Edward "Bud" Carty
Funeral service for Edward "Bud" Carty was August 21, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Bro. James Walker officiating.
Interment was in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marcus Raw, Billy Williams, Johnny Shaw, Wesley Shaw, Leon Shaw and Scott Payne.
Mr. Carty was born May 25, 1921 in rural Dent County to J.E. and Ellen (Musgraves) Carty. He married Alma Carty October 17, 1975. Mr. Carty died August 18, 2007 in Salem at the age of 86 years, two months and 24 days.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharrin Kay Dietz, Las Vegas, Nev.; granddaughter, Sherry Kellogg and husband, Chuck, Las Vegas, Nev.; great-granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Kellogg, Las Vegas, Nev.; stepchildren, Gene Shaw and wife, Sue, Salem; Larry Shaw, Salem; Bobby Shaw, Salem; Leon Shaw, Salem; Johnny Shaw and wife, Brenda, Salem; Kenny Shaw and wife, Cindy, Salem; Jack Shaw, Viburnum; Beulah Bond, Salem; Sue Garmany, St. Charles; Kathy Prince and husband, Jimmy, St. Charles; and a host of step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife.

Donald Cheney
Funeral service for Donald Cheney was August 22, 2007 at Dent County Memorial Chapel, Salem, with Russ Davidson officiating.
Music was provided by favorite recorded selections.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glen Stringer, Albert Cheney III, Eric Pickett, Albert Cheney Jr., Lonnie Stidham and Donald Cheney.
Mr. Cheney was born May 14, 1956 in Denver, Colo., to Albert Nathan and Ellen Jeanette (Wheeler) Cheney. Mr. Cheney died August 17, 2007 at the age of 51 years, three months and three days.
Survivors include his mother, Ellen Cheney; wife, Mary Cheney, Salem; children, Donald Cheney and Sylvia Stark, Sullivan; Jannette Pickett and husband, Eric, Salem; Jodie Pryor, Pekin, Ill.; Beverly Woods and husband, Ricky, Salem; Robert Schofield, Salem; Patrick Daugherty and wife, Veronica, Peoria, Ill.; Adrianna Daugherty, Salem; and Elizabeth Cheney, Salem; sisters, Paula Stidham and husband, Lonnie, Salem; Patricia Cheney and Glen Stringer, Sullivan; Penny Cheney, Peoria, Ill.; Tammy Cheney, Creve Coyer, Ill.; and Connie Griffith, Peoria, Ill.; brothers, Charles "Chuck" Cheney; Ronnie Cheney and wife, Teresa, Texas state; Boyd Cheney, Sullivan; and Albert Cheney Jr., Peoria, Ill.; and 26 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father; one granddaughter, Sylvia Griffith; one infant grandchild; one sister, Deborah Cheney; one brother, Paul Cheney; and infant twin brother and sister.

Robert D. "Bob" Curtis
Funeral service for Robert D. "Bob" Curtis was August 21, 2007 at Dent County Memorial Chapel, Salem, with Robert W. Curtis officiating.
Music was provided by recorded selections.
Interment was in the Round Pond Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Mesey Jr., Michael Hendrickson, Daniel Curtis, Randy McNeill, John Shaver and Delbert Scott Blackford.
Mr. Curtis was born July 24, 1935 in Portland, Maine, to Russell Hubert and Thelma Irene (Smith) Curtis. He married Karen S. Putman April 6, 1974. They were the parents of nine children. Mr. Curtis died August 18, 2007 in Indianapolis, Ind., at the age of 72 years and 25 days.
Survivors include nine children, Sheryl Lynn Hendrickson, Warsaw, Ind.; Judith Gail Holt, Electra, Texas; Robert W. Curtis and wife, Linda, Sweetser, Ind.; Hiawatha Kay Myers, Salem; David E. Curtis, Portland, Ind.; Lora S. Oswalt, Toledo, Ohio; Archie "Sam" Flynn, Salem; Stacy Ann Cavinder and friend, Paul Mesey, Salem; and Sabrina Lynn Curtis, Portland, Ind.; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephew, Robert Johns and wife, Joyce, Moberly; great- niece and nephew, Sarah and Kyle Johns.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; one brother, Russell E. Curtis; sister, Shirley Mae Curtis; two grandsons, Travis Meyers and infant, Tommy Holt IV.

