Joyce Ann Baker
Joyce Ann Baker (nee Callahan), was born Monday, May 27, 1957, in Steelville, Mo., a daughter of Rev. Marvin Leroy Callahan and Ruth Fayon Callahan (nee Barton).
She entered eternal rest Thursday, October 3, 2002, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 45 years, 4 months and 6 days.
On September 1, 1974, at Center Ridge Pentecostal Church, Davisville, Mo., Joyce was united in marriage to Dennis James Baker. One daughter and two sons were born to this union. They recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband Dennis James Baker; one daughter, Christina Gayle Baker; two sons, Timothy Allen Baker and Adam Seth Baker of the home in Cuba, Mo.; her parents, Rev. Marvin and Ruth Callahan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Kathy Baker, all of Cuba, Mo.
Also remaining are her brother, Gary Callahan of St. Louis, Mo.; six sisters, Deloris and husband Douglas Warren of St. Louis, Mo., Barbara and husband Darrell Callahan of Steelville, Mo., Shirley and husband Rev. Harrison Brown of Davisville, Mo., Janet Callahan of Cuba, Mo., Pam and husband Bill Huggins of Cuba, Mo. and Cindy and husband Darrell Phipps of Washington, Mo.
Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Troy Pyatt of Cuba, Mo., Sandy and Paul Greathouse and David and Terry Baker of Steelville, Mo.; step-sister-in-law, Lisa Cain of St. James, Mo.; step-brother-in-law, Mark Kimmons and wife Noreen of Germany; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Joyce Ann Baker lay in state after 4 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2002, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Evelyn Stillwagon officiating. Joy Collins, Bob and Carol Coleman provided musical selections. Committal prayers and interment were in Davisville Cemetery, Davisville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Steven Bridgeman, Brad Brown, Brian DeClue, Cleve Holland, Darrell Phipps and Tyler Pyatt.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Eleanor Ruby Conaway
Eleanor Ruby Conaway (nee Phillips) was born on November 11, 1933 in St. Louis, Mo. to the union of Harvey Phillips and Neva (Mumper) Phillips and passed away on September 29, 2002 in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 18 days.
On September 14, 1954 Eleanor was united in marriage to Raney C. Conaway in St. Louis, Mo. Raney preceded Eleanor in death on December 5, 1992.
On August 20, 1994 Eleanor was united in marriage to Howard Conaway in Cuba, Mo. They have enjoyed eight years together.
Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Norman Phillips, one sister Lois, and one step-daughter Cindy Pines.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her devoted husband Howard Conaway; three sons Donald Conaway and wife Sandy, Daniel Conaway and wife Su and Gene Conaway and wife Donelle; three step-daughters Melissia Peters and husband Vernon, Becky Susnic and husband John and Gina Eaton and husband Wayne; one brother Everett Phillips and wife Naomi; one sister Lorene Miles and husband Charlie; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Eleanor Ruby Conaway (nee Phillips) was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cindy Martin officiating. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Raymond Leon Crider
Raymond Leon Crider of Leasburg, Mo. was born on March 25, 1960 at St. Louis, Mo. to the union of Raymond Lee Crider and Martha Louise (Dean) Crider and passed away suddenly on October 3, 2002 at Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 42 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Leon was preceded in death by his father Raymond Lee Crider.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife Pamela Crider; one son Ray J. Crider; two daughters Crystal Crider and Yvonne Crider; three brothers Ronnie Crider and wife Debra, Joseph Crider and wife Karena and Jeff White and wife Janet; six sisters Peggy Garren, Joy Seybold, Loretta Crider, Crystal Crider, May Chapman and Gail Chapman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leon was a loving husband, father, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Raymond Leon Crider was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Ledbetter officiating. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Mildred "Polly" Henry
Mildred Mable Henry, of Cuba, Mo. was born at Potosi, Mo. on January 13, 1910. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Richards) Meyers. Mildred departed this life at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo. on October 1, 2002 having reached the age of 92 years, 8 months and 19 days.
