Margaret Gauthier (nee Cook) was born on September 19, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the union of William and Ada Cook. She departed this life on December 17, 2005, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 28 days.
Margaret was united in marriage to Joseph John Gauthier and together, they had two daughters.
She was member of the Red Hat Society, was a homemaker who in her spare time crocheted and donated hats to children cancer patients. She was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was proceeded in death by eight brothers, Muril, Harry, Albert, Jewell, Frederick, Lee, Bill and Ray Cook, as well as three sisters, Geneva, Lillian and Hazel.
She is survived by her daughters, Aline Zeimys and husband Tom and Mary Gauthier; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.
Funeral services were held December 20 with interment in the Fairview Cemetery of Brighton, Michigan.
Melvin Douglas (Doug) Mannon
Melvin Douglas (Doug) Mannon of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005 at the age of 35 years.
Melvin was born on May 21, 1970 in Centerville, Illinois, to Clarence and Linda, nee Huggins, Mannon.
After graduating high school, he fulfilled various occupations, most recently in the meat department at the Sullivan Wal-Mart.
Melvin enjoyed playing poker as well as Magic The Gathering, joining his family and friends online to play games, keeping in touch on the phone and spending time with family and friends.
Melvin is survived by his mother Linda Mannon of Bourbon; brother, James Mannon; sister-in-law Christine; and beloved nephew Neal Mannon, all of Valmeyer, Illinois. Uncles, James (Linda) Huggins, William (Delores) Huggins and Wendell Huggins; long-time best friend Todd Boyer; beloved cousin Christopher Schlemmer of Waterloo, Illinois; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services for Melvin Mannon were held on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at the Bourbon Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Amato officiating. Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery.
Pauline “Polly” Kunkel Poor
Pauline “Polly” Kunkel Poor, age 81, of Searcy, Arkansas, former of Evening Shade, Arkansas and Cuba, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at a Searcy nursing home.
She was born September 16, 1924 at Ash Flat, Arkansas to Malford and Vernon (Rush) Hall.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star in both Missouri and Arkansas and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Elson (Quail) Kunkel, two brothers Raymond Hall and Virgil Hall and two sisters Vivian Eaton and Mildred Faye Belcher.
Survivors include her husband Rowe Poor of St. James, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, December 29, 2005 from 7-8 p.m. Graveside service were Friday, December 30, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery located at Sidney with Dean Fugett officiating.

Curt John Powell
Curt John Powell, known as "Chief', was born Monday, October 18, 1954, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Mable J. Powell, nee Klein, and the late John C. Powell.
He entered eternal life Monday, December 19, 2005, at his home on Valley Side Road, Cherryville, Missouri, at the age of 51 years, 2 months and 1 day.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jacob Powell and mother-in-law, Henrietta Parisi.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife, Elizabeth Powell, nee Parisi, of the home; his mother, Mable Powell, nee Klein, of Steelville, Missouri; one son, Zachary Powell, two daughters, Tammy Chumley and Rebecca Powell, all of St. Louis, Missouri.
Two stepsons, Donald Brazel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Theodore Brazel of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Giovanna Brazel of Steelville, Missouri, and father-in-law, Alfred Parisi of St. Louis, Missouri. Also remaining is one brother, Corey Powell of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, other relatives and many friends.
Curt John Powell lay in state after 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Roger Silvey officiating.
Musical selection was provided by Donna Silvey.
Committal prayer and interment will be on the family farm in Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Bertha Jane Adams
Bertha Jane Adams (nee Mounce), age 66, of Steelville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in Steelville, Missouri.
She was born Wednesday, July 26, 1939 in St. Louis County, the daughter of Dorman Jesse and Sylvia Mae (Murdock) Mounce. She was united in marriage to George Lee Adams Sr. on October 31, 1967 in Steelville, Missouri, and to this union, four children were born.
She is survived by her husband, George; three daughters, Lisa Jane Proffer and husband Steve of Cuba, Missouri, Barbara Brickey and husband Eddie of Steelville, Missouri, and Mary Ann Adams and fiancé Wade Westrup of Cherryville, Missouri; one son, George Lee Adams Jr. and fiancée Sandra Hitchcock of Steelville, Missouri.
Six grandchildren, Dustin Adams, Stevie Adams, Heather Proffer, Courtney Harris, Brittany Westrup and Skyler Westrup; three brothers Dorman James Mounce and wife Joyce, Thomas Lester Mounce and wife Marilyn, and David Michael Mounce, all of Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Debbie Whitaker and husband Rick of Salem, Missouri; nieces, nephews, and other family relatives and friends.
Bertha had worked for Brown Shoe Company and was a member of TOPS. She had attended the United Pentecostal Church in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were held Saturday, February 4, 2006 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri, with the Rev. James Self and Rev. Berlie Turnbough officiating. Music was by Jaisa Self and a cd from Brad Paisley.
Serving as casketbearers were Wade Westrup, Steve Proffer, Eddie Brickey, Dustin Adams, Justin McPeters and Jerry Breakfield with burial in the Crossroads Cemetery in Leasburg, Missouri.

Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Blunt
Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Blunt was born in Butts, Missouri, on November 8, 1912 to the union of Thomas L. Blunt and Nellie Collins Blunt and passed away on April 22, 2006, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 4 days.
