Thelma Ball
Funeral services for Thelma Ball, 92, West Plains, Mo., will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at First Baptist Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ball died 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in West Vue Nursing Center.
She was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Salem, Ark., to Ed and Mary Barker Collins.
She received her education in the schools of Sturkie, Ark., and on July 3, 1932, was married at Moody, Mo., to Dalton Ball, who preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2006.
Mrs. Ball, along with her husband, co-owned and operated general stores at Sturkie, Ark., and Lebo, Mo., and for over 20 years owned and operated Ball’s Station and Grocery on west U.S. 160.
She was a member of Mizpah Rebekah Lodge No. 77 and a long-time member of First Baptist Church of West Plains.
She is survived by one daughter, Lyndall Bridges, husband, Junior, West Plains; three grandchildren, Kelly Bridges, wife, Debbie, LaDonna Bridges, and Greg Bridges, wife, Leslie; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; grandson, Bruce Bridges; and one brother preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department of West Vue Nursing Center or Gideon Bible Society and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Wanda Clark
Wanda Johnson Clark was born Aug. 1, 1934, in Oregon County, Mo., and died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Independence.
She graduated from West Plains High School in 1952, and retired from Kansas City Royals baseball in 2000.
She was a member of Carlisle Baptist Church in Independence.
She is survived by five sisters, Jeannette Ware, Sugar Creek, Mo., Velma Holzkamper, Rogers, Ark., Virginia Dailey, Koshkonong, Mo., Barbara Miller, Independence, Mo., Ruby Rooney, Sugar Creek, Mo.; four brothers, William Johnson, Burbank, Wash., Charles Johnson, Lakewood, Wash., Jim Johnson, Independence, and Ronnie Johnson, Liberty, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alta Johnson; a brother, Richard Johnson; one niece; and one nephew.
Private services will be held.
Wesley W. Jackson
Wesley Wayne Jackson of Kansas City, Mo., departed this life Jan. 21, 2007, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Wes was born Jan. 26, 1922, near Alton, Mo., to Clyde Earnest and Etta Hodges Jackson.
He was their only son, but his sister, Evelyn Louise Jackson, was born in 1928.
Wesley attended Bryan School near Alton, and he graduated from Alton High School in 1941.
Wes became a Christian at a young age and attended Macedonia Baptist Church and Smyrna Baptist Church with his family.
In Kansas City, he was a member of Winnwood Baptist Church for 50 years.
Wesley participated in the CCC program by working in the infirmary at Camps Winona and Ellington.
After graduation, Wes came to Kansas City and worked briefly for the Armour Meat Packing House.
Wes was a veteran of WW II having served in the European Theater as a medical technician with the 51st Army Field Hospital.
He was a D-Day survivor.
After the war, Wes married his girlfriend, Zeta Jo Raney, of Mtn. Grove, Mo., on June 9, 1946.
To this union, was born one daughter, Vicki.
Wes attended Barber College and was the owner of the Claycomo Barbershop for over 30 years.
In 1970, Wesley went to work for JCPenney as a salesman in the men’s department.
Wes retired from Penney’s in 1987, but continued working at Penney’s and at the barbershop on a part-time basis until 1991.
In his later years health problems restricted some of his activities, but he still enjoyed taking care of his home, walking with friends, running errands, dining out and making annual trips to various reunions.
A fall on the basement steps of his home on Nov. 7, 2004, set in motion a series of health events from which Wesley would not fully recover.
On July 21, 2005, Wes was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia.
He was cared for in the home until May 4, 2006, when he entered care at the Mo. Veterans’ Home in Cameron, Mo.
Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and two nephews.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Zeta Raney Jackson, and daughter Vicki of Kansas City; one sister-in-law; two nieces and their families; three nephews and their families.
Also to mourn his passing are his cousins, Golda Daffron, Alton, Mo., and Ann (Stan) Garrens, Centralia, Ill.; plus a number of extended cousins living in the West Plains and Alton area, and a host of friends.
Wesley was a loving, devoted husband and a loving supportive father.
He will, indeed, be missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing that Wes is at home with the Lord.
Funeral services were held at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mo., on Jan. 26, 2007, on what would have been Wesley’s 85th birthday.
Rev. Tony Colburn and Rev. Harland Ginn officiated.
Songs included “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “Amazing Grace” (sung by neighbor Marilyn Green), “Precious Lord,” and “I Believe” (sung by nephew Gary Parlier).
On Feb. 23, 2007, memorial services to honor Wesley Jackson and others will be held at 1 p.m. at the Mo. Veterans’ Home in Cameron, Mo.

Graveside services for Christina Rae Palangi, 39, West Plains, Mo., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Palangi died 11:06 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at her home. She was born Nov. 4, 1967, in the state of Massachusetts, the daughter of Mark Maurice and Elaine Mae Budde Magenot.
She was employed as a nurse’s aide at West Vue Nursing Center.
Mrs. Palangi was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She is survived by a loving church family and many friends.
Her parents and one sister, Linda, preceded her in death.

Brian Reed
Funeral services for Brian Lee Reed, 24, West Plains, Mo., will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Reed died 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Ozarks Medical Center. He was born Oct. 19, 1982, in West Plains to Maverick Dean Reed and Barbara Ann Creasey Jones.
He was married to Leona Bowen, and was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marines.
Mr. Reed was employed at West Plains Glass Company and attended Curry Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son, Derick Lee Jacob Wilson, West Plains; father, Maverick Dean Reed, wife, Geneive, Winona, Mo.; stepmother, Virginia May Reed, Winona; one sister, Amanda Jones, West Plains; four stepbrothers, J.R. Tate, Ava, Mo., George Tate, Olden, Mo., Joey Hodo and Eddie Hodo, both of West Plains; one stepsister, Lela Gunter, West Plains; his uncle, Bill Creasey, Buffalo, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
His mother; and one sister, Ventta Tate, preceded him in death.

Mae Reed
Graveside services for Mae Maxine Reed, 91, West Plains, Mo., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reed died 7:35 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in West Vue Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Hebron, Mo., to Edward Madison and Mary Hampton Sharp Loring.
On May 24, 1935, she was married at Soloman, Kan., to Claude Owen Reed, who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1995.
Mrs. Reed had worked at Wilkie Drug Store, and before her retirement had been employed for several years at Padgett Hardware. She loved to fish.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by five children, Jerald Loring, wife, Reva, Willow Springs, Mo., Donald Reed, wife, Josephine, Gainesville, Mo., Joy Rieger, husband, Joseph, West Plains, Mary Lou Hambelton, Dora, Mo., and John Reed, wife, Sandy, Jefferson City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Madison Loring Jr., wife, Nina, Sheridan, Wyo.; two sisters, Irene Stephens, Santa Fe Springs, Colo., and Ruth Reed, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, one son-in-law, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