Mildred was united in marriage to Harold Delmar "Jack" Henry on July 30, 1927 and to this union two children were born.
She is survived by one daughter, Jerry Ann Collins and husband Bob of Cuba, Mo., six grandchildren, Roger Collins and wife Kathy of Clarkston, Washington, Polly Collins of Reno, Nevada, Linda Hodge and husband Steve of Steelville, Mo., Jay Henry of Bourbon, Mo., Robin Vance and husband Chuck of Potosi, Mo. and Lloyd Henry of St. Louis, Mo.
Eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Delores Henry of Potosi, Mo., sister-in-law, Helen Henry of Potosi, Mo., cousins, Gladys Koch of Cadet, Mo. and Bob Branaugh of Potosi, Mo. and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Dale Henry and two half sisters, Florence Deppe and Helen Stasiak, the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Opal and Clark Hargus, Mabel and Jim Jorden, Mildred and Bryan Cole, Lester "Pete" Henry, Lloyd and Chloe Henry, Delbert and Lillian Henry, Thelma and Walker Patterson, Lucille and Walter Wideman and June and Bob Arnold.
Polly was a long time member of the Potosi United Methodist Church. She served for many years as a cook at the Potosi High School, and was also an Avon Representative for several years. She enjoyed gardening roses and irises. Polly spent time quilting and embroidering gifts for family and friends. She will be lovingly missed by family and many friends.
Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2002 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Burial was in the New Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
Serving as pallbearers were Caleb Griffin, Eli Vance, R. J. Collins, Richard Schuerbaum, Steve Hodge and Chuck Vance.

Florence Ice
Florence Ice (nee Wager) of Cuba, Mo. was born on June 8, 1900 in Louisiana, to the union of Isom Wager and Lena Rousseau Wager and passed away on October 3, 2002 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 102 years, 3 months and 25 days.
On August 21, 1943 she was united in marriage to Edwin L. Ice in St. Louis, Mo. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage until he preceded her in death on May 3, 1986.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joseph Wager.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her daughter Wilma Highfill and husband David; one son, Robert Ice; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Florence Ice (nee Wager) was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Haskell Bridgeman officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

James Lee McMillen
James Lee McMillen was born Saturday, March 15, 1919, at Bonne Terre, Mo., and a son of the late John Thompson McMillen and Sarah Elizabeth (Key) McMillen.
He entered eternal life Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kirkwood, Mo., at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 17 days.
At St. Louis, Mo., on July 20, 1947, Lee was united in marriage to Norma Jean Ball. One daughter and two sons were born to this union. They have enjoyed over 55 years together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lindsey McMillen; three brothers, William McMillen and wife Jacques, Eugene McMillen and Dale McMillen; one sister Minnie and husband Glen Gray, brothers-in-law Rainey Nichols and Thurston Clonts and sister-in-law Barbara McMillen.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Norma Jean McMillen; one daughter, Evelyn Zarbo, two sons, Donald McMillen and wife Terry and Ronald McMillen, all of St. Louis, Mo.; two granddaughters, Karri and husband Sean Gilliam and Natalie Zarbo; two great-grandchildren, Abby Gilliam and Patrick Gilliam.
Also remaining are two brothers, Floyd McMillen and Maloy McMillen; two sisters, Nadine Nichols and Edna Clonts and sister-in-law Virginia McMillen all of St. James, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He served in the United States Army in World War II, from June 13, 1941, receiving his honorable discharge August 2, 1945. For engagement in New Guinea, Leyte, Luzon Campaigns he was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. Also, he was entitled to wear Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon; American Defense Service Ribbon; Philippine Ribbon and One Bronze Star and Five Overseas Bars.
He was a member of U.S. Airborne Static Line, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Tabor Memorial Post 6479 and member of Lebanon Lodge #77 over 50 years.
James Lee McMillen lay in state after 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Masonic memorial service was held in the Britton Chapel at 1 p.m., October 5, 2002 with Lebanon Lodge #77 officiating.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rick Hoelzer officiating. Earl Halbert read a "Soldier's Prayer." Pam Widner provided musical selections.
