Maggie Johnson Caldwell

Maggie Johnson Caldwell, 61, of Canton, died April 26, 2005, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held April 30 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Caldwell attended Madison County Training School and Rogers High School. After graduating from high school she moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she lived until moving back to Canton two years ago.
Survivors include: her mother, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson Jackson; and mother-in-law, Ora D. McLaurin.
Estella Potts
Canton
Estella Potts, 62, of Canton, died April 26, 2005, at St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held April 30 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Middleton Grove Cemetery.
Potts was a faithful member of New Bethel M.B. Church. Although, she never had children of her own, she was like a mother to many, especially her many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include: her loving and devoted niece, Katie Wilder and her nephew, Sherman Potts; brothers, James Potts and wife Francis of Milledgeville, Ga., Joseph Potts of Vicksburg and Sammie Potts of Jackson; her goddaughter, Tiera Wells.
LaVerne Lowry
Canton
LaVerne Lowry, 83, of Canton, died April 28, 2005, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Graveside services were held April 30 in Canton Cemetery.
A native of Canton, Lowry lived most of her life in Jackson and returned to Canton in 1984. She was a retired secretary who worked for the Ohio; daughters, Margaret R. Hall of Eupora, Elizabeth Moore of Vaughan and Sharon Gatlin of Pickens; sister, Billie Barlow of Houston, Texas, was raised in Sharon. He graduated from Canton High School and Hinds Community College with high honors. He served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army Alpha Company, 1st Battalion and 26 Infantry Divisions, The Big Red 1, also known as the Blue Spade. He was stationed in Augsburg and Goeppigen, Germany. He was employed with Environment Master and Shelby/Skipwith Air Conditioning and Butcher Distributors. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he was a charter member and a former member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Home Builders Association and American Legion Post No. 67.
Survivors include: his wife of 35 years, Shirley McKay Burns of Madison; his daughters, Teri McTexas, Floyd Burns and wife Becky of Warren, Washington
Canton
Maude Blackmon Washington was a member of Pleasant Gift M.B. Church where she was a member of the Mass Choir.
Survivors include: her father, Leon Blackmon; sisters, the Rev. Clora T. Handy, Irene Eckols, Shirley Jones, and Barbara Roberson; brothers, Earnest Tucker, Columbus Tucker, Perry Blackmon, Marlon Blackmon, the Rev. Melvin Blackmon, Fletcher Blackmon and Leon Brown; grandchildren, Tameika, Richard, Kimesha, Shaqita, Shontelle, Victoria, Samuel, Kayla and Charle; sister-in-law, Mary Jackson.
Katherine Ainsworth
Madison County
Katherine Dickinson Ainsworth, 82, died April 13, 2005, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held April 15 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with burial in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Ainsworth was a Madison County native where she attended school. She was most proud of her work in restoring fine China and porcelain after completing her training and tutoring under the noted Katie Lazell of Jackson. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her sons, Randolph Kuriger of Nassau Bay, Gardner and husband Hank of Olive Branch, Amy Wilson and husband Mike of Southaven; great-grandchildren, Austin Kuriger, Cody Gardner, Caleb Gardner and Cage Gardner; nephew, Donald Dickinson of Madison County; and niece, Joyce Dickinson Lee of Rankin County.
