Fred M. Aussieker, husband of Marjorie D. Drewes Aussieker, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001. He was 78.
Mr. Aussieker, a carpenter by trade, was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters Bobbie Proctor, Peggy Price, and Laurie Ambo; a son, Fred Aussieker, Jr.; sisters Marie Dickason and Evelyn Aussieker; brothers Marion "Bud" Aussieker and Melvin Aussieker. He had five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Aussieker was preceded in death by a sister, the late Louise Klaus, and a brother, the late Elmer Aussieker.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Pfitzinger Funeral Home in Kirkwood. A funeral service was held on Friday, Dec. 21, at Concordia Lutheran Church. Internment was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Rachel A. Baker died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002. She was 89.
Mrs. Baker was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church. She was the wife of Fred W. Baker for 71 years; mother of Barbara E. Reynolds and Fred J. (Carol) Baker; grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Sydney Ellen Babb died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002.
Mrs. Babb was a founding member of the St. Louis Calligraphy Guild and a foster mother. She was the wife of Paul Babb; mother of Paul Jeffery Babb, Julia Elizabeth Babb, Holly Melissa Babb-Berthold; mother-in-law of Noriko Babb, Mollie O'Connor and Robert Berthold; daughter of Beryl Jackson and the late James Jackson; daughter-in-law of Rosalie and Ralph Nolde; sister, aunt and friend to many.
Services will be held Friday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at Forever Oak Hill Funeral Home at Pfitzinger, 366 S. Kirkwood Road. Interment, Forever Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc.
Gerry "Gary" Baker, of Kirkwood, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. He was 69.
Mr. Baker served on the Kirkwood Planning and Zoning Committee, and retired from McDonnell Douglas after 37 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Baker (nee Steel); children David, Jane and Gary; grandchildren Michael, Katy, Caroline, Lisa, Lori, John and Cameron.
Services were held Sept. 26 from Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood to Forever Oak Hill Cemetery.
Retired attorney Robert H. Batts, a nine-year member of the Webster Groves School District Board of Education, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Green Park Nursing Home in Affton.
The long-time resident of Webster Groves was 78. A native of Jonesboro, Ark., Mr. Batts grew up in Kirkwood. He studied law at the University of Missouri at Columbia, but left school to enlist in the Navy. He served as a naval aviator in World War II, then served 10 years in the Naval Reserve.
After the war Mr. Batts completed his law degree at Washington University School of Law. He practiced with the law firm of Rassieur, Long & Yawitz in St. Louis for 10 years before leaving to work in the legal department for Ralston Purina. He would later open his own law firm in Webster Groves. Mr. Batts was a member of the Missouri Bar from 1947-2001.
Mr. Batts was a member of the Webster Groves School Board for nine years during the 1950s and 1960s, serving as its president for three of those years.
He also served on the Webster Groves Park Board, and taught ninth grade Sunday School at his church, 1st Congregational Church of Webster Groves. He was active in Republican Party politics.
Mr. Batts was the husband of Betty L. (nee Mauer), father of Robert H. Jr. and Barbara A. Batts, grandfather of Jennifer E. Batts, and brother of Margaret Althans. Contributions may be made to Talking Tapes For the Blind, 16 Sunnen Drive, St. Louis, Mo. 63143.
Ruth C. Bell died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002. She was 92.
Mrs. Bell was a reference librarian and a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Kirkwood. She was wife of the late John R. Bell and daughter of the late Esther Anna White and John Daniel Coleman. She is survived by her stepson, John R. Bell II; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Nov. 12 at Grace Episcopal Church. Interment, Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 514 E. Argonne, 63122.
John Paul Benner, 29, died June 25. Benner was a contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (nee Nichols), two children, Emily and Charles John, parents Patricia Grutsch and Robert Benner, and sisters Amy Labelle and Jeanne Benner and brothers Robert Benner and Andrew Benner.
Services were held June 28 at Oak Hill Forever and interment at Ressurection Cemetery.

Helen Marie Cardosi-Reynolds died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002.
Mrs. Cardosi-Reynolds was the wife of the late Louis Cardosi and the late George Reynolds; mother of Louis Cardosi; grandmother of Leagh Cardosi; aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 30, with funeral services Thursday, Oct. 31, at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood.
Francis Bernard "Ben" Berglar III, a 45-year resident of Kirkwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002. He was 75.
Mr. Berglar was the owner of Greentree Realty Company in Kirkwood from 1969 until his retirement in 1993. He was an OASIS tutor at Tillman School, and a volunteer for Daily Worldmissionaries and Mother Teresa's Soup Kitchen.
He served in the U.S. Navy, then worked for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company until 1984. He took evening courses at Washington University, and in 1957 graduated with a bachelor of science degree.
He was a member of the Kirkwood Knights of Columbus Council 2117; the Knights of Columbus St. Louis Assembly Fourth Degree; The Fratellanza Society; the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose; the Hartford Steam Boiler Retirees Club and the White House Retreat.
Mr. Berglar is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn "Lyn" Boro Berglar; a daughter, Laura Tobey; a son, Dr. Peter F. Berglar; a sister, Rosemary Reyland; and seven grandchildren.

Esther Best (Nee Steinmeyer), 89, of Webster Groves, died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002.
Mrs. Best was the wife of the late Robert L. Best for 47 years until his death in 1984. She was the mother of Marilyn (Jimmie) Monsoor of Reno, Nev., and Nancy (late Donald) Zelle of Creve Coeur. Dear grandmother of Julia (Robert) Hull and Laura (Wade) Shreve; great grandmother of Andrew and Katelyn Hull; dear sister of George Steinmeyer of Oklahoma City; and the late Arline Zillgitt and Ruth Fleming.
Mrs. Best was active in the PTA and a Brownie leader during her daughters' childhoods. In her later years, she was a volunteer at Laclede Groves Convalescent Center for over 20 years until 1993. Mrs. Best was also active in the Women's Circle at First Congregational Church of St. Louis. She was an avid reader and had enjoyed square dancing with her husband.

Hurley P. Bibbs, possibly Webster Groves' oldest resident, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002. He was 104.
Mr. Bibbs was born on June 7, 1897, in Caruthersville, Mo. He was an employee of the Frisco Railroad for 47 years, a deacon of First Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Park for over 65 years, and a 33rd degree Mason.
In 1997, Mr. Bibbs celebrated his 100th birthday at Douglass Manor, where he resided. The Webster Groves City Council recently named a day after him and awarded him a key to the city for his lifetime achievements.
Mr. Bibbs was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Bibbs. Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 17, at First Missionary Baptist Church of Valley Park. A service will be held Friday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m at the church. Interment will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Kirkwood immediately following the service.
Jacqueline Elsie Biederman (nee Quevreaux), died Saturday, Feb. 23, after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Biederman lived in Kirkwood for over 50 years.
She was the mother of Christine Beville, George Biederman and Cindy (Tom) Granville; loving grandmother of Brett, Jennifer, Jacqui, Julie and Tracy; loving sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin and dear friend. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, 270 Lamp and Lantern Village, 63017.