He was married to Anna M. Walker on December 24, 1933 and to this union, one son was born. He and Anna made their home together in St. Louis, Missouri, until a car accident took her life in September of 1980 after many years of marriage. Woody spent his working life in St. Louis, Missouri, working as a machinist.
Woody later married Mary Reimler on November 12, 1981 and they made their home together in St. Louis, Missouri.
Woody accepted the Lord many years ago and was a member of the Marvin Park United Methodist Church of St. Louis, Missouri.
He was very active in the Masonic order. He served as Worshipful Master of Lebanon Lodge #77 in 1975; he was High Priest of Missouri Chapter #1 Royal Arch Masons, District Deputy Grand High Priest of Region 5 for two years, Grand Lecturer of Royal Arch Masons for three years, and Deputy Lecturer of Region 5 for five years. He was District Grand Deputy, Grand Sentinel, Grand Warder, Grand Conductor, Deputy Lecturer, a member of the Silver Trowel, Commander of Ascalon Commandery, member of Past Commanders' Association.
He was a member of Red Cross of Constantine and Puissant Sovereign of Red Cross of Constantine. He belonged to Knights of York Cross of Honor, St. John's High Twelve, Wardens and Masters Club of Greater St. Louis, Past President of York Rite Council Club, Moolah Temple Shrine, South County Shrine Club and South County Golf Unit.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents; wife Anna; two brothers Bill and Clyde Blunt; and two sisters Mabel Summers and Eileen (Charlie) Ott.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of St. Louis, Missouri and one son, Wayne and wife Rosemary of Steelville, Missouri; step son, Eric Reimler and friend Leslie Farrow of California; nephew Bob Mullen and step daughter, Lois Mullen of California; step-daughter Elaine Reimler of St. Louis, Missouri; step-grandson Shawn Mullen of California and step-great-granddaughter, Lily Mullen of California; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 27, 2006 from 4-9 p.m. with Knight Templer service at 7:30 p.m. at Kutis Affton Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri and Friday, April 28, 2006 from 4-9 p.m. with Masonic service at 7:30 a.m. p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the Hutson Funeral Chapel in Steelville, Missouri, with Brother Spencer Hutson officiating.
Those serving as Honorary pallbearers were: Leroy Pinnell, Ralph Pinnell, Windell Bryan and Charles Bryan. Active pallbearers were: Jake Walker, Tommy Walker, Jewel Bryan and James “Hack” Pinnell.
Burial was in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Dessie May Bowenschulte
Dessie May Bowenschulte (nee Lewis) of Cuba, Missouri, was born March 18, 1920 at Sun Flower, Mississippi to the union of Gilbert Lewis and Levie (nee Kellum) Lewis and left from this life on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 4 days.
Dessie was united in marriage to Hubert A. Whitman. He passed away July 5, 1982. Dessie was married to Frank Bowenschulte and he too precedes her in death.
Dessie was the loving mother of Art, Danny, Ellis, Barb, Dora Carol, Lonnie and Karen.
Dessie worked as a cook for many years, retiring from Voss “Skelly’s” in 1982.
Dessie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those who proceed her in death are her parents, Gilbert and Levie Lewis; two sons, Art and Lonnie Whitman; one daughter, Dora Carol; three sisters, Mamie, Lottie and Inais; and three brothers, Dan, Gill and Belmer.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Danny Whitman of Steelville, Missouri, Ellis and wife Eleanor Whitman of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Roach of Bourbon, Missouri and Karen A. and husband Pierre Boumann of Miami, Florida; 28 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 36 great great grandchildren; one brother, Coy H. and wife Mildred of Vaiden, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Thursday, April 27, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Rauls officiating. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Interment in Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements are under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Lois D. Barton
Lois D. Barton passed away March 27, 2006 at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Leonard “Bud” Burton of the home; children, Margaret (Jerry) Woodward, Spokane, Washington, H. Wendell (Joan) Turnbough, Seattle, Washington, Linda Turnbough, Spokane, Washington, Glenda (Dean) Haddican, Parker, Colorado, Lorna Wetzler, Spokane, Washington, Lenora Powers, Spokane, Washington.
Eighteen grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman L. Turnbough and a son, Gary W. Turnbough.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Hayford Community Church. Viewing was Friday, March 31, 2006 from 2-8 p.m. at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, Spokane, Washington.
Interment was in the Marshall Cemetery.
Bertha Gay Cooper
Bertha Gay Cooper, nee Stevens, of Cuba, Missouri, was born in Cuba, Missouri, to Claude Hilbert Stevens and Lula Martha Burleson Stevens on Tuesday, February 22, 1921. She passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Bertha married Guy Cooper at Carsonville Baptist Church, St. Louis. Missouri, on June 23, 1945 and to this union two daughters were born.
While living in St. Louis, she taught three year old preschoolers in Sunday School for many years and was active in the WMU (Women's Missionary Union). She enjoyed gardening and most of all providing for her family as a loving wife and mother.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents; sister, Gladys Schwidde and brother-in-law Charles Schwidde,
She is survived by her husband, Guy Cooper of Cuba, Missouri; daughters, Dorothy (Bob) Nichols of Jefferson City, Missouri and Judy Stewart) Quittschau of O’Fallon, Missouri; brother, John (Helen) Stevens of Cuba. Missouri.
