Pamela Nieters (nee Huber) of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Kirkwood died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years old.
Mrs. Nieters was the wife of James M. Nieters and mother of Ingrid Karin Nieters and the late Erik Anders Nieters. She was the daughter of the late David M. Huber and Joan Huber and Barbara Solomon of St. Louis; and daughter-in-law of Ruth M. Nieters and the late Edmund (Ned) G. Nieters of Kirkwood.
Through the years she lived in University City and Kirkwood, plus Northville, Mich., Copenhagen, Denmark and Aachen, Germany.
A memorial service was held in February in Ann Arbor. A memorial gathering will take place in St. Louis in Tower Grove Park in early June.

Wade C. Norman, a longtime resident of Webster Groves died Monday, June 14, 2004. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Norman was the husband of Corinne (nee Holland) Norman; father of David (of Costa Rica), Bruce (Teresa) and Craig (Lori); grandfather of Allison, Travis, Thomas, Jennifer and Tyler; brother of Charlene Fleischauer and Nina (Curry) Duke; uncle of Patty Faust; counselor, educator, lover of nature and friend to many.
A memorial service and reception were held June 21, at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Webster- Rock/Hill Ministries. Arrangements by Gerber Chapel.
Franklin M. Nugent, a 30-year resident of Oakland, died Sunday, March 21, 2004. He was 79 years old.
A World War II veteran and 1951 Washington University graduate, Mr. Nugent and his wife Doris operated an insurance agency and owned real estate. He was a great lover of the outdoors, and spent as much time as he could on the float streams of southern Missouri and the lakes of southern Illinois. He and his wife also motor-homed extensively throughout the United States
"He was passionately interested in the history of the natural world and the dynamics of the social world, " said his wife. "He thought deeply about these topics, drawing on his fiercely independent and iconoclastic mind. He eschewed conventional wisdoms of all kinds, and thirsted after greater insight into the horrors and wonders of the world."
In his later years Nugent's lifelong commitment to social justice led him to become involved in a variety of organizations, from the Libertarian Party to a jury advocacy group called The Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA).
He was the Libertarian Party candidate for lieutenant governor in 1992, and was also the co-founder of FIJA-Missouri, an affiliate of the national FIJA organization, and served as its coordinator and chief spokesperson.
Nugent was a frequent contributor to newspapers, and was regularly sought out by church groups, business groups, fraternal organizations and radio shows to represent FIJA.
Mr. Nugent is survived by his wife Doris M. Nugent (nee: Marglous); sons James Wolf Nugent (Ruth) and David Leslie Nugent (Weisu); and five grandchildren, James Wolf Jr., Doris Angelique and Sarah Jessalyn, and James Franklin and Leah May.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27 at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Rd., in Ladue. Donations would be appreciated to FIJA, Box 5570, Helena, Montana, 59604-5570.
Donald J. O'Hallaron of Webster Groves died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004.
Mr. O'Hallaron was raised in Webster Groves, and served as a master sergeant in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.
Following his return from service, he joined his father in the insurance agency business. He owned and operated O'Hallaron Insurance Agency with offices in Webster Groves, Rock Hill and Glendale until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. O'Hallaron was succeeded in the insurance agency by his son, Dan, who continues to operate the business, now known as CountyOne Allied Insurance in Kirkwood.
Mr. O'Hallaron served as an active Boy Scout leader with Troop 335, Mary Queen of Peace. He rarely missed a campout and assisted all five of his sons in becoming Eagle Scouts.
Mr. O'Halloran is survived by his wife of 62 years, Connie O'Hallaron (nee Lucas). He was the father of Michael (Lori) O'Hallaron, Patty (the late Gregg) Keller, Kerry (Carol) O'Hallaron, Daniel (Juanita) O'Hallaron, John (Janet) O'Hallaron, James (Laura) O'Hallaron; pop to Erin (David) Davis, Matt and Danny Koontz, Kristin (Chris) Hemminghaus, Kayte and Matt Keller, Sean, Kevin, Patrick, Jeffrey, Kitti and B.J. O'Hallaron, Levi and Kamryn Kessel, Brian, Matthew, Sean, Molly, Kate, Claire and Michael O'Hallaron; great-grandfather of Sam and Jack Hemminghaus, Scott and Colleen Davis; brother of Dorothy Kaletta, June Davis, Kathleen Wright and Richard (Phyllis) O'Hallaron; brother-in-law of Gin (George) Renard and George (Catherine) Lucas; uncle, great-uncle and friend.
Funeral services were held Aug. 17, at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery.
Scott Harris Oliphant, a Webster Groves High School graduate died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004. He was 35.
Mr. Oliphant was born in Vicenzia, Italy. He graduated from Webster Groves High School, attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, and graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a bachelor of arts in English and a teaching certificate.
He taught English at McCluer High School since September 1995. He was the yearbook sponsor and football game announcer there for the past eight years, and the school newspaper supervisor for the past three years.
Mr. Oliphant was also a journalist for the "Daily Record" legal newspaper, and enjoyed playing the guitar and reading.
Mr. Oliphant was the husband of Elizabeth Tarrant-Oliphant, and father of Antoinette. He was the son of Marianne Oliphant of Webster Groves and Jerry (Carole) Oliphant; brother of Todd (Terri) and Joe Oliphant; uncle, brother-in-law, teacher, mentor and friend.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 14, at First Congregational Church of Webster Groves. Interment, Forever Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements by Gerber Chapel, Webster Groves.
James D. Osborne, a longtime Webster Groves resident died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004.
Mr. Osborne graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1951. He was a retired mechanical engineer and had many friends and co-workers in the Webster-Kirkwood area.
Mr. Osborne was the husband of Jolene M. Osborne; father of Jeff Osborne, Lynn Schaffner, Duane Hafley, Keith Hafley, Lori Niebling and Kurt Osborne; grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many.

