Charles R. Brennan of Webster Groves died Thursday, May 5, 2005. He was 87 years old.
Mr. Brennan was the husband of the late Loretta A. Brennan (nee Du Hadway); father of the late Janice Humphrey and Marshall R. Brennan; father-in-law of Steve Humphrey and Linda Brennan; brother of Maurine Karger; grandfather of five; great-grandfather of six; brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Helen "Moldy" Brey (nee Morice) of Des Peres died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005.
Mrs. Brey was the wife of the late Lt. Col. William M. Brey; mother of Jeanette (Michael) Froehle, Michael (Karen) Brey and Joanice (Charlie) Yarnall; daughter of the late Fred and Philomena Morice; sister of Leona Welsch and the late Clarence, Elmer and Robert Morice; grandmother of Andrew and Peter Froehle, Matthew Brey, and Tara and Benjamin Yarnall; aunt, cousin and friend to many.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Clement Church in Des Peres. Interment, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Virginia "Jinny" Bryan (nee Waggoner) of Webster Groves died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005. She was 91.
Mrs. Bryan was born in 1913 in Webster Groves. Having lived in Glendale, Alton, Ill., and in retirement, Orleans, Mass., she returned to Webster Groves in 2003 to enjoy life with her sister, Jane Evans, and best friend of 80 years, Elizabeth "Bee" Robinson.
Mrs. Bryan was devoted to her family and active in her churches: Grace Episcopal in Kirkwood, First Presbyterian in Alton, and First Parish Unitarian-Universalist in Brewster, Mass. She graduated from Webster Groves High School, and received her bachelor's degree in 1934 from Washington University. She taught mathematics, and was active in the American Field Service, the League of Women Voters, and the Kirkwood Garden Club.
Mrs. Bryan was the daughter of William Cornell Waggoner and Myrtle Eleeta Salveter Waggoner; sister of the late Dorothy Schmidt, and her surviving siblings, William Waggoner and Jane Evans. She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Pete) Ruger, and sons Bill (fiancee Ann) and David (Cherie) Bryan; and grandchildren Scott, Rebecca, Ted, Jason, Galen and Liam; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many other family and friends.

Edward A. Bucker of Kirkwood died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005.
Mr. Bucker was Past Master of Brentwood Masonic Lodge #616 A.F. & A.M. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Bucker was the husband of Joy C. Bucker (nee Byers); father of Pam (Steve) Lakey and Dianna Bucker; grandfather of Sabrina and Amber; great-grandfather of Aspen; uncle and friend.

Eleanor Vetter Burr, a longtime resident of Kirkwood died Thursday, May 26, 2005.
Ms. Burr was born May 9, 1917, in Chestertown, N.Y., to Charlotte Boyer Vetter and Ralph Anton Vetter. She was educated at Wheelock College in Boston and worked as a nursery school and kindergarten teacher. On June 29, 1940, she married Elbert W. Burr.
Ms. Burr was a longtime volunteer at St. Louis Children's Hospital, hospice, the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She welcomed neighbors, extended care to friends and brought muffins or soup just when it was needed. She cherished her membership in PEO Sisterhood Chapter GZ.
In her last few years of life, Ms. Burr made her home at Cape Albeon in Valley Park and leaves caring friends there. In the last week of her life she was cared for by the staff of Brooking Park, who were able and kind.
Ms. Burr is survived by her brother, Fred (Jean) Vetter; her close cousin, Sally (John) Kubin; daughters Cynthia Peterson and Betsy Burr; grandchildren Kate Peterson and Sara Peterson (Erik Sessions); great-grandchild Meg Sessions; nieces and nephews, cousins and friend, Pat (Pete) Doyle-Grace.

Carl W. Burst Jr. of Webster Groves died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005.
Mr. Burst was born in St. Louis. He purchased Mill Supply & Machinery Co. in 1946, a wholesale distributor for organizational supplies and machine tools. He retired and sold the company in 1990.
Mr. Burst graduated from Western Military Academy and Westminster College. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Webster Groves, and was an active fundraiser for the YMCA of Webster Groves.
Mr. Burst was the husband of Jennie Holekamp Burst; father of Carl W. (Mary) Burst III, Suzanne (Dennis) Barnes, Richard H. (Kathleen) Burst and the late Diana Bartlett; father-in-law of John M. Bartlett; brother of Dr. Donald O. (Alice) Burst and James L. (Nora) Burst; brother-in-law of Edward Holekamp, Edith Drosten, John Holekamp, and Malcolm (Mary) Holekamp; grandfather of Jennie (John) Wynne, Sarah (Marcus) Burgher, John (Ashley) Bartlett Jr., Charles (Nicole) Burst, William Burst and Morgan Barnes; great-grandfather of Marcus, Diana and John.
A memorial service was held Oct. 31, at First Congregational Church of Webster Groves.
James W. Burt of Sunset Hills died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, of heart failure. He was 71.
Mr. Burt was a member of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, elder and trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member and volunteer at the Webster Groves YMCA, and chairman of CT-Innovations, which sells and installs health care communications products.
He was born in Muncie, Ind., and attended Purdue University, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1956. After graduation, Mr. Burt began working at Emerson Electric. He joined CT-Innovations, the former Executone of St. Louis, in 1959. The company was started by his father-in-law, Richard P. Edwards, in 1946.
Mr. Burt was a board member of the St. Louis Civic Ballet company and St. Louis Area Food Bank. He was a member of many professional organizations, including the St. Louis Chapter of the Producers Council, where he was a former president, and the AAIM Management Association, where he served as chairman.
Mr. Burt was an avid sports fan. He competed in the Senior Olympics and coached junior high school basketball at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Westborough Country Club.
Mr. Burt was the husband of Carole Burt for 48 years; father of Beverly McReynolds, Virginia Weisheit and Cynthia Brussee; brother of Philip Burt, Robert Burt, Catherine Burt and Janie Taylor; and grandfather of seven.

