Courson, Carole, J., age 77, on Friday, June 24, 2016, beloved wife of Myron A. Komarynsky for 50 years, dear sister-in-law of Irene Komarynsky. She had a circle of friends, near and far.
Carole was an alumnus of and a retired Professor of Chemistry at Washington University. She was an avid traveler, loved crafts, embroidery, music and nature. She was devoted to all animals, especially her companion dogs, cats and horses. She was passionate about the environment and supported many causes related to the environment and the wellbeing of animals.
Funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or the Nature Conservancy.

Russell, Catherine Marie (nee Kreps) Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, entered eternal life on June 22, 2016. Catherine was 98 years young.
Beloved wife of the late Raymond Stephen Russell, beloved mother of the late Raymond Joseph, loving mother of Joseph, Thomas (Linda), and Mary (Michael) Reedy; adored Granny Russell of Tommy, Johnny, Mark, Brian, Jodi, Chris, Wendy, Shawn, Shane, Shannon, Michael, Katie, Patrick, Molly and Timmy; favorite great grandmother of 29; dear great-great-grandmother of 11; loved sister of the late Marian, Joe and Tom Kreps; dear grandmother-in-law, aunt, and sweet friend to many.
Catherine "my mother's name was Finnegan, " was born in St. Francis Xavier Parish where she began her lifelong admiration of the Jesuits and BVMs. She attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and was a proud graduate of Xavier High School, class of 1936. The example put forth by the Jesuits and BVMs allowed Mom to develop and maintain a true devotion to the Miraculous Medal and Rosary. She was a devout Catholic, proud of her Irish heritage and a lifelong Democrat. With her magnetic, generous, and spunky personality, Granny spent her life providing unconditional love and support for her family and many friends. She was an eager and able story teller whose life’s lessons and wisdom will be passed on for generations by her beloved grandchildren. Catherine's family will be forever grateful for the loving care she received at Mother of Good Counsel Home.
Private burial. A Visitation, 2:00pm, and Memorial Mass, 3:00pm, will be held Mon., June 27, at her cherished College Church, St. Francis Xavier. JAMES “LOGAN” MAYFIELD, age 68, of Glendale, died peacefully at home after courageously battling lung cancer, June 21, 2016.
Survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy (nee Schatz); children Lindsay (Shane) Bennett of Perth, Australia, and Logan (Sarah) Mayfield of Monmouth, Illinois; grandchildren James Mayfield, Norah Mayfield, and Hadley Bennett; sister Jennie Mayfield; mother-in-law Louise Schatz, and longtime friends. Preceded in death by parents James Logan and Lucile (nee Dixon) Mayfield.
Logan graduated from Crystal City High School and Washington University. He retired from SBC after 31 years in marketing. Logan loved Mizzou football, his grandchildren, the mountains, his beagles, a good book, and a round of golf; a highlight of his life was playing the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland.

Rassi, Jay Elder, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, June 19, 2015, in Mesa, Arizona. He was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Peoria, IL. Jay served in the US Air Force and Air National Guard (ANG) of Peoria, IL, and retired as a Technical Sergeant. He worked for Xerox and CSU as a copier service technician. He is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne Rassi, their four children: Nat, Gina, Scott and Sasha; nine grandchildren, many cousins and friends. Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Duriece (Elder) Rassi and brother, Lawrence.

Proscino, Ann M. Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Ann died peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Ann will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 30 years, Steve, and their two sons, Matthew Proscino and Daniel Proscino; her devoted parents, Thomas and Elinor Moore; her brothers Thomas Moore, Jr. (Leta), and John Moore (Elizabeth); her sisters Michele Moore (Michael) and Julie Tully (Kevin); her sisters-in-law Charlotte Ferroni (Sonny) and Cheryl Gilday (David); her adoring 22 nieces and nephews, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, 22 cousins, and 5 great nieces and nephews; and so many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, 12 uncles and aunts, father-in-law and mother-in-law, and 2 cousins.
Ann traveled a great deal throughout her life, earned her Business Degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and her Masters of Business Administration from St. Louis University. She was highly accomplished at Eagle Snacks and Anheuser Busch, Inc. Her greatest love was raising her precious sons with her husband and enjoying all that life offered to them.

John Patrick Doyle PhD

Doyle, John Patrick “Jack, ” Ph.d., Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Saturday July 2, 2016. He was born in Boston to Irish immigrants, John Joseph and Margaret Gertrude (nee Donovan) Doyle. Faithful to them and to generations of Irish ancestors before, Jack lived and died a practicing Catholic. He always thanked the Catholic nuns and priests who gave their lives to educate him and so many like him. After receiving his AB from St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore and then two years active service in the US Army, followed by the reception of his MA from Boston College and his doctorate from the University of Toronto, he came to St. Louis University in 1967 where he taught philosophy until 2007 when he retired as Professor Emeritus. He then served for 4 ˝ years as Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Kenrick Glennon Seminary. During the period of his academic career, in addition to teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses, he was active in the Pro-Life Movement, volunteered for 4 years as chairman of the Missouri Governor’s Committee on the Employment of the Handicapped, worked for 10 years as an aide to Congressman Robert A. Young, was a member of the 1980 National Democratic Platform Committee, received the Nancy McNeir Ring award in 2002 for excellence in teaching, and authored more than 50 learned articles, mainly in the area of Late Medieval Scholasticism. Starting at age 65, between 1995 and 2013 he published 10 volumes of philosophical translations and studies. He regarded himself as a real scholar, albeit a minor one, and gave thanks to God for that and his family. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Gale (nee Bradshaw) Doyle, seven dear children and their spouses: Patrick (Leslie) Doyle, Kevin (Sandra) Doyle, Jennifer (Daniel) Uhle, Stephen G. Doyle, Katherine (Scott) Tyrrell, John Paul (Stefanie) Doyle, and Elizabeth (Christopher) Vancil, plus 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
