Bruce N. Hensley of Glendale died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006. He was 41.
Mr. Hensley graduated from John C. Calhoun High School in Walterboro, S.C., and completed his bachelor's degree at SMS, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Mr. Hensley earned his master's degree from Washington University, and was a program manager with the Anheuser-Busch training and development group.
Mr. Hensley was the husband of Mary McCarthy Hensley; father of Ryan Hensley; son of E.C. and Lavon Hensley of Nixa, Mo.; and brother of Janel (Scott) Harris. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Jan. 26, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trust Fund for Ryan Hensley, c/o Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, Mo. 63122.
John H. Irish, formerly of Webster Groves, Kirkwood and Manchester died at the Garden View Care Center Dougherty Ferry in St. Louis on Jan. 13, 2006. He was 93.
Mr. Irish was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Dec. 3, 1912. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he worked for Swift & Company for 35 years before his retirement in 1970. He served all of the communities where he and his wife Dorothy lived with a variety of activities.
Mr. Irish was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and M.Z. Irish; his sisters, Caroline James and Jean Morgan; and his son-in-law, Lee Meyer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (nee Garn); two daughters, Lynne Meyer and Carol Irish (Mrs. Dana Welch); two granddaughters, Nicole King and Gail Irish; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Perry of Webster Groves died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006. She would have been 100 years old on April 2, 2006.
Mrs. Perry was the wife of the late Raymond R. Perry. She is survived by her brother, Elmer Herchert; two daughters and sons-in law, Shirley and Karl Wolf of Webster Groves and Betty and Bill Woolbright of Lakehurst, N.J.; eight grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 23, at Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park.
Audrey L. Pfeifer (nee McIntosh) of Wheaton, Ill., formerly of Warson Woods died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006. She was 92.
Mrs. Pfeifer was the wife of the late Dr. George Edwin Pfeifer; mother of Ellen C. Pfeifer (Daniel Polvere) and Peg (Bob) Alvis; grandmother of Lucianna (Timothy) DiBona, Francesca Polvere and Jordan Alvis. She was preceded in death by her brother, William McIntosh.

Susie Geneva Wood of South County died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006. She was 82.
Mrs. Wood was a strong, wise, loving mother, grandmother and friend, who was totally devoted to her family. Her heart was without limit, and her spirit will live on in all who were touched by her.
Mrs. Wood was the mother of Tessa Greenspan, owner of Sappington Market, and the late Fredda Bates; grandmother of Louis Steven (Somsri) Greenspan and Terri (Peter) Arscott, Cheryl Stacey and Richard Bates; great-grandmother of Priscilla (Ryan) Boswell, Joey and Jessica Stacey, Josh Weir, Brandon and Alex Arscott; great-great-grandmother of Brezlyn Boswell and Kyle Bates; aunt and great-aunt.

Mrs. Chandler was the wife of the late Eric G. Chandler; mother of Enid C. Betty "Bets" Chapman (nee Lyders) of Webster Groves died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005. She was 81.
Mrs. Chapman, of Norwegian descent and a strong Lutheran upbringing, grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Her father owned the local feed business and some farms in the surrounding area. However, "Bets" was not the typical "farmer's daughter."
Upon graduation from MacMurray College for Women in Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Chapman was asked to stay on as a professor. She taught Clothing & Textiles and, in addition, took on the job of college dietician.
On a blind date, she met her future husband, Bill. In addition to being a dedicated wife and tireless, selfless mother for her two children, she found time to be active in her children's school, in volunteer work for the Missouri Historical Society, the Webster Groves Public Library and several other charitable organizations.
Friends and family will miss her quick wit and charm which, combined with her playful sense of humor and wisdom, defined her as the compassionate, dedicated mother that will always be loved and remembered.
Mrs. Chapman was the wife of William H. Chapman; mother of Thomas William (Judy) Chapman of Rowlett, Texas, and Barbara (Thomas A.) Chapman Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; grandmother of Allison Keely and Cori Chapman Williams; sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Alexander M. Chekoudjian, 24, of Webster Groves, died Saturday, June 25, 2005. (See store page 23.) Mr. Chekoudjian was the son of Pamela and Michael Chekoudjian; brother of Vanessa Crocker, Tasha, Christi and Dominic Chekoudjian; grandson of Mildred Bakewell Muckerman.

