James R. McDonough, of Webster Groves, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002. He was 79.
Mr. McDonough retired from the St. Louis Police Department with the rank of lietenant. He was one of the founding members of the St. Louis St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the St. Louis Police Veterans Association and the St. Louis Police Fraternal Organization.
Mr. McDonough was preceded in death by his wife, Irene McDonough. He is survived by his children, Karen Kramer, Denise Kerry, and Kevin, Tim, Patrick and Kelly McDonough. He was father-in-law to Kathleen and Marcia McDonough, Greg Kramer, Sheila, Diane and Susan McDonough; grandfather to Sean and Jack McDonough, Zachary and Nicholas Kramer, Shamus, Conlan, Shannon, Kyle, Michael, Mark and Katie McDonough; brother of William McDonough, Dorothy Brice, Helen Mae Zwilling and the later Bernard and Ken McDonough; brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Funeral was Sept. 23, from the New Kutis South County Chapel to Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Webster Groves for Mass. Interment, National Cemetery.

Ariane MacChesney, daughter of Donald and Mary MacChesney of Kirkwood, died Friday, May 21, 2004, in Hudson, Mass., after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ms. MacChesney trained with NASA at JPL and Goddard, and was a production supervisor at G.E.-Panametrics of Waltham, Mass., in charge of building weather satellites.
She is survived by her son John; grandson Dante; brother Malcolm MacChesney and sister Gillian Hampton of Kirkwood.
Robert W. MacDermott, formerly of Kirkwood died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, of medical complications resulting from Alzheimer's.
Mr. MacDermott was a self-employed structural engineer and consulting architect. He was a graduate of Southwest High School and Washington University School of Engineering.
He served as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Navy. "Mac, " as he was commonly called, had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. He also enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing.
Mr. MacDermott was the father of Greg (Becky) MacDermott, Lisa (Randy) Howland and the late Mary Ann Poe; grandfather of Shaw Poe, Marcella and Wyatt MacDermott and the late Scott Poe; brother of Margaret Xander; and friend to many.
A funeral Mass was held Aug. 9, at St. Clare of Assisi Church in Ballwin. Arrangements by Forever Oak Hill Funeral Home at Pfitzinger in Kirkwood.
Logan Tompkins MacMillan, a longtime resident of Kirkwood died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at his retirement home in LaJolla, Calif. He was 82 years old.
Mr. MacMillan was project manager for the old McDonnell Aircraft Corporation's Mercury program that sent the first American into space. He was married to the former Suzanne Medart for 49 years, rearing four children, before her death in 1992.
After serving in World War II, Mr. MacMillan joined McDonnell Aircraft as a test pilot, later becoming the chief test pilot and project manager for the Mercury project. The program built 20 space capsules, including Freedom 7, which carried Alan B. Shepard Jr. in America's first space flight in 1961, and Friendship 7, in which John Glenn Jr. circled the Earth three times in 1962.
Mr. MacMillan is survived by two daughters, Mary Blaine Korff of Tucson, Ariz., and Susan Rien of Fair Oaks, Calif.; two sons, Douglas MacMillan of LaJolla and Logan MacMillan Jr. of Denver; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial gathering was held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Mudd's Grove in Kirkwood following a private burial at Forever Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ernestine Thro Magner died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at home in Webster Groves surrounded by her family.
Born June 6, 1914, in Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Magner was raised in St. Charles, Mo. She graduated from Lindenwood University in 1936, and attended graduate school at Cornell University.
She was a birder, botanist, naturalist, conservationist, environmentalist and world traveler. She was a longtime activist in the League of Women Voters, a Monday Club member and Boy Scout leader, and member of the Webster Groves Nature Study Society, the Coalition for the Environment and active in the Webster Groves community.
Mrs. Magner will be remembered for her great spirit, heart of generosity, service, humility, patience, love of nature and sense of wonder towards the earth and all that was a part of it. She was an intrepid explorer and hiker, walking the world to discover its myriad beauties.
She had a brilliant mind, a quiet strength and a selfless and forbearing spirit, and was courageous and cheerful through the sorrows of her life. She thought the best of every person she met, and used her busy hands to bless others. Many throughout the world will dearly miss her.
Mrs. Magner was the wife of John Marshall Magner; mother of Dr. Jay (Adrienne) Magner, Chip (Sue) Magner and Robyn Magner (Joy Cole) and the late David and Tommy Magner; sister of Charles Thro and the late Captain John Thro; mother-in-law of the late Corby Magner; grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves, 10 W. Lockwood Ave. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Calvin W. Maichel of Glendale died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004.
Mr. Maichel was a member of Craftsmen Lodge #717 A.F & A.M and Past Patron of O.E.S. Pomegranate Chapter #397. He was the husband of Eleanora Maichel (nee Howarth); father of Laura, Eric (Christina) and Mark (Judy) Maichel; step-father of David Welsh, Ellen (Michael) Hitschler and Robert (Sandi) Welsh; grandfather of Nathan, Gabe, Joel, Luke, Joshua and Maggie Maichel, Heather, Sarah and Justin Hitschler; brother of the late Donald Maichel; brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

Olin A. Mayer died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. He was the father of Douglas (Patsy Clark-Mayer) Mayer of Webster Groves.
Mr. Mayer was a resident of O'Fallon, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, and was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Mayer was the husband of Dolores Mayer; son of the late Andrew and Eugenia Mayer; father of David, Dennis and Douglas Mayer; brother of Orville and Donald Mayer and Lorraine Jones; grandfather of four; great-grandfather of two; uncle, cousin and friend.

Kevin M. McGarry of Kirkwood died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004.
Mr. McGarry was a captain in the Merchant Marines and a licensed examiner in mechanical engineering. He held several patents in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
He was the husband of the late Vicki McGarry; father of Shannon, Keely and Kevin McGarry Jr.; brother of M. Eileen McGarry, Thomas J. (Gretchen) McGarry, D.D.S., Patricia Ann (Dennis) Wichern and the late Matthew McGarry; brother-in-law of Kym McGarry; nephew of Ann Marie McGarry; uncle, cousin and friend.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Nov. 3, at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Des Peres. Interment private.

Edith McGee, a resident of Webster Groves for over 70 years, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004.
Mrs. McGee celebrated her 100th birthday on Feb. 2, 2004. She was the wife of the late Howard H. McGee Sr., who died in 1992, and is survived by daughter Patricia McGee Giles; son Howard H. McGee Jr.; daughter-in-law Leigh McGee; two grandchildren, Laurel Burke and Steven McGee; and a niece and nephew.

Kathryn McGuffey of Glendale died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. McGuffey was a graduate of Hanover College where she majored in mathematics and was active in sorority life. She was the wife of the late Thomas C. McGuffey, longtime manager of the Missouri Athletic Club. Mrs. McGuffey is survived by a cousin, Lynn Preiss; two nieces; and two nephews.
A memorial service was held Oct. 13, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Webster Groves. Interment private.

Robert Alwin McKercher of St. Augustine, Fla., formerly of Kirkwood died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004. He was 80.
Mr. McKercher worked as a civil engineer for many years in Kirkwood. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June McKercher; three children, Ted A. (Chris) McKercher, Susan Kay (Paul) Butterfield and Terrence R. McKercher; a grandson, great-grandson, a brother and five sisters. He will be interred in St. Augustine.
