Ruth I. "Rusty" Coombs (nee Watkins) of Glendale died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005. She was 67.
Mrs. Coombs was born in Mobile, Ala. She was a devoted Army wife, raising her four daughters alone during her husband's extended absences during the Vietnam and Cold War era.
During peacetime assignments she traveled the world with her husband and family, facilitating diplomatic relations as a military officer's wife. Following her husband's retirement, the family moved to a small Webster County, Mo. farm. She moved to Glendale in 1994.
Mrs. Coombs was the wife of John G. Coombs (U.S. Army, Ret.); mother of Jamie (James) Gagliarducci, Kimberly (Ron) Stillwell, Robin (Doug) Schnell and Jill (Doug) Hurt; grandmother of Joshua and Emma Gagliarducci, Wednesday and Casey Storm, Matthew Schnell and Morgan Hurt.

Joan Martha Cosgrove of Kirkwood died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005.
Mrs. Cosgrove was the wife of Edward J. Cosgrove; mother of Kim (John) Robertson, Robin (Bill) Warrick, Lauren (Joel) McNett, Tracy (Keith) Fields and Michael (Jane) Cosgrove; grandmother of Casey, Haley, Emma, Zach, Hannah, Avery, Jesse, Chelsea, Sam, Jonah, Colin, Savannah and Arabella; sister of Hilda, Ruth, Ronald, Barbara, Kenneth, Clifford, Ralph and the late Hans and Carl; aunt, cousin and friend.

Catherine M. Costello (nee Kelly) of Kirkwood died Monday, April 18, 2005.
Mrs. Costello was the wife of the late William Costello; mother of Mary Beth (Herman) Brummett, Father Jack Costello, Peter (Deborah) Costello, Pat (Margie) Costello and the late William F. "Bill" Costello; aunt; grandmother of 17; and great-grandmother of 17.

Ethel Walker Couch of Detroit Lakes, Minn., formerly of Webster Groves died Monday, June 13, 2005. She was 86.
Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Quentin W. Couch. She is survived by her children, Jane (Bruce) Besse of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; Sally Richardson of Bremerton, Wash.; William (Karen) Couch of Palatine, Ill.; grandchildren Ian Besse, Jesse Richardson Jones, and Lauren and Robert Couch; and two sisters, Kathryn Walker of Louisville, Ky., and Carolyn Kent of Frankfort, Ky. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Leslie Walker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2 p.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 9 S. Bompart, in Webster Groves. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jacqueline Frances Crawford of Webster Groves died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005. She was 76.
Ms. Crawford was the daughter of the late John A. and Annette R. Crawford; sister of the late John "Skip" Crawford; aunt of Cherri K. Crawford and Stephanie A. (Mark) Steitz; great-aunt of five; sister-in-law, cousin, friend and neighbor.

Leo R. Cummiskey Jr. of Webster Groves died Monday, May 9, 2005.
Times readers may remember Mr. Cummiskey as "hubby" a moniker given to him by his wife, Times columnist Mary Cecelia "Cele" Cummiskey. Mrs. Cummiskey frequently featured her husband and children in the award-winning weekly columns she wrote for the paper. She preceded her husband in death on June 28, 2003.
Mr. Cummiskey was the husband of Cele Cummiskey for 46 years; father of Ray (Vicki) Cummiskey of Stuebenville, Ohio; Mary "Cecy" (Kirk) Volding of Ballwin; Genny (Art) Van Doren of White House Station, N.J.; Cathy (Eric) Landgraf of Kirkwood; and John Cummiskey of St. Louis.
He was the brother of Jane (Al) Bartley and Walter (Joan) Cummiskey; the late Tom Cummiskey and Julia Hartmann; brother-in-law of Bea Cummiskey, Nancy Koenig, and Jerre Waddock, Vincent Waddock; grandfather of 10; uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Olga Rose Daman (nee Perino) died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005.
Mrs. Daman was involved with volunteer service throughout her lifetime. She was a volunteer with the Domus Dei Center, Lutheran Medical Center and St. Anthony's Medical Center. She was a St. Anthony's Auxiliary member, and volunteer and friend to the Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce.
Numerous Labor Days were spent helping with St. Louis Multiple Sclerosis fundraisers. She loved and cherished her grandchildren and pets.
Mrs. Daman was the wife of the late Dr. George Albert Daman; mother of George (Jan) Francis Daman D.V.M. and Judy (Bob) Finck; grandmother of Kim (Christopher) Scheel, Christine (Bob) Peters, Rachel (William) Klug and Linsey Daman; sister of Fede Vaccaro and Irma Bursasco; sister-in-law of Laverne (Bill) Fecht; aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Mrs. Dann was a member of St. Agnes Home and a life member of the Greater St. Louis Folk and Square Dance Federation.
She was the wife of the late William H. Dann; sister of William C. Osdieck, the late Henry B. Osdieck, Helen Whited and Dorothy Allen; sister-in-law and aunt.

Kathryn S. "Kay" Day of Webster Groves died Saturday, July 16, 2005.
Mrs. Day was born in Wyoming, Ohio, and raised in Cincinnati. She attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia, and received her bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. After graduating, she founded and operated a nursery school.
During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Ordnance Department in Chicago, Ill. Marrying in 1945, she and her husband, H. Douglas Day, moved to Webster Groves in 1950.
After raising her family, Mrs. Day owned and operated a well-known estate sales business, which she ran for many years. She and her husband were admired for their creative and understated dancing to a variety of jazz styles. For many years, their "home away from home" was in Longboat Key, Fla., where they were members of the Sarasota Jazz Club.
Mrs. Day was the wife of the late H. Douglas Day; mother of Diana Day (George Lehner) and David Day (Jane Larson); grandmother of Kristin and Alison Lehner, and Alex and Patrick Day; sister of Alice Jay White and the late Elizabeth S. Garrett; aunt and friend to many.

Dorothy M. "Dotty" DeLassus of Webster Groves died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, of complications from cancer. She was 54 years old.
Mrs. DeLassus lived in Webster Groves for 29 years. She was a longtime Webster Groves City Council member, and was serving her third term on the council at the time of her death.
Mrs. DeLassus is survived by her husband, Paul DeLassus; sons Greg and Jean Paul DeLassus; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 28, 10 a.m., at First Congregational Church of Webster Groves, 10 W. Lockwood. Interment, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
