Adalia Gillett
Adalia Marie Popp Gillett, 94, 2502 Moffet Ave., died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.
Mrs. Gillett was born May 23, 1902, at Grainfield, Kan.
She moved to Joplin four years ago from Quinter, Kan.
She was graduated from of Ottawa (Kan.) University.
She was a school teacher for 37 years and retired from the Weld Central District.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at Quinter, the National Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She married James Gillett on July 10, 1928, at Grainfield.
He died April 18, 1984. Survivors include a son, John Gillett, Carl Junction; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Aurelia Maples
NEOSHO, Mo. - Aurelia Ethel Hyatt Maples, 93, 7963 Lime Kiln Road, died at noon Wednesday, March 25, 1997, at McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, after a short illness.
Mrs. Maples was born March 30, 1903, at Murphy, N.C.
She moved to Neosho from Jasper in 1992.
She was a homemaker.
She married Wayne Maples on Jan. 5, 1939, in Fanning County, Ga.
He died in 1968.
Survivors include a son, Bill Maples, Neosho; a daughter, Bettie Lambert, Louisville, Colo.; two brothers, Guy Hyatt, state of North Carolina, and Ray Hyatt, state of Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Mashburn, state of North Carolina, and Inez Arp, state of Florida; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hyatt Cemetery, Murphy, N.C.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Bracy Martinez
LIBERAL, Mo. - Bracy James Martinez, 17, Fort Scott, Kan., formerly of Liberal, was pronounced dead at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, on a road near Moundville.
The death has been ruled a suicide.
Mr. Martinez was born July 13, 1979, at Parsons, Kan.
He worked at Wendy's restaurant, Fort Scott.
Survivors include his parents, Cindy and Terry Hobbs, Liberal; two brothers, Tracy Martinez, La Cygne, Kan., and Christopher Martinez, Liberal; a sister, Fredia Cox, Fort Scott; a stepsister, Brady Kirch, Fort Scott; maternal grandparents, Homer and Deloris Wisdom, state of Kansas; and paternal grandfather, Dale Hobbs, Arcadia, Kan.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Leroy Cemetery, Liberal, with the Rev. Thayne Fast officiating.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.
Rex Maxwell
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Rex Allen Maxwell, 46, 201 Karen Drive, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at home after a one-year illness.
Mr. Maxwell was born April 26, 1950, at Webb City.
He was a lifelong Carl Junction resident.
He was graduated in 1968 from Carl Junction High School.
He was a contractor.
He was a member of Carl Junction Masonic Lodge and Carl Junction United Methodist Church.
He married Christine Kiser on Sept. 27, 1991.
She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Heather Maxwell, of the home; his mother, Willa Maxwell, Carl Junction; and a brother, Joe Maxwell, Carl Junction.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Carl Junction United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Bob Simon will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Ed Ports, Glen Yarlbough Jr., Ronnie Watson, David Collard, Richard Donham and John Winnett.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Simpson Funeral Home, Carl Junction.
Raymond Spicka
MONETT, Mo. - Raymond M. Spicka, 73, Monett, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Spicka was born Sept. 3, 1923, in the state of Nebraska.
He was a truck driver and a Catholic.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Oakdale Cemetery, Monett.
The Rev. John Braun and the Rev. Olan Raney will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
Alice Stone
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Alice L. Stone, 81, 200 Karen Drive, died at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a two-month illness.
Mrs. Stone was born June 18, 1915, at Pittsburg, Kan.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church of Carl Junction.
Her husband, Rueben Stone, died in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Carl Stone, Rockingham, N.C.; three daughters, Ruby Dunn, 502 Brentwood Drive, Collene Warren, Phoenix, Ariz., and Charlene Purcell, Arlington, Texas; seven brothers, Quincy Wood, Harold Wood, Lonzo Wood and George Wood, all of Pittsburg, James Wood, Carl Junction, Joe Wood, Webb City, and Dean Wood, Butler; four sisters, Juanita Roberts, Joplin, Evelyn McClelland, Norwood, Alpha Bolinger, Caldwell, Idaho, and Ethel Stewart, Seminole, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Carl Junction Cemetery.

Robert Barteaux
Robert Hartley "Bart" Barteaux, 75, 5446 Butterfield Drive, Loma Linda Estates, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at a nursing home in Lowell, Kan., after a long illness.
Mr. Barteaux was born Dec. 22, 1921, at Ridley Park, Pa.
He was graduated from Penn State University with a degree in industrial engineering.
He was a registered professional engineer and served on the Technical and Operating Committee of the Steel Founder's Society of America for 20 years.
As their representative, he delivered an exchange lecture to the British Steel Foundrymen in Coventry, England, in 1982.
His 43-year career included foundry superintendent of Ferro Machine and Foundry and Crucible Steel Castings, Cleveland, Ohio; Texas Electric Steel Castings Co., Houston, Texas; Missouri Steel Castings Co., Joplin; plant manager and director of operations of Florida Machine and Foundry, Jacksonville, Fla.; vice president of Consolidated Foundries and Manufacturing Corp., Albany, N.Y.; and president of Western Foundry, Holland, Mich.
In 1984, he was sent to Maracaibo, Venezuela, by Texas Electric Steel as general manager of Fundosa, a steel foundry joint venture by American and Venezuela companies.
He returned to the United States in 1986 and was product manager and sales representative for Sivyer Steel Corp., Bettendorf, Iowa, and later general manager of Missouri Precision Castings, Joplin. He retired in 1990.
He owned and operated Four Bit Ranch, Joplin, from 1963 to 1971.
He was a member of the Jasper County School Board for six years.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Westminister Sunday school class and was on the Stewardship Committee.
He served in the Marine Corps for 3“ years and attained the rank of captain.
He married Marilyn Waugh on March 20, 1948, at Cleveland, Ohio. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Judson Barteaux, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Jacquelyn Kunec, Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada; two sisters, Mary Knaus, Brewster, Maine, and Emma Jane White, Calistoga, Calif.; and three grandsons.
The body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
