Raymond William Schmitz
1929 - 2017

Schmitz, Ray W., Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wed., March 15, 2017 at 87 yrs. Beloved husband of the late Ann L. (nee Portell) . Loving father of Dennis (Lyn), Dan (Peggy) & Pam (John) Schmitz. Dear grandfather of Scott, Kevin, Brian, Christopher & Meg (Kylee) Schmitz, and Ryan & Danya Michniok. Son of Fred Schmitz & Margaret (nee Anth), and brother of Margaret & Fred Schmitz, all deceased. Ray was born Aug. 26, 1929 in Kirkwood. Grew up in Kirkwood & Webster where his parents owned Fred's Tom Boy Food Shop. At 17 he joined the US Navy, serving 5 yrs aboard the USS LAWE as sonar man and veteran of the Korean War. In 1962, Ray founded Enterprise Label Co which is still a local family owned business today. An avid golfer, he was a loving husband & awesome father & grandfather. A great sense of humor, he was loved by all.
Visitation Sun., March 19, 3-8 pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood.
Funeral Mon., March 20, 10 am St. Michael, Shrewsbury. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery

Anna Khalil
1944 - 2017

Anna Khalil, asleep in Jesus Friday March 10, 2017. Beloved wife of Nadim Khalil. Dear mother of Bassam, Elham and Shawn Khalil, dear mother-in-law of Jackie Khalil, Dear grandmother of Grace Khalil. Dear sister of Nader, Milad, George, Elias and the late Monsour Abounader. Dear aunt, sister in law, cousin and friend to many. Long-time resident of Kirkwood and former owner of Majic Market for 15 years.

Services will be held Sunday March 19, 2017 from 11:30-12:30 with a Celebration of life to follow from 12:30-3 at St. Raymonds Cathedral, 931 Lebanon Dr, Saint Louis, MO. 63104.

Rose A. Bokermann
1954 - 2017

Bokermann, Rosemary Alice (nee Koebbe) took her final breath on March 10, 2017 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Gary Bokermann; dear mother of Julie (Nikki) Bokermann, Gary Bokermann Jr and Elizabeth Bokermann; dear grandmother of Avery and Rosemary; dear sister to Gerri Herbst (Joe), Joyce Bunt (Larry), Karen Page (Dave), August Koebbe Jr. (Suzanne), Beverly Fitzsimmons (Terry) and David Koebbe (Gina); our dear sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin and friend to all she met. Preceded in death by August Koebbe Sr., Marcella Koebbe and Al Bokermann.

Rose was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was always the life of the party and her laugh made everyone smile. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She spent most of her life being the most amazing mom and then took on a second career in the catering department at Enterprise. She was so proud of her children, but more recently her grandchildren that she loved with the most generous, open and kind heart. She will be missed by all but the memories will stay alive forever. “Life is a book. The fact that it was a short book doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good book. It was a VERY good book.”

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd, Kirkwood, MO 63122. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Rd, St. Louis, MO 63131. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery of Kirkwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis, 1058 Old Des Peres Road, St.

John Philip Hess III, M.D.
1948 - 2016

John Philip Hess III, MD

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Beloved husband of Cynthia (nee Carter) for 43 years; loving father of Catherine (Shane MD) McGonegle, John Philip Hess IV, Cynthia (Sean) Lyons, Elizabeth (Colin) Lewis, and Anne Marie (Louis MD) Aliperti; proud grandfather of Catherine, Mary, and John McGonegle; Sean, Jr., Anna, and Felicity Lyons; and Cecilia Aliperti; dear son of the late Catherine and John Philip Hess, Jr.; dear brother of Patricia (Michael) Giaminetti; dear son-in-law of Pauline and the late George Carter, brother-in-law of Timothy (Kathleen) Carter and Pauline (David) Naumann; dear uncle, great uncle, and cousin.

Dr. Hess was a graduate of St. Louis University High School, the University of Notre Dame, and Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the University of Virginia. He served on the Medical Executive Committee at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and was also president of the medical staff. He served as the president of the Tulane University School of Medicine Alumni Association and as a member of the Tulane University School of Medicine Board of Governors. He brought great skill and dedication to his profession and will be remembered for his kindness and compassion to all.