Marjorie Lillian Meyer (nee Lotz) died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Meyer was the wife of the late Dale J. Meyer; mother of Susan L. Meyer and Dale J. (Marsha) Meyer; daughter of Margaret and the late Albert Lotz; grandmother of Matthew and Victoria Meyer; aunt, great-aunt, cousin and sister-in-law.

Richard E. Michalski, a long-time English and journalism professor at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, died of cancer Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at his home in Fenton. He was 59.
A native St. Louisan, Mr. Michalski graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1960 and received his bachelor's degree from Rockhurst College in Kansas City. After working as a reporter for the St. Louis Globe Democrat, he earned his master's degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and pursued doctoral studies at Saint Louis University.
Mr. Michalski taught at Loyola College in Baltimore and Cardinal Glennon College Seminary before accepting an English and journalism teaching position at Meramec in 1971 where he taught for 31 years.
From 1974 to 1996, he was the advisor to the student newspaper, the Montage. During his tenure, the paper was named an All American newspaper for 17 years in a row by the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP), won numerous awards including the ACP National Pacemaker Award, the highest award in collegiate journalism, and became a charter member of the ACP Hall of Fame. Montage staff members won numerous individual awards from the Missouri College Media Association, and many former students have gone on to careers in journalism and related fields.
Mr. Michalski was also journalism instructor and advisor to the Mark Twain Summer Institute for outstanding high school students for eight years and was named Missouri College Media Advisor of the Year for1994-1995.
Besides journalism, Mr. Michalski also taught courses in American Literary Humor. He authored "Handbook to American Humor" in 1997 and co-authored "American Humor: An Anthology and Handbook" in 1999. As the recipient of the Meramec Faculty Lecture Award for 1999, he presented a lecture entitled "The Gospel of Humor." He has presented numerous papers and lectures on humor and journalism.
A funeral mass was held on March 8 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Webster Groves. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.
Among the survivors are his wife of 36 years, Margaret (Peggy) Michalski; their three children, Mark Michalski of Glendale, Bill Michalski of St. Louis, and Megan Michalski of St. Charles; two brothers, John Michalski of Simsbury, Conn., and Frank Michalski of West Orange, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Chlorine Michel, 82, died Feb. 3 at the Lutheran Convalescent Home in Webster Groves. Mrs. Michel worked as a church secretary until her retirement. Born in St. Jacob, Ill., on Sept. 22, 1919, Mrs. Michel was married to the late William Michel. She has a daughter, Karen Orf, and was preceded in death by daughter Nancy Stanley. Mrs. Michel is survived by a sister, Darlene Staley. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Priscilla F. Schroer Milburn, died Sunday, July 14, 2002. She was 59 years old.
Mrs. Milburn was a member of Webster Groves O.E.S. Chapter #64 for 20 years, and a member of Episcopal Church of the Advent.
She was the loving daughter of Inez (nee Lankford) and the late James W. Neely; mother of James and Scott Alan Schroer; grandmother of Skyler Michelle Layton-Schroer; cousin and friend to many.
Visitation was held Friday, July 26, at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves. Easter Star services were held Friday evening, with a funeral on Saturday, July 27, at Episcopal Church of the Advent in Crestwood. Burial was Monday, July 29, in Woodlawn Memorial Park, in Nashville, Tenn.
