Hollis Harper
GREENFIELD, Mo. - Hollis William Harper, 76, Independence, formerly of Greenfield, died at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at Columbia Independence Regional Hospital after an illness.
Mr. Harper was born July 20, 1920, at Greenfield.
He was a machine operator.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Greenfield.
He married Octavia White on Aug. 3, 1940. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Pamela Brann, Pleasant Hill, and Phyllis Fanning, Nevada; a brother, Lawrence Harper, Greenfield; a sister, Blanche Wilson, Golden City; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Elton White will officiate.
Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, north of Greenfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carson Funeral Home, Independence.
Arrangements are under the direction of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
Jean Willett
GREENFIELD, Mo. - Jean Colley Willett, 87, Greenfield, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Willett was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Lawrence County.
She lived most of her married life in Greenfield.
She was a homemaker.
She served 37 years as a volunteer fund-raiser for the Developmental Center of the Ozarks, Springfield.
She was Seventh District president of the Missouri Federated Club and president of the First Christian Church Christian Women's Fellowship.
She was president of the Greenfield Garden Club and Greenfield Literary and Civic Club.
She married Claud Willett on Sept. 14, 1946, at Oklahoma City, Okla. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Martha Friend, Greenfield; a brother, Lawrence Colley, LaRussell; a sister, Lucille Colley, Springfield; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Gene Clack and Rev. Harold McMasters will officiate.
Burial will be in Ulmer Cemetery, north of Greenfield.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Developmental Center of the Ozarks, First Christian Church CWF, or the Greenfield Library.
Robert Baker
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Robert S. Baker, 56, 606 N. Main, died at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mr. Baker was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Wilkinson, Ind.
He moved to Webb City in 1994 from the state of Florida.
He was a sales representative in advertising.
He was a member of Christ Church, Oronogo.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Roberts Baker, of the home; two sons, Michael Baker, Bloomington, Ill., and Stephen Baker, Webb City; a daughter, Angela Massey, Indianapolis, Ind.; his father, Loren Baker, Morristown, Ind.; a brother, John Baker, Indianapolis; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church of Oronogo.
The Rev. Kent Williams will officiate.
The body has been cremated.
Albert Cox
AURORA, Mo. - Albert M. Cox, 90, Aurora, died at 10:18 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996 at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Cox was born May 2, 1906 at Mound Valley, Kan.
He was a member of Aurora United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 284, and Order of the Eastern Star No. 202.
He was a retired postal employee from the Kansas City area.
He married Pauline Ray on Sept. 7, 1932 in Parsons, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Tom Cox, Aurora; a daughter, Kay Lea, Branson; a brother, Freal Cox, Kansas City; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Crafton-Cantrell Chapel.
The Rev. Harold Gold will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Maple Park, Aurora.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
Robert Jenks
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Robert E. Jenks, 80, Cassville, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Jenks was born June 25, 1916, in Winnebago, Minn.
He moved to Cassville in 1992 from California.
He retired after 35 years as a merchandising manager for J.C. Penney Co.
He was a Presbyterian.
He married Viktorija Papp Milinkovich on Jan. 27, 1969, in Los Angeles, Calif. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Robert Jenks, Los Angeles, and Ronald Jenks, San Francisco, Calif.; a stepson, Charlie Milinkovich, Exeter; two stepdaughters, Olivia Payne, Cassville, and Maria Rumack, Los Angeles; three brothers, David Jenks, Pismo Beach, Calif., and Harry Jenks and Dean Jenks, both of Los Angeles; a sister, Marge Schmidt, Palm Desert, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville. Sid Allsbury, minister, will officiate.
Leta Owens
BUTTERFIELD, Mo. - Leta Alene Owens, 70, Springfield, formerly of Butterfield, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at a daughter's residence in Springfield after a long illness.
Mrs. Owens was born July 18, 1926, at Butterfield.
She left Butterfield in 1947 and lived in California for several years.
She moved to Springfield in July 1996 because of poor health.
She was a pharmacy technician at Jackson Drug, Anaheim, Calif., for 35 years before she retired.
She was a member of Butterfield Baptist Church and Placentia Senior Citizens Center, Placentia, Calif.
She married Billy David Owens on July 28, 1943, at Cassville.
He died on Sept. 28, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ann Rose, Springfield, and Connie Jo Ray, Fort Pierce, Fla.; a son, Jeffery David Owens, Wildomar, Calif.; two brothers, George Elburn Ulmer and William Elmer Ulmer, both of Cassville; a sister, Beula Chism, El Dorado Springs; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville.
Ed Holt, minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Chism, Bert Owens, James Owens, Joseph Owens, Eddie Ulmer and Jimmy Ulmer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Raymond Powell
JASPER, Mo. - Raymond Harry Powell, 80, 211 Bert St., died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Powell was born Dec. 5, 1916, in Winterset, Iowa.
He moved to the Jasper area in 1968 from Iowa.
He drove a school bus for Jasper schools and was a retired carpenter.
He was a member of Jasper Christian Church.
He married Bernice Ross on March 9, 1941, in Creston, Iowa. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Ralph Powell, Wichita, Kan., and Dale Powell, Skidmore; three daughters, Alice Strickland, Clearwater, British Columbia, Canada, Shirley Shoup, Webb City, and Joyce Powers, Carthage; a sister, Edna Krow, Burlington, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
Steve Bryant, minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper.
