Marian E. Grindler of Kirkwood, formerly of Bridgeton died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005. She was 78.
Mrs. Grindler was born in St. Louis. She attended St. Joseph's Academy and Rubicon Business College. In 1966 she founded the Bridgeton Bookworm, a community newspaper targeted to the homes and businesses of Bridgeton. She expanded the newspaper in 1981 to include St. Ann, doubling the circulation.
Mrs. Grindler was actively involved in local and state politics, serving as campaign coordinators for several Bridgeton candidates including state Rep. Judith O'Connor (D). She also served as the local liaison for U. S. Congressman Robert A. Young (D), heading his St. Louis staff. Mrs. Grindler served the city of Bridgeton in a variety of posts, including park board committee.
A founding member of the Carrollton Players, Mrs. Grindler wrote, directed and acted in several of their productions in the 1960s.
An avid bridge player, Mrs. Grindler achieved master status and introduced the game to many people by teaching bridge lessons through the Bridgeton Community Center. She served as president of the Geyer Place Condominiums after moving to Kirkwood in 2001.
Mrs. Grindler was the mother of Gerry Grindler of St. Louis; Gayle O'Neill of Kirkwood; Jimmy Grindler of Dallas, Texas; Karen Grindler of Columbia; and Susie Heck of Memphis, Tenn.; grandmother of 18; great-grandmother of eight.
Mrs. Grindler was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, and son Gene.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Nov. 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in St. Ann. Interment, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center, 4895 E. Hwy. 163, Columbia, Mo., 65201.

Mary Katherine Guilfoy (nee Wilkinson) of Kirkwood died Thursday, June 23, 2005.
Mrs. Guilfoy was the wife of the late James J. Guilfoy; mother of Margaret G. Tyler, Katherine M. (David) Stevens and Christine M. (Phillip) Brick; grandmother of Samantha, Daniel, Paul and Andrew Brick; sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Helen, Debbie and Tina, for their loving care and concern.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, June 30, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kirkwood. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Guilfoy requested memorials be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, 1463 S. 18th St., St. Louis, Mo. 63104; the Animal Protective Association of Missouri, 1705 South Hanley Road, Brentwood, Mo. 63144; or Wildlife Rescue Center, 1128 New Ballwin Road, Ballwin, Mo. 63021. Mary Eileen Hall (nee Walsh) of Kirkwood died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.
Mrs. Hall was born Feb. 19, 1922. She was the wife of the late Wesley Hall; mother of Charleen Eickmeier (Jim Radin), Diana (Andy) Khalifa and Rick Wahlbrink; grandmother of Sharon Huffman, Trevor Wahlbrink and Jasmine Wahlbrink; great-grandmother of Jameson Hogue; cousin of Jacqueline (Oscar) Crider.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 26, at St. Clement Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63110. Arrangements by Bopp Chapel.

Dr. John David Halverson of Manlius, N.Y., formerly of Kirkwood and Des Peres died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005. He was 63.
Dr. Halverson was born in Owatonna, Minn. He did his residency at and was on the surgical faculty of Washington University Medical School from 1975 to 1991. Since 1991 he had been professor of surgery at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.
Dr. Halverson was former president of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery and was a member of many national and international professional associations.
He was the husband of Petie Halverson of Manlius, N.Y., for 26 years; father of Anne H. Halverson of Manlius, N.Y., Julie C. (T.J.) Lynn of Overland Park, Kan., Jim Halverson of Manlius, N.Y., and Dave Halverson of Oakland, Calif.; son of Julie R. Halverson of Columbus, Ga.; brother of Dr. Stephen Halverson of Columbus, Ga.; uncle of two nieces and grandfather of three granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 25, in DeWitt, N.Y. Memorials to Upstate Medical University Foundation, CAB Suite 301, 750 E. Adams Street, Syracuse, N.Y. 13210. Contributions will be used for lung cancer research.

Paula Ann Hamlin of Shrewsbury, formerly of Webster Groves died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005. She was 49.
Ms. Hamlin graduated from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, Va., in 1973, after only three years. She was accepted into Lyman-Briggs College at Michigan State University, and graduated with a degree in computer science. She worked for NCR and McDonnell Douglas for over 20 years, before setting off on her own as an entrepreneur in the antiques business.
Ms. Hamlin was a member of First United Methodist Church of Webster Groves, where she helped with the Wednesday night children's program. She was a volunteer tutor at Avery School, and helped with school fundraisers; was a Destination Imagination coach; volunteered her time with the Boy Scouts; and was a past volunteer at City Hall.
Ms. Hamlin was the daughter of Elizabeth and Thomas Hamlin; sister of Ree (Tom) Hamlin-Lewis, Tom (Carol) Hamlin, Charlie (Becky) Hamlin, Theresa (Clay) Grumke and Jeff (Leisa) Hamlin; granddaughter of Lourae and the late Rupert Hillyard and the late Charles and Pauline Hamlin; aunt to Zach (Mandy), Jen, Tyler, Betsy, Jacob, Shore, Stevie, Troy, Emily, Kate, Maggie and Eric; great-aunt of Morgan, Ryan and Ansley; godmother of Joey, Jack and Maggie; niece, cousin and friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 4 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Webster Groves, 600 N. Bompart. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Interment, St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Charlevoix, Mich., at a later date.