Mary C. Clements (nee Lyons) of Webster Groves died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.
Mrs. Clements was the wife of the late George T. Clements; mother of Dennis (Lisa) and Mark (Marina) Clements; grandmother of Matt, Mike, Sam, Kate, Jadzia and Raina; great-grandmother of Julia; sister, cousin and friend to many.

James Gavit Clifton of Webster Groves died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, following a stroke. He was 79.
Mr. Clifton was born in Hammond, Ind., on Jan. 8, 1926, to the late Raymond and Inez Clifton. He graduated from the Missouri School of Mines (now UMR) in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He worked as an engineer for several companies, joining Monsanto in 1959. There he worked in the engineering department. Mr. Clifton later worked for Monsanto's Astroturf division, where he served as director of installation and engineering, installing the first Astroturf field at Busch Stadium. He was an active member of his church, serving as deacon, trustee and elder.
Mr. Clifton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ruth (nee Smith); four children, William Robert (Gail), Thomas Raymond (Cynthia), James Gavit Jr. (Debi), and Sue Ellen Williams (Michael); grandchildren Robert Raymond Clifton, Jonathan Edward Clifton, Katherine Lea Vowels, Andrew Raymond Clifton, Daniel Joseph Clifton, James Gavit Clifton III, David Christopher Clifton, Ellen Michelle Williams and Timothy Raymond Williams.

Ethel Willetta Comer of Webster Groves died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005.
Mrs. Comer was born 83 years ago in Johnson County, Ill., the daughter of the late William F. and Rose Etta Comer and sister of the late William Comer.
She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and received an advanced degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. Until her retirement, she taught music in University City schools and in Webster Groves. She sang in the choir of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church.

Robert E. Conyers, a 40-year resident of Des Peres died Saturday, March 26, 2005, of complications from pneumonia. He was 87 years old.
An Oregon native, Mr. Conyers graduated from Clatskanie High School, where he was student body president and an Eagle Scout. While attending Oregon State University, he served as president of Sigma Nu fraternity, as well as president of the Interfraternity Council.
In 1939, he graduated with a degree in agricultural engineering. Mr. Conyers received a scholarship to the Stern School of Business at New York University, and in 1941 he was awarded his master's degree in business.
He then entered the Navy's "Ninety Day Wonder School, " and graduated as an ensign. He was immediately assigned to the USS Craven, a Fletcher class destroyer in the Pacific fleet. He spent four years at sea during World War II, and earned 10 battle stars. He remained in the naval reserve and retired a full commander.
In 1943, Mr. Conyers married his college sweetheart, Mary Jane Gigray, in Portland, Ore. They moved to St. Louis in 1946, where he founded Silk Screen Products Company, Inc., an outdoor billboard and point-of-sales advertising firm. During his tenure as company president, Mr. Conyers was elected a national officer of the International Screen Printing Association, and in 1985 he received the association's highest award for service to the industry. In 1988 he sold the business and retired.
Mr. Conyers was a life member of Clatskanie Masonic Lodge #133, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Scottish Rite, a member of the York Rite, the Royal Order of Jesters and Moolah Shrine Center, where in 1973 he served as Illustrious Potentate.
Mr. Conyers was appointed to the governing boards of the St. Louis Advertising Club, Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis, the St. Louis County Grand Jurors Association, and served on the board of Commerce Bank. He was a member of the Missouri Athletic Club, Sigma Nu fraternity, Greenbriar Hills Country Club, Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, Navy League, Stockham Post of the American Legion and the St. Louis Jazz Club.
He was the husband of Mary Jane Conyers (nee Gigray) for 61 years; father of Linda Luttbeg, Judy (Edward) Mayer and William Conyers; brother of Jim Conyers; grandfather of eight; great-grandfather of four.
Funeral services were held March 31, at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood. Interment private. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63131.
