Carl E. Widell Sr., of Webster Groves, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002. He was 83.
Mr. Widell was a ham radio operator for almost 70 years. He worked for Wagner Electric Corp. prior to joining the Navy in 1941. He was stationed in New York City and Pearl Harbor after the Japanese air attacks. He served until 1945, then rejoined Wagner and moved up to vice president of sales and marketing, retiring in 1974 at the age of 55.
Mr. Widell was the husband of Jean (nee Johnston); father of Carl E. Jr. (Pamela), Douglas J., David W. (Sarah), and Patricia C. Marx; grandfather of Elise, Svetlana, Katya, Monica, Todd, Coe, Drew, Paris and Annie; brother of the late Fred Widell.
The family received friends and family on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves.

Francis R. "Frank" Wienhoff, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
Mr. Wienhoff was a member of St. Peter Parish in Kirkwood and The American Institute of Architecture. He was a former building commissioner for the City of Webster Groves.
Mr. Wienhoff was the husband of Patricia A. Wienhoff (nee Louis); father of Angela R. (Edmund) Griesedieck, Kenneth (Christine) Wienhoff and Richard F. Wienhoff; grandfather of Patrick Griesedieck and Amanda Wienhoff; brother of Charles (Irma), Lawrence (the late Georgia), Louis (June), Joseph (Barbara), Christopher (Barbara) Wienhoff, Charlotte (Bill) Thompson, Mary (Ben) Mortellaro, Martha (Bob) Johnson, Cecelia (Bob) Mann, Ruth Santoya, Rose (Keith) Edwards and the late Paul Wienhoff; brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.
Funeral was held Sept. 26 from Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood to St. Peter Catholic Church for Mass. Interment, National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Harris House of St. Louis, 8327 S. Broadway, 63111.

John S. Willison died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.
Mr. Willison owned and operated the Kirkwood Queens Way Laundry, was past president of The Greater St. Louis Obedience Training Center, and a charter member of the Carlyle Sailing Association.
He was the husband of the late Jeanne Willison; father of Thomas (Joyce) Willison; Patricia (Jim) Kent and Nancy Willison; grandfather of Chris, Lauren, Sean and Rebecca Willison, and Tracy and Andrew Kent; uncle, cousin and friend.
Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Webster Groves. Memorials to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit of St. Joseph Hospital, Kirkwood.

Marion M. Wilson of Webster Groves died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002. She was 75 years old.
Ms. Wilson began her career in 1949 as a first grade teacher with the Ferguson-Florissant School District, and worked until her retirement in 1997. She was a lifetime learner, beginning as a freshman at Washington University in 1944 and continuing into the spring of 2002. She served as director of early education for 25 years.
In the early 1970s, Ms. Wilson started the first preschool in the United States known as Saturday School, and one of the first early childhood special education classes in St. Louis County. She also started one of four pilot programs for Parents As Teachers in 1981.
Ms. Wilson was active at the Missouri Botanical Garden, a supporter and volunteer with the St. Louis Symphony, served on the board of Giant Steps, a school for autistic children, and was active at St. Michael & St. George Episcopal Church in Clayton.
Ms. Wilson was the daughter of the late Rev. Edwin and Ruth Streckfuss Wilson. She is survived by cousins Barb Mathews and Tom, Katie, Mark and Marcia Wilson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Kim, Jon, Andrew and Krista Wilson of Snyder, N.Y.; Lisa and Jim Priest, and Michael and Jenny Cafagna of Chesterfield, Mich.; and Judy and Bob Prince of McClean, Va. She is also survived by her aunt, Marquerite Wilson of Grand Rapids, Mich., and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Michael & St. George Episcopal Church, 6345 Wydown Road in Clayton, followed by a reception. Interment was in New Bethlehem Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw, St. Louis, Mo., 63110; Ferguson-Florissant School District Early Childhood Education Program, 1005 Waterford Dr., Florissant, Mo., 63033; or to the St. Louis Symphony, 718 N. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, Mo., 63103.

Marla T. Witte, 62, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002.
Mrs. Witte was an insurance broker and a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Kirkwood. She is survived by her husband, John J. Witte; a daughter, Jean Marie Witte; sons Joseph Robert Witte, James Edward Witte, and John Steven Witte; and six grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Gerard Majella on Friday, May 24. Interment at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mary "Kay" Worrall died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Worrall was the wife of Samuel Worrall for 61 years. She was the mother of Robert Worrall; sister of Dorothy Kendall; grandmother of Michael Fischer, Carrie Fischer, Sean Worrall and Catie Worrall; and the daughter of Thelma Brown and W.P. Anderson.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at Forever Oak Hill Funeral Home at Pfitzinger in Kirkwood. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas, 75265-0309.

Paul Kenneth Yost, a Kirkwood High School graduate, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002. He was 21 years old.
Mr. Yost was a student at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. He was the son of Ken and Cathy Yost of Kirkwood; Ken Yost is the director of public works for the city of Kirkwood.
Mr. Yost was the brother of Dave Yost; grandson of Woody and Etta Brown and the late Joseph and Catherine Voss; nephew and cousin.
A memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood on Thursday, Oct. 3. Arrangements by Bopp Chapel, Kirkwood.

Harry Melvin "Bus" Young, Jr., lifelong resident of Webster Groves, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. He was 86.
Mr. Young was a 1934 graduate of Webster Groves High School. He was former chairman of Western Wire Products Company, and a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Gene Bailey Young of Webster Groves; daughter Jennifer J. Young of Kirkwood; son Harry Melvin "Mel" Young, III, of Tempe, Ariz., daughter-in-law Paige Murphy-Young and granddaughters Dakota and Keili, also of Tempe, Ariz.; son Gene B. Young of Kirkwood, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Lively Young and granddaughters Anne and Rebecca, also of Kirkwood; sister Eva Young Lankford, formerly of Kirkwood; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves would be appreciated. The family would also encourage everyone to participate in some element of community service in memory of his example.

Nancy Zahnweh died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002.
Mrs. Zahnweh was the wife of Robert Zahnweh; mother of the late David Hill Lyon; step-mother of Dova (Don) Kasden, Robert J. (Karen) Zahnweh and Susan (Dan) Faulhaber; grandmother of six; sister of Miriam H. Goehausen; aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m. at Gerber Chapel, 23 W. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves, with a memorial service at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Mercy Hospice, St. Louis Zoo, or to the Missouri Historical Society.

James (Nick) Zarvos, a retired transportation executive, died Jan. 14, 2002 after a long illness. He was 81 and a long-time resident of Des Peres.
Mr. Zarvos was vice president of transportation of the former Continental Grain Co. He worked in various positions in Omaha, Neb., New York City and St. Louis.
Mr. Zarvos was a native of Lincoln, Neb. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Mr. Zarvos was admitted to practice before the Interstate Commerce and the Federal Maritime Commission. He attended the University of Nebraska.
Mr. Zarvos was the husband of the late Madeline W. Zarvos, and father to Judy Goetchius (Harry), Susan, Jane Ortbals (David), Marta Carpenter (Rick), James Jr. (Tish), Anthony, John (Bev Cox) and Cathy Lehmkuhl (Skip). He was a grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of three.
Internment was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to Unity Health Hospice.