Eleanor M. Hanlon, formerly of Webster Groves died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at her home with her children present. She was 88.
Mrs. Hanlon was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Du Bois, Pa. Her family moved to Richmond, Va., and then to Webster Groves, where she graduated from Webster Groves High School.
Mrs. Hanlon lived in Webster Groves for more than 70 years. During that time she was active at Mary Queen of Peace Church in the Altar Guild, the parish theater and Medical Missions. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Hanlon is survived by her children, Stephen F. (Fran) Hanlon, Mary (Richard) Ellison, Michelle (Russ) Donnelly, Mark (Cindy) Hanlon, and Lisa Hanlon Schroeder; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 4, at Visitation Catholic Church in Kansas City. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chartwell Foundation, 400 S. Union, Suite 395, Montgomery, Ala. 36104, which supports programs for children with special needs.

Margaret Ellen "Marge" Harris of Laguna Niguel, Calif., formerly of Kirkwood died Tuesday, April 12, 2005. She was 87.
Mrs. Harris and her husband Fred C. Harris ran Harris Supermarket in Kirkwood, located for years at Manchester and Woodlawn. They closed the business in 1976.
Mrs. Harris was the wife of the late Fred C. Harris; mother of Nancy Kirchhoff, Barbara Stilson and Rick Harris; grandmother of six; great-grandmother of one.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11, 9 a.m., at Ste. Genevieve DuBois Catholic Church, 1575 N. Woodlawn Ave. in Warson Woods.

Virginia M. Harris (nee Schuler), a resident of Kirkwood died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, in her home. She was 87.
Mrs. Harris lived in Kirkwood for 51 years. She was born in St. Louis and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She also attended Fontbonne College.
She loved animals, especially horses and her dogs. She loved to read and listen to music. She also loved to watch movies; her favorite actor was John Wayne.
Mrs. Harris was the wife of the late Charles Holmes Harris Sr.; mother of Charles Jr. (Audrey), Diane Cantwell, Tony (Sigrid), Pat (Jim) Stott, Bob (Diane), Jim (Sally), Rick (Sally), Steve (Pam), Bill (Tina) and Ginny Harris; grandmother of Ellen (Bill Kopicko) Cantwell, Janet (Mike) Montgomery, Scott (Julie) Cantwell, Charles III (Christy) Harris, Brian, Mark and Laura Stott, Nikki, Jill, Abby, Rachel and Michael Harris, Rebecca and Jim Harris, Kelley, Cassidy, Korie, Troy and Gabriel Harris, Samantha and Nick Harris; great-grandmother of Cole and Ali Montgomery, Olivia Harris and Katie Cantwell; sister of Joan Thieman and the late Ruth Dattillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Virginia (nee O'Donnell) Schuler.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to Joan Bommarito and Kate Russell for their loving care of Mrs. Harris these last months.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Peter Church, 243 West Argonne in Kirkwood. Memorial donations in Mrs. Harris' name may be made to BJC Hospice of St. Louis, P.O. Box 504043, St. Louis, Mo. 63150-0001.

Marie L. Hartman (nee Fehringer) of Webster Groves died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005. She was 94.
Mrs. Hartman was born and raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood of St. Louis. She moved to Birmingham, Ala., where she completed high school, returning to St. Louis where she was married in 1932.
The Hartman family moved to Webster Groves in 1942, where she served as an early three-time president of the Webster Gardens Civic Club. She was also a member of the St. Louis Turner Association.
Mrs. Hartman became active in the education of her son, John, serving as a founding member and first president of Washington Park PTA and helping to organize summer camp days. She was a member of the Class of 1955 Webster Groves High School Mother's Club, and a past president of University of Missouri, Columbia Sigma Phi Epsilon. She gave much of her time serving others with the auxiliary at Bethesda-Dilworth Memorial Home.
Mrs. Hartman was the wife of the late Walter H. Hartman; mother of John Hartman of Webster Groves; sister of the late Vincent D. Fehringer; and cousin of Ellen Fehringer Born of Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19, at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Bellefontaine. Memorials may be made to Sigma Phi Epsilon Education Foundation, P.O. Box. 1901, Richmond, Va. 23215; or a charity of one's choice.

Virginia L. Hausmann (nee Moellmann) of Webster Groves died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005.
Mrs. Hausmann was the daughter of the late Grace and Rudolph Moellmann; wife of the late Lawrence R. Hausmann; mother of Karen (Michael) Godar and Maureen Vires; grandmother of David Godar and Christopher Marlow; sister-in-law, aunt and cousin.
Private family services were held. Arrangements by Gerber Chapel, Webster Groves.

Honey B. Hawley of Webster Groves died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005.
Ms. Hawley was the mother of Aubrey (Carl Zilch Jr.); daughter of the late Fern and Nels Berg; sister-in-law of Eloise Berg and Anne Bezdek; aunt, cousin and friend.