Linore (Ball) Massey
Funeral service for Linore (Ball) Massey of Springfield was August 22, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with her grandson, Rev. David Massey-Brown officiating.
Music was provided by her great-grandson, Aaron Singer as soloist accompanied by Ms. Bonnie Kohut.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Brooks, William Brooks, Clay Chezem, Ari Massey-Brown, Petty Officer Elisha Singer and Matthew Singer.
Mrs. Massey was born March 7, 1913 in Howes Mills to Morgan Anvil and Belle (Hughes) Ball. She married Dr. A. Mont Massey June 1, 1930. Mrs. Massey died August 17, 2007 in Springfield at the age of 94 years, five months and ten days.
Survivors include two daughters, Rev. Sonya Sue Brown and husband, Rev. Donald Brown, Springfield; and Billie Dale Groniger and husband, Jerome, Mattoon, Ill.; sister, Bobbie Pines, Peoria, Ariz.; grandchildren, Brenda Gayle Brown, Springfield; Karen Sue Steinke and husband, Dr. David, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; Rev. David Mont Massey-Brown and wife, Lisa, Ozark; Cindy Lu Brooks and husband, Johnny, Humble, Texas; Curt William Chezem, Pearland, Texas; Clay Morgan Chezem, Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Matthew Singer, Portage, Wis.; Second Class Petty Officer Elisha Singer and wife, Melanie, Northwood, England; Private Second Class Aaron Singer, Baghdad, Iraq; Jenny Massey-Brown, Springfield; Ariel Massey-Brown, Springfield; William Brooks, Humble, Texas; Sean Martin, Ozark; Aaron Steinke, Versailles; and Kaylyn Steiner, Springfield; two great-great-grandchildren, Matthew B. Singer, Northwood, England; and Justin Steinke, Versailles; nephews, Stan Kintigh, Glen Carbon, Ill.; Steven Pines, Peoria, Ariz.; Ronnie Ball, Salem; and Douglas Ball, St. Louis.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; grandchild, Christopher Robin Brown; siblings, Dwight Ball and wife, Bonnie; Helen Jones and husband, Art; Elna Biery and husband, Sam; and Mary Lou Hunt and husband, Ferrell; one infant brother, James L. Ball; and one infant sister, Bettie Lee Ball.

Kenneth Harrison Penfield
Funeral service for Kenneth Harrison Penfield was August 22, 2007 at Null and Son Funeral Home, Rolla, with David Neiss and Richard Williams officiating.
Interment was in the Rolla Cemetery.
Mr. Penfield was born October 2, 1938 in Rolla to James and Beulah (Hargis) Penfield. Mr. Penfield died August 18, 2007 in Rolla at the age of 68 years.
Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Penfield, Rolla; son, Kenny Penfield and wife, Beth, Kahoka; daughter, Vickie Black and husband, Montie, Salem; sisters, Janell Moritz and husband, Lyle, Rolla; and Judy Lewis and husband, Mike, Manito, Ill.; grandchildren, Leah Jinks and husband, Andrew, Webb City; Adrianne and Aaron Penfield, Kahoka; Ryan Gately, Waynesville; Joshua Gately, St. James; Haylee Black, Salem; four great-grandsons; aunt, Pauline Rubino, San Clemente, Calif.; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Vivian Penfield; brothers, Jimmy and Bill; and granddaughter, Bethany Penfield.
Mr. Penfield was a charter member of Ridgeview Christian Church.

Louise McDaniel
Funeral service for Louise McDaniel of St. James will be at 11 a.m. November 8, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem.
Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel died November 5, 2007 at the age of 89 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Smith and husband, Earl, St. James; brother, Dwayne Nash and wife, Edith, Salem; sister, JoAnn Reed and husband, Sonny, Salem; grandchildren, Earl L. Smith Jr., Tommy McDaniel, Becky Yeargin and Julie Varnes; eight great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
Mrs. McDaniel will lie in state 6 to 8 p.m. November 7, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel.

Judy Marie Setzer
Funeral service for Judy Marie Setzer will be at 10 a.m. November 9, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem.
Interment will be in the Sellers Cemetery, Dillard.
Mrs. Setzer died November 6, 2007 at the age of 55 years.
Survivors include brothers, Bill Setzer and wife, Ina Mae, Davisville; Lloyd Setzer and wife, Lisa, St. James; Delbert Setzer, St. Louis; John Setzer and wife, Martha, St. Louis; Howard Setzer and wife, Mogda, Mooresville, Ind.; and Radis Setzer and wife, Beverly, Dillard; special family, Tom and Mary Boxx and daughter, Hope Barton; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends.
Mrs. Setzer will lie in state 6 to 8 p.m. November 8, 2007 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel.
