Lorine Ruhl (nee Orr), 89, of Kirkwood died on Thursday, June 23, 2005. Mrs. Ruhl was the wife of the late Ben J. Ruhl; mother of Jean Heflin and the late James Prysock; grandmother of Curt, Debbie (Steve) and Pam; great-grandmother of Kara Ann, Jimmy and Chris.
Funeral services were held on June 27 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood with visitation at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Clarence T. "Chuck" Lange of Kirkwood died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, of complications from leukemia. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Lange was born in St. Louis, and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. During the Korean War, he served as a research plant pathologist at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md.
Mr. Lange held a bachelor of science and a master of science degree in botany, both from Colorado State University. He worked as a consultant for the Missouri Department of Education, and in 1963, began teaching science at Clayton High School. He was instrumental in beginning an advanced placement course in physiology at the school, and often took students on study trips to Colorado.
Mr. Lange conducted summer institute courses around the country, and also taught at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. In 1969, he was awarded the Missouri Science Educator Award from the Science Teachers of Missouri. He was named the Missouri National Education Association's Horace Mann Teacher of the Year in 1984, and retired from Clayton High School in 1986.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 27, at Christ Lutheran Church in Webster Groves.
Mr. Lange is survived by his wife, Carolyn Baehr Yoder Lange of Kirkwood; his daughter, Beth Butcher of Timnath, Colo.; his sister, Dorothy Tognarelli of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Hedwig S. Gross (nee Witte) of Drake, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003. She was 90 years old.
Mrs. Gross was the wife of the late LeRoy Gross; mother of Jenny Touhey of Webster Groves and Annabelle (Scott) Marshall of Webster Groves; grandmother of Dan Touhey, Tom Touhey, Aaron Marshall and Katherine (Patrick) Creekmore; great-grandmother of Caleb Creekmore; and sister of the late Herbert Witte.
Funeral services were held Oct. 2 in Owensville, Mo. Interment, Zoar Methodist Cemetery, Drake, Mo.

Marjorie McCullough (nee Parmely) of Kirkwood died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003.
Mrs. McCullough was the wife of the late Francis R. McCullough; mother of Judy (Larry) Folcik and the late James F. McCullough; grandmother of James "Nick" Folcik; sister of the late Oliver Parmely; aunt, cousin and friend to many.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Oct. 1, from Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood to Valhalla Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PEO Education Loan Fund, PEO Executive Offices, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA, 50312.

John Calvin Naylor Jr., formerly of Webster Groves died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Naylor was born in 1919. He was a graduate of Webster Groves High School, received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his M.B.A. from Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business Administration.
After serving as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Naylor embarked on a career in advertising. He worked for Gardner Advertising in St. Louis and New York from 1948 to 1966 and then continued his career with Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample in San Francisco, Calif., from 1966 until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Naylor was an active amateur radio operator for over 60 years; his call sign was K6BR.
Mr. Naylor is survived by his wife, Margaret F. Naylor of St. Louis; his sons, John B. Naylor of Fort Myers, Fla., and James P. Naylor of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and his granddaughter, Faye Naylor of Fort Myers, Fla. He was the brother of the late Doris Dee Spiegel. Burial was private.

Teresa Sabat (nee Asta) of Shrewsbury died Saturday, April 9, 2005.
Mrs. Sabat was the wife of the late Charbel Elias Sabat; mother of Victoria C. Sabat; daughter of John and the late Carolyn Asta; sister of Elisa Asta, Johnny Asta and Benny Asta; sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.
A funeral Mass was celebrated April 13, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Shrewbury. Interment, Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Masses are preferred for memorials.

Flossie Scaggs (nee McCrary) of Webster Groves died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005.
Mrs. Scaggs was the wife of the late Walter L. Scaggs; aunt of Troy (Sandy) McCrary; and grandmother of Bethanie and Joseph McCrary.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves. Entombment, Oak Grove Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mildred Schaller of Oakland died Tuesday, July 19, 2005. She was 99.
Mrs. Schaller was the wife of the late Ben G. Schaller; mother of Rev. Sandy Schaller; and aunt of Marvel Riegerix.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 5 to 8 p.m., at Gerber Chapel, 23 W. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 600 N. Bompart. Interment, Lake Charles Memorial Park.

