Georgia Lough
MINDENMINES, Mo. - Georgia A. Lough, 87, Mindenmines, died at 10:13 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg, Kan., after a five-month illness.
Mrs. Lough was born July 30, 1909, in Manhattan, Kan.
She moved to Minden in 1994 from Alba, where she had lived for 20 years.
She was a housewife and a member of the Christian Church in Manhattan.
She married Ralph M. Lough on Jan. 19, 1957. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Ralph Leroy Lough, Hutchison, Kan., and James A. Lough, Pittsburg; a daughter, Connie Sue Carter, state of California; four sisters, Dola McIntire, Randolph, Kan., Betty Hendricks, Torrington, Wyo., Gertrude Ashton and Katherine Shepherd, both of Manhattan; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Nashville Cemetery, north of Joplin.
Roy Miller, minister, will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City.
Larry Snyder
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Larry E. Snyder, 49, 204 N. Roney, died at 1:27 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mr. Snyder was born Dec. 31, 1946, at Gardner, Kan.
He was a disabled truck driver.
He moved about a year ago to Carl Junction from Pomona, Kan.
He married Leona Farris on July 16, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Bill Snyder, Overland Park, Kan.; two daughters, Lora Snyder and Tina Snyder, both of the home; his father, Vernon Snyder, Joplin; and a brother, Wayne Snyder, Pomona.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery at Ottawa, Kan.
Family members will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home, Carl Junction.
Cecil Cooper
Cecil W. Cooper, 77, Nampa, Idaho, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Boise, Idaho, after an illness.
He was the brother of Edmon Copper, Joplin.
Mr. Cooper was born March 29, 1919, in Barry County.
He grew up and received his education in McDonald County.
He lived in Yakima Valley, Wash., for 15 years, where he worked in the orchards.
He and his family moved to Nampa in 1961, where he worked for Dillon Auto Sales for more than 25 years.
He was a member of Fellowship Tabernacle, Nampa.
He married Dorothy M. Lee on Aug. 23, 1937, at Rocky Comfort. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Larry Cooper, Nampa; a daughter, Pat DeMarco, Reddings, Calif.; two brothers, Glen Cooper, Purdy, and Edmon Cooper, Joplin; two sisters, Blanche Lee, Richland, Wash., and Bernice Hughes, Grandview; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son preceded him in death.
Services were Monday at Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, with John Cook and Victor Maier, pastors, officiating.
Burial was in Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise.
Contributions may be made to the Fellowship Tabernacle.
Leo Grimmett
Leo D. Grimmett, 73, 102 E. Second St., died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Grimmett was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Joplin.
He was a lifetime area resident.
He was a former employee of Elmhurst Nursing Home in Webb City.
He was a Baptist and an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Stella Bowers on Nov. 27, 1967, in Joplin.
She died April 20, 1991.
Survivors include a sister, Wanda Buck, Westminster, Calif.
The body will be cremated.
Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Thomas Harris
Thomas E. "T.E." Harris, 85, Joplin route 1, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Harris was born June 5, 1911, at Higbee.
He moved to the Joplin area in 1947 from Sedalia.
He was district manager of National Life and Accident Insurance Company.
He retired and became an agent for Time Insurance Company.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webb City.
He married Martha Hayden on June 26, 1929, at Fayette. She died in 1992.
Survivors include four sons, Drexel Harris and Duane Harris, both of Joplin, Keith Harris, Fort Worth, Texas, and Kent Harris, Seneca; a foster son, Kirk Hayden, Eldorado Hills, Calif.; a sister, Goldie Pearl Hamilton, Higbee; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
One son preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Webb City.
The Rev. Bob Easton and the Rev. Don Laughlin will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City.
Pallbearers will be Wilford Cantrell, Ron Barton, Selden Carter, Carl Gilliam, Harry Greninger and Bill Duensing.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City, where visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, in care of First Baptist Church in Webb City.
Malinda McGauthey
WALKER, Mo. - Malinda Frances McGauthey, 94, Walker, died Thursday night, Dec. 19, 1996, at Nevada (Mo.) Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Mrs. McGauthey was born Dec. 6, 1902, at El Dorado Springs.
She moved to Walker in 1943.
She formerly lived in Appleton City.
She owned and operated restaurants in El Dorado Springs and Walker.
She also had been a cook on a bridge gang that worked in Missouri and Kansas.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Appleton City.
She married Lee Roy McGauthey on Aug. 19, 1923, at Appleton City. He died in 1975.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Appleton City (Mo.) Cemetery.
The Rev. Keith Mackey will officiate.
Friends may call until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
Emily Oglesby
LAMAR, Mo. - Emily DeAnne Oglesby, infant daughter of Randy Dean and Donna Faye Oglesby, Lamar, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after an illness.
She was born at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada.
Additional survivors include paternal grandparents, Wayne and Joan Oglesby, Lamar; maternal grandmother, Bea Choate, Golden City; maternal grandfather, Harland Choate, Webb City; and paternal great-grandparents Wilma Goodnight, Reeds, and Cora Oglesby, Jasper.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church, east of Lamar, with Steve Summers officiating.
Burial will be in Moorehead Cemetery, east of Lamar.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