Funeral Saturday, September 17th, 10:00 am from Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood to St. Anselm Catholic Church for 10:30 am Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Friday 4-8:00 pm.

Thomas Scott Ruh, Ph.D.
1937 - 2016

Ruh, Dr. Thomas Scott, 79, Baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection, peacefully at home on September 16, 2016, beloved husband for 48 years to Mary (nee Christiano) Ruh, cherished father of two daughters, Cynthia Cazenavette (George) and Natalie Hoemschemeyer (Kenneth) and Gramps to seven grandchildren, George, Elizabeth, Margaret, Thomas, Mary Grace, Theresa and Anna, brother of the late James Michael Ruh, our dear uncle, friend and colleague to many.

He graduated from Gonzaga University (BS, PhL) and Marquette University (MS, PhD) . After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois, Urbana, he came to Washington University then St. Louis University School of Medicine for 30 years, where he was a professor of physiology and pharmacology. His life-long research interest was the study of the estrogen receptor. He was funded primarily by the National Institutes of Health and published extensively. Following his retirement, he was granted professor emeritus.

Funeral Mass Tues., Sept. 20, 11 a.m. at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Rd., Des Peres. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Tues. at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Charities, 4445 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.

Gary L. Johnson
1941 - 2016

JOHNSON, Gary L. Wed., Sept. 28, 2016. Dear husband of the late Jo Ann Rutherford Niccum Johnson; dear father of Denise (Dennis) Tower; dear grandfather of Derek Tower & Dyane (Adam) Lowrance; dear step-father of William “Scooter” Niccum & Heidi (Cris) Niccum Hehner; dear G Pa of Brennan & Miles; dear brother of Linda Robinson; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews & brother-in-law.

Gary was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, worked at Monsanto from 1964 to 1991 as a chemical engineer. He was past president of the Missouri Pilots Assoc. and board member of the US Pilots Assoc. He enjoyed flying, woodworking and was an all-around good guy.

Visitation Mon., Oct. 3, 5-7 p.m. at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. In lieu of flowers Gary would like for everyone to vote and make a contribution to their favorite charity.

Wilma E. "Willie" Krisay
1918 - 2016

Krisay, Wilma E. “Willie”, 98, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Thurs., Sept. 22, 2016. Beloved wife of the late John G. for nearly 46 years, dear mother of Margaret “Peggy” (the late John) Grotpeter, loving grandmother of Jennifer Grotpeter (Andrew Sundelin) and Becky (Gary) Skaggs, dear great-grandmother of John-Spates, Audrey and Cora, dear aunt and friend.

Wilma volunteered for 35 years at Missouri Baptist Med. Ctr.

Services: Visitation Sun., Sept. 25, 3-7 pm at BOPP CHAPEL, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Funeral Mass Mon. 10 am at St. Peter Church, Kirkwood. Interment, Resurrection. Memorials preferred to Mo. Baptist Cardiac Cath. Lab.

Louis Stephen DeLuca
1936 - 2016

Louis Stephen DeLuca (Lou), 79 passed away on September 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Cleveland, OH the son of Italian father Anthony “Tony” DeLuca and Ukrainian mother Helen Danylyk which created an appreciation of traditions and cultures in him and his two brothers.

He served the army and was stationed in Korea. After which, he married Christina D’Ambrosio. They began a family and he was transferred to St. Louis, MO where he continued in his insurance career. Before the web and cell phones, Lou provided personal service and visited all of his clients. He remembered their situations, the names of their children and more to prove his clients were not just a paycheck for him, but the people he was taking care of in his way.

He enjoyed reading, card games, puns, word games and told “corny old- man” jokes much sooner than he should have. He was quick witted and always ready to pounce with a joke. He loved to make people laugh and tried to see the best in everyone. He opened his home to anyone who needed a safe place, a meal or somebody to listen. He had a quiet, unobtrusive way of trying to help others without need for credit or fanfare.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christina (nee D’Ambrosio) DeLuca. His daughter, Teresa McQuay, his son Anthony (Lynne’ Buxton) DeLuca, daughters of the heart Kim (Patrick) White and Patti (Tony) Spenard and good friend Richard McQuay. Grandchildren Rachel White, Cameron Buxton, Ricky McQuay, Saffron Buxton and Zach McQuay. Brothers Ralph (Susan Bradly) DeLuca and Richard (Patricia) DeLuca. Sisters in law Marianna (the late Chip) Slama, Michelina (William) Segulin and Marge DeLuca. Aunt Stephanie Danylyk . Beloved uncle and cousin.

