Bob Bell
GRANBY, Mo. - Bob L. Bell, 66, Houston, Texas, a former Granby area resident, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at Northwest Medical Center, Houston, after a short illness.
Mr. Bell was born June 12, 1930, at Treece, Kan.
He was graduated in 1948 from Granby High School.
He received a bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, and a master's degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He was a tax accountant and certified public accountant for Skelly-Getty Oil Co. and Texaco in Texas.
He was a member of United Church of God, Houston.
He was a veteran of the Army.
He married Patricia K. Brown on Nov. 26, 1954, in Granby. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Steve Bell, Tomball, Texas, and Robert Bell, Celina, Texas; his mother, Nellie Blanton, Temple, Texas; a half brother, Harold G. Loving, state of Arkansas; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
Jim Franks will officiate.
Burial will be in Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
The body will lie in state from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Ruth Hoover
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Ruth Alene Hoover, 70, Carthage route 3, died at 6:18 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, from injuries she sustained Monday in a two-car accident south of Carthage.
Mrs. Hoover was born Oct. 25, 1926, at Purdy.
She was a lifetime area resident.
She was a customer service representative for Flex-O-Laters in Carthage before she retired in 1990.
She was an Avon representative.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Purdy.
She married Jennings "J.C." Hoover in 1954. He died Jan. 7, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell E. Kissee, New Orleans, La., and Ronald E. Kissee, Galena, Kan.; a stepson, Joe Hoover, Springdale, Ark.; a sister, Eloise Nash, Carthage; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
The Rev. Wes Davis will officiate.
Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
J.E. Pogue
STELLA, Mo. - J.E. Pogue, 63, Coffeyville, Kan., a former Stella resident, died early Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Mr. Pogue was born April 1, 1933, in Stella.
He moved to Coffeyville in 1988.
He was graduated in 1951 from Stella High School.
He received a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in business from Pittsburg (Kan.) State University.
He taught business and coached football and tennis at Riverton, Kan., in 1956 and 1957.
He joined the Army Reserves in 1956 and the Missouri National Guard at Joplin in 1959.
He attended the General Staff and Command College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., in 1970.
He was battalion commander of the 110th Engineers Battalion at Kansas City in 1974 and was training officer for National Guard Training Headquarters at Jefferson City in 1981.
He was promoted to colonel in 1982.
He retired in 1988.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville and the Masonic Lodge in Missouri.
He married Alene Denny on Aug. 10, 1957, at Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Denny Joe Pogue, St. James, Russell Lee Pogue, Springfield, and Charles D. Pogue, Prairie Village, Kan.; a daughter, Beverly Brawdy, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Blanche Clanton, Stella; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Funeral Chapel, Coffeyville.
Burial was in Fawn Creek Cemetery, northeast of Tyro, Kan.
Military graveside services were conducted by the Missouri Army National Guard.
Contributions may be made to the building fund of First Southern Baptist Church, Coffeyville, or the Richard Block Cancer Foundation.
John Shouse
GREENFIELD, Mo. - John W. Shouse, 94, Greenfield, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Cox Medical Center North, Springfield, after an illness.
Mr. Shouse was born Jan. 26, 1902, at Cane Hill.
He was a farmer and a member of the Christian Church, Greenfield.
He married Fay Beach on Jan. 30, 1936, at Lamar. She survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Roy Shouse and Carl Shouse, both of Lockwood, Robert Shouse, Independence, Mo., David Shouse and Rick Shouse, both of Greenfield, and Joe Shouse, Halltown; three daughters, Nancy Davis and Janice Sneed, both of Dadeville, and Karen Blamey, Dothan, Ala.; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Gene Clack will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Howard Testerman
NEOSHO, Mo. - Howard Wayne Testerman, 72, Oklahoma City, Okla., a former Neosho area resident, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, after 2“ years of ill health.
Mr. Testerman was born May 13, 1924, at Webb City.
He lived in the Neosho area as a child.
He moved to Oklahoma City about 35 years ago from Miami, Okla.
He was a communications executive for Bell Telephone Co., where he worked for 37 years before he retired.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Lopez, Oklahoma City; a brother, Ernest Elwayne Testerman, Neosho; a sister, Ernestine Kistler, Brownstown, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
The Rev. Fred Franks will officiate.
Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, Tipton Ford community, north of Neosho.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Freda Wilson
MILLER, Mo. - Freda Wilma Wilson, 91, Miller, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at a Lockwood nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Wilson was born April 26, 1905, near Miller.
She was a lifelong area resident.
She was a homemaker and a member of Miller Baptist Church.
She married Otis Wilson on Feb. 28, 1925.
He died June 17, 1965.
Survivors include a son, Gary Wilson, Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller.
The Rev. O. Paul Ray will officiate.
Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery, northeast of Miller.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Rosetta Edwards
Rosetta J. Edwards, 91, 1710 Harlem Ave., died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at a local nursing home after several years of ill health.
Mrs. Edwards was born Oct. 2, 1905, at Birmingham, Iowa.
She moved to Joplin in May 1971 from Fairfield, Iowa.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
She was a past matron of Order of Eastern Star No. 544 at Stockport, Iowa, and was a past high priestess of Star of Bethlehem Order of White Shrine at Fairfield.
She married H. Elvin Edwards on Aug. 17, 1923, at Fairfield.
He died March 28, 1978.
Survivors include three daughters, Maxine Volmert, 1710 Harlem Ave., Darlene Doggett, Albuquerque, N.M., and Beverly Ann Divoll, Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
The Rev. George Wade will officiate.
Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael I. Winton, Michael J. Winton, William Doggett, Robert Doggett, Lowell F. Divoll and Patrick O'Neill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