Charles R. "Charlie" Schanbusch of Des Peres died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005.
Mr. Schanbusch was a 46 year employee of Von Hoffman Press and an avid golfer and fisherman. He was the husband and best friend of Laurel "Lolly;" father of Laurie (Mark) Sifrig, Carrie (Dave) Beckel and Neil Schanbusch; uncle of Sue (Dave) Kern; special friend of Julie (Dale), David (Jill) and Jennifer (Lee); grandfather of seven; a good and caring friend to all who knew him.
A memorial service was held Feb. 26, at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves. In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to Backstoppers, P.O. Box 66927, St. Louis, Mo. 63166

Virginia "Ginny" Schmidt, formerly of Webster Groves died Tuesday, May 16, 2005.
Mrs. Schmidt was born in Webster Groves to William A. and Lenore Dickison. She was a 1944 graduate of Webster Groves High School, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a master's degree in radio and television. She was a few hours short of her Ph.D. in languages.
Mrs. Schmidt met her husband, Pat, in Columbia, Mo., at a singles' faculty gathering while she was teaching at Stevens College. They married seven months later.
After the birth of their three children, they transferred from the Chicago area to Oklahoma City with Western Electric in 1960. Mrs. Schmidt then worked for Randall Graham as a legal secretary and later as editor/translator for the newsletter at World Neighbors. She and Pat enjoyed traveling the world; her favorite destinations included Hawaii and the Tuscany region in Italy.
Mrs. Schmidt was the wife of Pat Schmidt for 53 years; mother of Sue Ellen Reiman (Shane McClure); Pam (Tim) Sweeney; and Larry Schmidt (wife Kathleen Singleton); grandmother of Lara and Heather Schmidt, and Caitlin and Sean Sweeney.
Memorials may be made to the Plymouth Guild of the Mayflower Congregational Church, 3901 Northwest 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73116; or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, N.Y. 10128-6804

James C. Schmitt of Webster Groves died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005. He was 73.
Mr. Schmitt was the husband of Beverly Schmitt (nee Bryan); father of Judith (Samuel) Longstreth and James (Cristina) Schmitt Jr.; grandfather of Samuel Longstreth and Nicole Schmitt; and brother of Mary Jane Travers.
Funeral services were private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Gerber Chapel, Webster Groves.

David Erwin Schoeffel of South Orleans, Mass., formerly of Kirkwood died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.
Mr. Schoeffel lived in Kirkwood for 27 years. He was born July 13, 1929, in Massena, N.Y. He graduated from MIT, and earned a master's degree in chemical engineering and an MBA.
Mr. Schoeffel entered the Army in July 1955, working in the Army Chemical Center. He joined Monsanto Company in 1952, and retired in 1991 as corporate purchasing manager. He retired to Cape Cod in 1994.
Mr. Schoeffel was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. He was also a member of the Chemical Engineering Society, and member and past president of Algonquin Golf Club.
Mr. Schoeffel was the husband of Patricia T. Schoeffel; father of Thomas David (Lora Cameron) Schoeffel, Sara Schoeffel (Paul G.) Salamone, and Carol Dianne Schoeffel (Robert C. Klute); brother of Nancy S. (J.T.) Overpeck; grandfather of Cameron T. Schoeffel and Elizabeth A. Schoeffel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood, 100 E. Adams Ave., Kirkwood, Mo. 63122; or the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10006.

June Grace Scholl (nee Hasenjaeger) of Kirkwood died Jan. 9, 2005.
Mrs. Scholl loved to travel, played with many bridge clubs and was a member of the Wickerbobs Square Dance Club.
Mrs. Scholl was the wife of Darwin E. Scholl for 61 years; mother of Carol June (Richard) Scholl Lammers; grandmother of Janelle Christine Lammers; cousin and friend to many.
Funeral services were held Jan. 13, at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials to BJC Hospice, 9890 Clayton Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63124; or Manor Grove, 711 S. Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood, Mo. 63122.