He gifted his body to St. Louis University medical school. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the children’s charity of your choice.

Martha L. Schindler
1924 - 2016

Schindler, Martha L., Born October 19, 1924; Died September 18, 2016. Beloved Daughter, Mother and Wife. She is survived by her son, Dennis Charles Deering (Pamela) and daughter in law, Sharon Deering. She was preceded in death by husbands Charles B. Deering, Jr., R. Jere Maulhart, and E. Wendel Schindler; her parents, Hobart M. and Mary E. Laur of Mt. Vernon, IL; sons Douglas Mark Deering and John Michael Deering of Springfield, MO and daughter Christy Ann Deering of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Douglas C. Deering, Mark W. Deering, and David C. Deering; step daughters Nancy Maxey and Diane Alonzo; step grandchildren Suzanne L. McGownd, Cheryl A. Carlson, Devin W. Maxey, and Blake J. Myers; great grandchildren Dylan M. Deering, Kristen E. Deering, Lauren Deering; step great grandchildren Bailey Carlson, Garrett Carlson, Connor McGownd and Conner Kolander.

Martha was a generous, gracious lady whose life touched many friends and family over her 91 years. Her accomplishments besides raising three wonderful children included working as bookkeeper for Deering Pharmacy in Brentwood, MO; working for the City of Warson Woods as city clerk (May 1969--November 1988) and as alderman (1992–1996); serving on the board of Braefield Home Owners Association and landscape committee.

She and husband Wendel belonged to Forest Hills country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. She bowled on a team, belonged to several bridge groups, a bunco group and a social group of retired city clerks called the Use-to-Be’s. Her esthetic talents showed in the beauty of her home and garden.

She was well loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in St. Louis, MO. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, September 24th, beginning at 11:00 am in Kirk Cemetery, Ina, IL.

Robert F. Ingraham
1937 - 2016

Robert (Bob) Freel Ingraham October 11, 1937 – September 21, 2016 Bob was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska and graduated from High School in Edgemont, South Dakota in 1956. He graduated from Parks Business College in Denver November, 1957. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1958 until 1961. Most of that time was spent in Heidelberg, Germany where he worked in the accounting department, met his wife Marie, and played fast-pitch softball with a team who won the NACOM division title (Bob had a lot of fun in the Army!) . He attended Covenant College, Shimer College, and graduated from The University of Minnesota.

Bob married Marie Loken of Fairview, South Dakota August 26, 1962. They had five children, Ran Macauly born June 2, 1965 and died shortly after birth. Mark Robert, born May 26, 1966; David Alan, born July 15, 1968, Stephen Melvin, born April 24, 1974; and Rondi Marie, born April 18, 1976. While in Germany, Bob visited Dr. Francis Schaeffer several times, a theologian who founded a ministry called L’abri Fellowship. Dr. Schaeffer was a big influence who later encouraged Bob to attend Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. Bob loved to spend simple, but quality time with his family: apple picking, working with leather, wood carving, family game nights, and many fun road trips. He and all three boys were very active in Boy scouts and went on many camp-outs even in the winter. Bob was active in the church. He led youth groups, taught Sunday school classes, and also spent time mentoring those growing in their faith. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie and children: Mark and Jennifer with children Soren, Merrick, and Rowan, Dallas, TX; David with children Evelyn and Chloe, Denver, CO; Stephen with children Isabella and Samual, St. Louis, MO; Rondi and Greg Raymond with children Wyatt and Pierce of Chicago, IL; his sister, Bobbi Beyersdorf, brother Gary, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service Sun., Sept. 25, 3:00pm at First Free Evangelical Church, 1375 Carman Road, 63021. Interment Mon. 9:00am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Sat. 3-5:00pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood.
