Andrew J. "Jack" Turner
Andrew J. "Jack" Turner, Reeds Spring, Missouri, son of George and Vella (Underwood) Turner was born June 24, 1917 at Radical, Missouri in Stone County and departed this life July 30, 2003, with his family at his side, in Tablerock Healthcare Center, Kimberling City at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 6 days. Jack was united in marriage to Ruby A. "Alene" White, May 21, 1938 and he was a lifelong resident of the area. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Jack was the owner and developer of Silver Bell Acres Subdivision and Turner's Estate Subdivision. He was active in many organizations over the years including Galena Masonic Lodge #515 AF & AM and Galena Chapter #7 OES. The VFW Post #03867 of Reeds Spring and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32 degrees, Joplin. Abou Ben Adhem Temple-AAONMS of Springfield and Grand Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill, Ozark Order #109. He also served on the Board of Directors of White River Valley Electric Cooperation. Jack's favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and gardening. Survivors include: his wife, Alene; one son, Wendell and his wife, LaVonne of Reeds Spring; one brother, Corbet Turner of Fresno, California; two sisters, Maude Carney of Kilgore, Texas and Georgia Reese of Springfield, Missouri; two grandsons, Brad Turner and Greg Warlick; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2003 in Stumpff Chapel-South, Kimberling City with Joe Dan Edwards officiating. Burial was in Philibert Cemetery.

Lena Irene Coyle
Lena "Irene" Coyle, age 90, of Troy, Missouri, formerly of Ozark, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003 in Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center, Troy, Missouri. Mrs. Coyle was born September 10, 1912 in Richland, Missouri, the daughter of Rob and Monte (Harold) Sellars. On June 25, 1930 she married Ivan Coyle. Irene was a homemaker, she owned and operated the Ozark Cafe for a short time, and most of her life was dedicated to assisting her husband in his ministries. In 1995 Irene moved to Troy, Missouri; in 2000 she moved to Liberty, Missouri; and in 2001 she moved back to Troy where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and a past member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark. She was als oa past president of the Women's Missionary Union and a member of the Hopedale Extension Club. Irene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Reverend Ivan Coyle; a son, Alfred Coyle; and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters, LaNelle Thornton and husband, Leonard of Liberty, MO, and Linda Polly and husband, Tom of Winfield, MO; a son, Robert Coyle of Brighton, CO; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Ozark with Rev. Troy Rhoden and Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating; burial to follow in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. A visitation will be today 6 t o8 p.m. in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, and from 9:30 until service time Wednesday in the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ozark, Building Fund, or Amheart Hospice, 451 Main Street, Troy, MO 63379.

Donald "Bud" Branison
Donald "Bud" Branison passed away August 2, 2003 at 10:02 p.m. in his home. He was born in Snowball, Arkansas, May 26, 1939 and attended school in Harrison, Arkansas, where he was a standout on the Goblin's football team. Bud was preceded in death by his stepfather, H. L. Stringer, and his beloved grandmother, Sarah Jane Mann. He is survived by his wife of 42 1/2 years, Janie, his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Debbie Branison, and two grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Branison, all of Springfield. Also surviving are his mother, Fay Stringer, and three brothers, Seigel, Denzell and his wife Phyllis, and J. D. Stringer, all of Harrison, Arkansas, and a brother-in-law, Ron Howard and his wife, Phyllis of Joplin. Bud had been an avid sportsman fishing, hunting and playing golf. Fishing was his first love, and he fished and won many tournaments in the 1970s. He was also a guide on Table Rock Lake and Stockton Lake. He owned and operated Bud's Red Garter until his illness forced him to retire. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today and the funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospices of America.

Kenneth Lloyd Southwell, Sr.
Kenneth Lloyd Southwell, Sr., 72, left this life, Sunday, August 3, 2003 to begin his new life with the Lord. Kenneth was born on January 13, 1931 in Thomas, Oklahoma. He was a newspaper composer for 28 years for The Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK. He retired from Bass Pro in 1998. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Donna (Cox) Southwell; two sons, Douglas and his wife, Bonney, and Kenneth Southwell, Jr.; two daughters, Jamie Bridges and her husband, David, and Joy Sherrer and her husband, John; three brothers, Robert and his wife, Claudia, Wayne and his wife, Janice, and Warren and his wife, Dorothy; three sisters, Helen Roberts, Blanche Dodson, and Violet Smith and her husband, Arthur; and one brother-in-law, Coval Tharp. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister, Marie Tharp; and one step-son, Donnie Taylor. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave. Arrangements are under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO 65806. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family in Mr. Southwell's memory.