Dennis Bohnenkamp of University City, formerly of Kirkwood died Thursday, June 1, 2006, of complications following heart surgery.
Mr. Bohnenkamp was the fiance of Lucie Beaudet; father of Max (Helen Kim) Bohnenkamp; former husband of Linda; brother of Lynn (the late Don) Elders; cousin of Kathy Moenster; uncle, brother-in-law, friend.

Robert L. Harder of Kirkwood died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. He was 78.
Mr. Harder retired as vice president of operations of Steelweld Equipment Company of St. Clair, Mo. He dedicated his life to working with youth through the Kirkwood Khoury League and Masonic organizations of DeMolay and Jobs Daughters.
Mr. Harder was the husband of Betty Jean Harder (nee Schraven) for 60 years; father of Barbara Lee, Deborah Jean (Charles), Betsy Lee, and John Robert (Kathleen). Roberta Lee and Billy preceded him in death. He was the grandfather of Robert Pope, Cindy and David Kumer; brother of John and Pat Harder, John and Alice Cox, Alice Harder (nee Wise), Kenneth and Jean Harder, Juanita Hatch (nee Harder), Margaret Taff and Betty Jane Hildreth (nee Harder); and son-in-law of Mayme Schraven. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Nancy Jane Knight (nee Coffman) of Webster Groves died Thursday, June 1, 2006. She was 82.
Mrs. Knight was a lifelong resident of Webster Groves and a renowned artist, metalsmith and musician. She also taught art, and was a French horn player for local groups, including the St. Louis Women's Symphony and the Kirkwood Symphony. She was a Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, a member of P.E.O. and the Artist Guild.
Mrs. Knight was the wife of Harold E. Knight Jr.; mother of Susan (Gary) Mayfield, David (Nancy) and Jonathan (Dianne) Knight; grandmother of eight; great-grandmother of six; sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.
A memorial service was held June 4, at Gerber Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Anna F. Lammert (nee Gearon), a longtime resident of Kirkwood died Thursday, May 25, 2006. She was 85.
Mrs. Lammert was primarily a full-time homemaker, and raised six wonderful children. She worked part time for years at Ursuline Academy in Oakland as a vending hostess. Known as the "Pink Lady" because of the smock worn, she won the hearts of hundreds of students. A touching tribute was given upon retirement. Mass was celebrated along with family for 40 years at St. Peter Parish, Kirkwood.
Mrs. Lammert was the wife of the late George J. Lammert for 60 years; mother of Connie, Barbara (Ron Isbel), Mary (Peter Andress), Larry (Liz), Eric and Alan (Paulette); sister of Ferd, Gabrielle, Morris, Margaret, Mary, Martha, and Bill; grandmother and great-grandmother. For the past two years, care was given by her devoted family. Mrs. Lammert's caring nature, love of life, wonderful sense of humor and smile will live on in the memories of many.
She was a hearty supporter of Catholic Charities, Goodwill and the Salvation Army. Memorials may be made to them. The American Stroke Association was supportive. St. Louis University School of Medicine received Mrs. Lammert's last gift of life for medical studies. Much good can be achieved through medical research, she believed.
Funeral arrangements for Kirkwood resident Jill Mountain Raiser, who died Sunday, May 28, 2006, are pending, and will be online at www.timesnewspapers.com when they become available.
Mrs. Raiser died after being struck by a car on May 28 (see WKT, 6/2/06). Her husband, Charlie, was also struck. He has been moved out of the intensive care unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and his condition has been upgraded to stable. The family has requested no visitors at this time. The couple has one son, Joseph.
"Jill was one of the stars of this community, in so many areas, " said Kirkwood Public Library Director Wicky Sleight. "The Library, the Kirkwood Historical Society, Oasis. We will all miss her."

Mildred "Millie" Higgenbotham Scott of Webster Groves died Thursday, June 1, 2006.
Mrs. Scott was born in Mississippi on Oct. 25, 1915. She and her family moved to Webster Groves in 1932, where she attended Douglass High School. She married Edgar A. Scott, who died in 1977. The couple had no children.
Mrs. Scott worked at Reliable Life Insurance in Webster Groves from 1968 to 1991. She was one of the first residents of Douglass Manor Apartments, the renaissance of her old high school. She was resident manager there until 1995 and continued to live there until just days before her death.
Mrs. Scott, also known by her pen-name, Milliscott, was a writer and poet. She hosted annual writers' forums at Douglass Manor for a number of years. The assembly of writer friends and acquaintances would read bits of their writings and share stories and laughter.
Mrs. Scott is survived by one sister, Willie May Franklin, of St. Louis.
Funeral services were held at the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves on June 6. Interment, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Arrangements by Yandell Mortuary.
