James Johnson
NEOSHO, Mo. - James Edward "Jimmy Ed" Johnson, 70, Hartford, Tenn., formerly of Neosho, died at 10 a.m. Thursday after an illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept 19, 1926, in Neosho.
He was graduated from Neosho High School in 1944.
He attended Central College in Fayette and was graduated from Mortuary College in Dallas, Texas.
He had been employed at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, Kan., and later at funeral homes in Tennessee.
He was a member of Christian Church, Neosho.
His wife, Corky Johnson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Johnson-Thorne, Neosho.
The body has been cremated and no services are planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Virginia Luttrell
AURORA, Mo. - Virginia Amy Luttrell, 89, Aurora, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Luttrell was born April 27, 1907, in Cato.
She was a retired business owner.
Survivors include a sister, Oletta Bennett, Goodman.
Her husband preceded her in death.
The body will be cremated and services are pending with Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.
Ronnie Milward
MONETT, Mo. - Ronnie Max Milward, 58, Monett, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at an acquaintance's Aurora home after a sudden illness.
Mr. Milward was born Sept. 8, 1938, at Cassville.
He moved to Monett last month from Verona.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Milward, Springdale, Ark., and Michael Milward, Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Rebecca Walker, Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Charlene Hagebusch, Pierce City, Carlene Morrison, Monett, Pamela Williams, Verona, and Judy Guthrie, Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Toby Perkins, Verona; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m Saturday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Donovan Nelson
LAMAR, Mo. - Donovan D. Nelson, 85, Lamar, died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at a Lockwood nursing home after a short illness.
Mr. Nelson was born Aug. 19, 1911, at College Springs, Iowa.
He moved to the Barton County area from Claremont.
He was a retired farmer.
Surviving is a brother, LeRoy Nelson, Charles City, Iowa.
The body has been cremated.
Memorial services are pending with Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.
Jessie Thomas
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Jessie Noveta Thomas, 87, Cassville, died at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Cox-Monett Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Thomas was born Feb. 14, 1909, at Purdy.
She was educated in Purdy.
She moved to the Cassville area in 1942.
She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Cassville.
She married Clovis Thomas on March 18, 1925, at Purdy.
He died June 26, 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Wilbur Thomas and Bill Thomas, both of Cassville; a daughter, Jane Yarnall, Cassville; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
The Rev. Paul Watson and the Rev. Jerry Yarnall will officiate.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
Pallbearers will be Ray Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, Randy Thomas, Tony Thomas, Jeff Yarnall and Tom Batsche.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri, in care of the funeral home.
Ruthanna Thompson
NEVADA, Mo. - Ruthanna Thompson, 68, Stickney, S.D., formerly of Nevada, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at a nursing home in Corsica, S.D., after a long illness.
Mrs. Thompson was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Atchison, Kan.
She retired in 1990 as lifestyle editor for The Nevada Daily Mail.
She had resided in Atchison, Lamar and for 24 years in Nevada, where she had volunteered for various organizations.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Stickney, S.D.
She married Eldon Thompson on Aug. 15, 1964, in Atchison. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Philip Thompson, Walker, and David Thompson, San Mateo, Calif.; a daughter, Marcella Lukenbill, Nevada; two half-brothers, Victor Albers, Billings, Mont., and Elmer Albers, Renton, Wash.; a sister, Laura Rose Minert, Topeka, Kan.; a half-sister, Esther Albers, Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Nevada.
The Rev. Herbert Rohe will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, west of Golden City.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Stelle, John McNeley, Mike Newman, Tim Bern, Kelly Bradham and Robby Gant.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
Kenneth Zelner
Kenneth Wayne Zelner, 35, Joplin, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mr. Zelner was born April 19, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa.
He had resided in Nevada, Carthage and Joplin.
Survivors include his father, William Zelner, Ada, Okla.; and his mother, Beverly Zelner, Boise, Idaho.
The body has been cremated and no services have been planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