Helen Marie McGinnis
Helen Marie McGinnis, 78, Republic, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003 in Cox South hospital, Springfield. She was born July 23, 1925 on a farm near Republic and returned to make her home there for the last 40 years. Helen earned her Master's Degree at Southwest Missouri State College and was a 25 year member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. She was one of the original teachers in Springfield's learning disabilities classes and was the recipient of awards for 20 years service to the youth of Springfield public schools and for outstanding activity for Special Olympics. She was past president of the MSTA. Helen was an active member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Republic and enjoyed the monthly dinners with the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg L. McGinnis in 1971 and her parents, Paul and Elsa (Gunther) Geilert. She is survived by a son and his wife, Greg Alan and Jean McGinnis, Republic; two grandchildren, Greg Wayne McGinnis and Amy Fahrlander; a brother and wife, Emil and Sevella Geilert; a sister and husband, Juanita and Wayne Hamilton; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in the Hope Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Brian Whittle under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 in Harrington Cemetery, Republic. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Leonard Calvin Wilkins
Leonard Calvin Wilkins, 89, a 17 year resident of Springfield went to his heavenly home on August 2 after a brief history of congestive heart failure. Leonard was born to Orlando and Lou Wilkins in Posper, Oregon. They, along with a sister, Bea Rockwell, and brothers, Roy and Ralph Wilkins, preceded him in death. He is survived by Geri, his wife of 56 years; three sons and their wives, Gary and Toni of Renton, WA, Howard and Debbie, Lake of the Ozarks, and Phil and Sharon of Springfield; grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren include Annette of Boise, Idaho, Allen and Barbara and great-grandchildren, Beth and Greg, Rolla, David, Kansas City, and Pat and Julie, Springfield; step-granddaughter, Wendy Mee; and step-great-grandchildren, Brianne, Britnee, and Bailey of Madera, CA; one sister, Faye Roberts, and one brother, J.H. Wilkins, both of Seattle, WA. Leonard lived most of his early life in Yakima, WA, before moving to Lee's Summit, MO. He worked over 29 years as an engineers assistant at Bendix Corporation in Kansas City. He and Geri were members of the Lee's Summit First Assembly of God Church for 34 years before moving to Fresno, CA, for two years. Since 1986 they have lived in Springfield and belong to Park Crest Assembly of God where he has served as a greeter and active in the Oasis senior citizens group. Leonard was know as a gentle, soft-spoken man of few words. He was a handyman who enjoyed helping people and never shrank from a challenge. The joy that he derived from painting, assembling, or doing yard work was best exemplified by his soft but constant whistling while he worked. He never demanded or drew attention to himself, but commanded love and respect from all who knew him. His quiet, unassuming presence, subtle sense of humor, and joyful spirit will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at Park Crest Assembly of God on August 6, 2003 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a Leonard and Geri Wilkins memorial scholarship fund has been established at Evangel University, 1111 N. Glenstone, Springfield, MO 65802.

Elinor Brown Arnold
Elinor Brown Arnold passed away August 4, 2003 at 1:30 a.m. in Greene Haven Skilled Care Facility. She was born in Artesia, CA on December 31, 1913. Elinor was a bookkeeper and moved to Springfield, MO from Willits, CA, upon retirement. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora Brown; one brother, John H. Brown; and one sister, Ruth Elmore. Survivors include a son and his wife, Ralph and Harriet Arnold; a son, Lloyd E. Arnold; two grandchildren, Lance Arnold and Sara Arnold; and two nieces, one nephew, and their children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, in Greenlawn North. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Stella Lemeda Reeves
Funeral service for Stella Lemeda Reeves, of Hannibal, will be at 1 p.m., Dec. 4 at James & Gahr Mortuary.
Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeves died Dec. 1, 2004 at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include nine children, Benny Reeves and wife, Betty, Burlington, Iowa; Dorothy Nelson, Pacific; Joe Reeves and wife, Gloria, Hannibal; Elijah Reeves and wife, Gladys, Burlington, Iowa; Franklin Reeves and wife, Jeanie, Hannibal; Clinton Reeves and wife, Linda, Palaymra; Donald Reeves and wife, Kathy, Hannibal; Charlie Reeves and wife, Marie, Lemay; David Reeves and wife, Jan, Rolla.
Mrs. Reeves will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 4 at James & Gahr Mortuary.

Edna Short
Funeral service for Edna Short, of Jackson, Tenn., will be at 10 a.m., Dec. 4 at Boss Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Boss Cemetery.
Ms. Short died Nov. 29, 2004 at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Williams, Jackson, Tenn. and Diana Arthur and husband, Roy, Oakville; four grandchildren, Dr. Debbie Williams, Sandra Brown, Dr. Pat Lydy, Laurie Arthur; 23 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Short will lie in state from 6 to 8 p.m., Dec. 3 at Spencer Funeral Home, Salem.

Donald Clark O'Conner
Funeral service for Donald Clark O'Conner Sr., was Nov. 28 at Kroeher Funeral Home, Logansport, Ind. with Rev. Lisa Mays officiating.
Interment was in Sellers Cemetery, Dillard.
Mr. O'Conner was born June 9, 1916 at Earl Park, Ind., to Edward Young and Cora Biggs O'Conner. He married Glenna Mae Sellers July 11, 1942. They were the parents of two sons and one daughter. He died Nov. 25, 2004. at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 16 days.
Survivors include two sons, Donald C. O'Conner Jr. and wife Anne, Greensville, Ontario, Canada; Michael D. O'Conner and wife, Pat, Logansport, Ind.; one daughter, Barbara O'Conner, Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson, Rigel Humphrey, Beltbuckle, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, four nieces, two nephews, and close friend and companion Hazel Cree, Galveston, Ind.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, two brothers, Edward and John O'Conner, and two sisters, Florence Walkup and Edith O'Conner.

Peter Douglas McKean
Funeral service for Peter Douglas McKean was Nov. 22 at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite with Rev. Curtis Mixon officiating.
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Slidell.
Mr. McKean died Nov. 15, 2004.
Survivors include his wife Ralphadean M. McKean, Kentwood; two sons, Douglas L. and Ralph McKean, both of Franklinton; four brothers, Jim, Billy, and Paul McKean, all of Greensburg and John McKean of Picayune, Miss.; one sister, Theresa Doughty of Greensburg; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Ardean Baker, Salem; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Isabel McKean; one brother, Lee McKean; and one sister Elizabeth Soeller.
