Margaret Ledford
ANDERSON, Mo. - Margaret Louise Ledford, 83, Anderson route 1, died at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after an illness.
Mrs. Ledford was born July 24, 1913, at Gate, Okla. She lived most of her life in the McDonald County area. She was a retired nurse's aide.
She attended Full Gospel Church in Anderson.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis Ledford, Redding, Calif., and Johnny Ledford, Tehachapi, Calif.; five daughters, Louise Doherty, Brentwood, Calif., Norma Adams and Ruth Fletcher, both of Anderson, Bertha Dohle, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Barbara Sutton, Little Valley, Calif.; two brothers, Chester Arnett and Howard Arnett, both of Anderson; a sister, Dorothy Coffman, Portland, Ore.; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson. Sam Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Cummings Chapel Cemetery, Anderson.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Morton Marion
NEOSHO, Mo. - J. Morton Marion, 95, Neosho, died at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at his daughter's home in Stark City after a long illness.
Mr. Marion was born Nov. 23, 1901, in Newton County. He moved to Colorado in 1977 and returned to Neosho in November 1994. He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He retired in 1963.
He married Jessie Christopher on Jan. 15, 1927, at Wichita, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Shirley Fosdick, Fowler, Colo., and Pat Stickler and Bobby Hounschell, both of Stark City; a brother, Chalmer Marion, Stark City; a sister, Goldie Gripe, Kimberling City; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, with J.R. Burr, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Dice Cemetery, Fairview.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hounschell, Kent Hounschell, Jerry Hounschell, Paul Hounschell, Dale Marion and Steven Wollert.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will also be at the home of Pat Stickler, Stark City.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. John's Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
Frances Scofield
LAMAR, Mo. - Frances H. Scofield, 84, Lamar, died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness.
Mrs. Scofield was born Oct. 30, 1912, at Plant City, Fla. She moved to Lamar in 1939 from Dudenville. She was a homemaker. She had been a salad maker for 18 years at Blue Top Restaurant, Lamar.
She attended Full Gospel Church, Lamar.
She married Edd Scofield on May 20, 1939, in Carthage. He died March 27, 1964.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Reta Morgan, Lamar; and several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar. The Rev. Larry Garfield will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
Billy Vance
GRANBY, Mo. - Billy Marlin Vance, 78, Granby, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a three-month illness.
Mr. Vance was born Jan., 30, 1919, at Granby. He was a lifelong Granby resident. He was a self-employed auto mechanic.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Granby. He was an Army veteran of World War II who served in the South Pacific and the Philippines.
He married May Simunek in 1942 at Omaha, Neb. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Joyce Ellen Vance Mann, Granby; two brothers, Gene Vance and Herbert Vance, both of Granby; a sister, Maudie May Snow, state of Colorado; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Granby, with the Rev. Rick Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Grove, Okla., Veterans Ritual Team.
Pallbearers will be Jack Vance, Kevin Vance, David Vance, Mark Vance, Don Hutchison and Todd Zacher.

Lenuel Berryhill
Lenuel M. Berryhill, 79, 2222 Joplin Ave., died at 11:59 a.m. Monday, March 17, 1997, at McCune Brooks Hospital, Carthage, after a short illness.
Mr. Berryhill was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Barton County. He moved to Joplin 10 years ago. He was a retired truck driver. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Joplin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 534.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard Berryhill, Reeds, and Dale Berryhill, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Wilma Seela, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Barbara Buffington, Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Norval Berryhill, Lamar; a sister, Rosa Good, Carthage; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper. Walter Howrey, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery, northwest of Jasper.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Jasper Rural Fire Department.
Esther Downing
Esther Daisy Downing, 94, Joplin, died Monday, March 17, 1997, at a Joplin nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Downing was born Feb. 2, 1903, at Alva, Okla. She was raised in Oklahoma, where she attended schools. She moved to Eureka, Kan., in her teens and to the Joplin area in 1988. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Christian Congregational Church and a longtime member of the Golden Age Club, both in Eureka.
She married Thomas Edward Downing on Jan. 15, 1929, at Eureka. He died July 19, 1966.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Downing, Eureka, and Jim Downing, Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Jeannine Ruth, Neosho, and Joan Barg, Coffeyville, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home, Eureka. Donald Stice will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
Contributions may be made to the Eureka Golden Age Club, in care of the funeral home.
Peter Brisard
NEOSHO, Mo. - Peter Henry Joseph Brisard, 89, Neosho, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday, March 17, 1997, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Brisard was born May 10, 1907, in Manchester, N.H. He moved to the Neosho area in 1961 from California. He worked at Rockwell International as a sheet-metal fitter and retired from Rocketdyne in 1971.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers and Fellowship Baptist Church, where he helped in the construction of the church. He served in the Army and the Marine Corps.
He married Lutie V. Oliver on Dec. 10, 1931, in El Paso, Texas. She died Jan. 23, 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Presson, Monett; a sister, Adrienne Pierce, Webb City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. The Rev. Russell Presson will officiate. Burial will be in Kenney Cemetery, Neosho.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey L. Renfro, John D. Renfro, Jim Renfro, Dean Renfro, J.D. Link and Bob Lyttle.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Grove (Okla.) Veterans Ritual Team.
