Holman, Nevada, Marilyn Spencer, Walker, Peggy Peterson, Girard, Kan., and Jacqueline Barrows, Baxter Springs, Kan.; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan.
Friends may call until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Beauty White
GREENFIELD, Mo. - Beauty White, 93, Greenfield, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 1997, at a nursing home in Lockwood after an illness.
Mrs. White was born Oct. 6, 1903, at Arcola.
She married Horace White on Sept. 2, 1922. He died in 1968.
Survivors include a son, Thedford White, Springfield; a daughter, Dorothy Diefenderfer, Jerico Springs; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One daughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Martens will officiate. Burial will be in Arcola Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Bonnie DeFrance
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Bonnie Jean DeFrance, 60, Carl Junction, died Sunday afternoon, March 16, 1997, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, after a long illness.
Mrs. DeFrance was born March 23, 1936, at Honolulu, Hawaii.
She graduated in 1954 from Baxter Springs (Kan.) High School.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority. She married Max DeFrance on Sept. 17, 1955, at Baxter Springs. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Lori Countryman, Fenton, and Melissa Jecker, Austin, Texas; a son, James DeFrance, Kirkwood; her father, Alton K. Blosser, Raytown; two brothers, Alton Kent Blosser Jr., Vero Beach, Fla., and Marshall Blosser, Topeka, Kan.; and three grandchildren. The body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Royal Heights Methodist Church, Joplin.

Blaine Farber
NEOSHO, Mo. - Blaine Donovan Farber, 79, 1258 Circle Drive, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 1997, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Farber was born Aug. 22, 1917, at St. Louis.
He received his education in St. Louis. He was retired from the Placer County School District.
He was a vocational education instructor and taught automotive engineering.
He was a member of Neosho United Methodist Church, the Neosho Methodist Men's Group, American Legion Post No. 163 of Neosho, and the 40 and 8 Societe. He was a board member of the Newton County Senior Citizens, past commander of American Legion Post No. 259 of Paradise, Calif., and past president of the Grass Valley (Calif.) Sportsmen Club.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Barclay Farber; two daughters, Jacquelyn Dunand, Ouroux, France, and Sandra Hand, Palm Springs, Calif.; a son, Donovan Blaine Farber, Grass Valley, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Neosho United Methodist Church.
The Rev. J.C. Harp will officiate.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
A flag-folding ceremony will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 163.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Ruby Kuhn
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Ruby Mae Kuhn, 85, Kansas City, Kan., a former Carl Junction resident, died at 2:35 a.m. Monday, March 17, 1997, at a Kansas City, Kan., nursing home after five months of ill health.
Mrs. Kuhn was born Feb. 6, 1912, in Carl Junction.
She lived in Carl Junction until the age of 13, when she moved to Kansas City, Kan.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Herman Kuhn, died in December 1978.
Survivors include three brothers, Orville Lynn, Joplin, Harold Lynn, Kansas City, Kan., and Donald Lynn, Bertrand.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carl Junction Cemetery. Randy L. Wilson, minister, will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City.
Marie Morgan
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Marie Boyd Morgan, 78, Columbus, Ga., a former Webb City resident, died at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, after an illness.
Mrs. Morgan was born at Tar River, Okla.
She moved to Webb City, where she graduated from high school in 1937.
She had lived in Columbus since 1948.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church, Columbus.
Her husband, Richard F. Morgan Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter Judy Rusnak, Butler; Richard F. Morgan II, Columbus; a sister, Helen Newman, Webb City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus.
The Rev. Gaston Pollock will officiate.