Committal prayers and interment were in Keysville Cemetery, Keysville, Mo. Full military honors were provided graveside by Missouri Military Funeral Honors program.
Serving as pallbearers were Don McMillen, Ron McMillen, Evelyn Zarbo, Chuck Wildener, Tony Skokio and Dan Clonts.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Chris W. Rakey
Chris William Rakey, 88, of St. James, died Sunday, September 29, 2002. Mr. Rakey was born in St. Louis in 1914.
He is survived by two daughters, Carole O'Lexey and Judy Cubel, both of Arizona. Brother Fred Rakey & friend Ed Unger have taken care of final arrangements.
Before moving home to Missouri, the Rakey family lived in Oregon. It is there that it was Mr. Rakey was hired by Northwest United Grocers. After working many years at Rexall Drug Company, Mr. Rakey, developed a plan to get the stores to start stocking Heath & Beauty Aides [HABA]. Before that time only Drug Stores carried those products.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Kordes Funeral Home of Rolla.

Ralph E. Scott
Ralph E. Scott was born April 19, 1950 in Steelville, Mo. to Raymond Charles Scott and Bernice Simon Scott. He passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 52 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Ralph spent most of his life in the Steelville area and worked as a laborer in a factory. He was united in marriage to Donna Kay Bell on April 4, 1984 in St. Louis County and five children were born to this union. Ralph enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family. He was the best upside down, left handed, backwards bass player.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Laura Sturm.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his dear wife Donna of the home; his children, Raymond C., Ralph, Robert, and Candise Scott of Steelville, Shelley Scott of St. Louis, Becky Scott of Cuba, Mo. and Linda Payne of Steelville, Mo.; one brother Raymond Scott of Emminence, Mo.; eight sisters, Evelyn Stodola of Minnesota, Doris Wilkinson of House Springs, Mo., Mary Bunn of St. Louis, Mo., Norma Sitzes of Florissant, Mo., June McConnell of Emminence, Mo., Clara Burke of DeSoto, Mo., Hazel Parsons and husband Hal of Hillsboro, Mo., and Glenda Caron and husband Ron of Steelville, Mo.
Ten grandchildren, Megan and Michael Payne, Xavyer and Ahnastaysa Bouse, Morgan and Maya McClendon, Jessica and Michael Estes, Paula and Monica Hendrix; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Ralph E. Scott.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 from 9-11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Chapel, Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating.
Burial was in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Alfrieda Tasch
Alfrieda Tasch, formerly of St. Louis, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2002, at Courtois Creek Villa, Cuba, Mo.
Loving mother of Bernard E. (Betty), James J. (Nancy) Sievers, Catherine O'Connell, Alice (Ronald) Fasnacht, and the late Rosemary (Elmer) Jansen and James O'Connell, our dear grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Mrs. Tasch was a 15 year resident of Indian Hills, Cuba.
An entombment will be at Forever Bellerive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers masses are preferred. Arrangements provided by the Cremation Society of St. Louis.

Georgia Helen Britton
Georgia Helen Britton (nee Beaman) of Cuba, Mo. was born on October 20, 1926 at Moberly, Mo. to the union of George Walker Beaman and Birdie Lea (Nichols) Beaman and passed away suddenly on December 4, 2002 at the Phelps County Regional Medial Center, Rolla, Mo. at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 14 days.
On November 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to Earnest Britton at Steelville, Mo. Seven sons and seven daughters were born to this union. They were happily married until Earnest preceded her in death on February 14, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sherry Britton and one half-brother Robert Beaman.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her seven sons, Doug Britton and wife Vicki, Ray Britton, Dallas Britton and wife Sharon, Denver Britton and wife Barb, Terry Britton, Larry Britton and Garnet Britton and wife Crystal; six daughters Karen King and husband Troy, Peggy Hardin and husband Jack, Carol Crider and husband Leroy, Nancy Baez, Judy McGuire and husband Johnny and Linda Britton; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Georgia Helen Britton nee Beaman was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Father James Finder officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
