Nick N. Crawford Sr., 70, of Ridgeland, a retired general contractor/business owner, died Nov. 15 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Southside Assembly of God in Jackson with burial in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mr. Crawford, a naval veteran of the Korean War, served aboard the USS Wasp from 1952-56. His family moved to the Jackson area in 1980 from Ely, Minn.
Survivors include: his wife of 471/2 years, Claudette Crawford of Ridgeland; his sons, James "Jim" Crawford and wife Kathie of Brookhaven, Edward "Ed" Crawford and wife Debi of Boaz, Ala., Nickie "Nick Jr." Crawford and wife Rhonda of Ridgeland, and Claude "Rusty" Crawford and wife Missy of Mendenhall; sisters, Mary Hopkins and Sharon Kawohl, both of Hobart, Ind.; brother, Louis F. Crawford of Crete, Ill.; grandchildren, Chris and James Crawford-Huffman, Thomas, Brandon, Claudia, Terri-Lynn, Justin Bethany, Ian and Delaney Crawford, Travis Olson; great-grandchildren, Christian and Jaylen.
James H. Graves

James Harold Graves, 80, of Canton, died Nov. 17 at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton with burial in Canton City Cemetery.
Mr. Graves was a retired truck driver, a member of Center Terrace Baptist Church in Canton, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Jo Poole Graves of Canton; his daughter, Betty Vance King and husband Paul of Canton; his brother, Luther Graves of Canton; and grandson, Reid Vance of Canton.
Doris Purvis
Canton
Doris Purvis, 72, of Canton, died Nov. 17 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton with burial in Canton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Purvis was a retired nursery and kindergarten teacher. She was the city of Canton's chairperson for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital from 1978-79. She was a leader during the clean up of Canton following a tornado in 1980.
Survivors include: her daughter, Paula J. Purvis Trepagnier of New Orleans, La.; her sons, Dr. Robin A. Robinson of Dickerson, Md., and Donald E. Purvis Jr. of Canton; sisters, Evelyn J. Cravey of Laurel, Margaret Ellzey of Ellisville, Louise Burgess of Petal and Marion Carneley of Pensacola, Fla.; brother, Perriman Brewer Jr. of Petal; and grandchildren, Adam Robinson and Samantha Helms.

Nathan Jones Sr.
Canton
Nathan Jones Sr., 74, of Canton, died Nov. 6 at Madison County Medical Center in Canton.
Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones loved fishing and hunting and spent many days working in his garden.
Survivors include: his wife, Anna Jones; sons, Henry Jones of Chicago, Ill., Robert Jones, Nathan Jones Jr., both of Canton, and Jimmie Jones of Jonesburg, AR; his daughter, Johnnie Green wood of Jackson; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Albert Doyle

Albert Doyle, 79, of Canton, died Nov. 11.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Family Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in Priestley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Doyle was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Elease Doyle of Canton; stepson, Tyrone Palmer; brothers, Henry Doyle and wife Marie, and Willie Doyle, all of Canton; sister, Mary Doyle; and other relatives and friends.
Betty Jean Scott

Betty Jean Scott, 53, of Canton, died Nov. 10 at the Pleasant Hills Living Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Greater Sims Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Canton with burial in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Survivors include: her sons, Milus Monroe Scott of Meridian, Michael Scott of Camden and Timothy Scott of Canton; her sisters, Irene Thomas and husband Willie C. of Sharon, Margaret Scott and Gloria Dean Scott of Canton; brothers, Johnny Lee Scott of Orlando, Fla., Robert Scott and wife Christine and Charles Scott and wife Ida of Canton, Columbus Scott of Brandon; stepbrother, Cloetha Griffin and wife Lynn of Fannin; stepsister, Rosie Lewis of Canton; great-aunt, Zola Powell of Canton; and one grandchild, Tanyla.

Zeneather Gray, 85, of Camden, died Nov. 12 at St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Greater Murphy Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Camden with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: her sons, Johnnie Lee Gray of Gary, Ind., Odell Gray of Joliet, Ill., Henry Gray and wife Bernette and Percy Gray of Sharon; foster son, Thomas Brent of Joliet, Ill.; grandchildren she reared, Cassandra Reed and husband Robert of Pensacola, Fla., Demectrese Evans and husband William of Jackson, Eric Gray and Markice Wilson of Sharon; son-in-law, John Smith of Farmhaven; daughters-in-law, Ella Mae Tanner-Gray of Canton and Mattie Gray of Joliet; sister, Josephine Harper and husband the Rev. Cornelius Harper of Chicago Heights, Ill.; brothers, Walter and Glaster Bennett of Chicago, and George Bennett of Camden; and one brother-in-law, James Gray of Forest.
Carl L. Eldridge
Ridgeland
Carl L. Eldridge, 70, of Ridgeland, died Nov. 21.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with burial in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mr. Eldridge was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Signal Corps. He lived in a house with daughters evenly divided between the University of Mississippi State and cheered each with vigor.
Survivors include: his daughters, Janet Webb and husband David of Ridgeland, and Debbie Martin and husband Andy of Carthage; grandchildren, David Ray Webb Jr, and Nathan Lee Webb, both of Ridgeland, Andrew Dwight Martin II and Dustin Drake Martin, both of Carthage; his sister, Mary Alday of Crystal Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
