W.H. Rhodes
Canton
W.H. Rhodes, 86, of Canton, died Oct. 27, 2004, at Highland Home in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at Breeland Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Canton Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes was employed with Jitney Jungle Stores for years. He also worked for Cole Brothers and Fox Wholesale Grocers as a warehouse supervisor and retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of Center Terrace Baptist Church for 50 years where she served as a deacon and as an honorary lifetime deacon.
Survivors include: his wife, Julia Rhodes of Canton; his sons, Keith Rhodes of Sandhill and Bryan Rhodes of Gulfport; his daughters, Sandy Branson of Aurora, Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 2 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Blackjack Cemetery in Yazoo County.
Survivors include: her daughters, Judy S. Hargon and Gwen Smith, both of Vaughan, Donna Wallace of Bogue Chitto; brother, Robert Levon Dye of Coldwater; sister, Jessie Binner of Memphis; and two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Janet Cook Brown
Bentonia
Janet Lisa Cook Brown, 44, of Bentonia, died Oct. 21, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at Breeland Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in the Canton Cemetery.
A native of Canton, Mrs. Brown had lived in Jackson before moving to Bentonia three years ago. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include: her husband, Henry W. "Hank" Brown of Bentonia; sons, Justin Michael Brown of Clinton and Colton Michael "Colt" Brown of Bentonia; daughters, Brittany Richelle Brown of Canton and Bailey Nicole Brown of Bentonia; mother, Erma A. Cook of Canton, and sister, Linda McCraw of Madison.
James Edward Hanners
Madison
James Edward Hanners, 58, of Madison, a retired veteran, died Oct. 22, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services were held Oct. 26 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison. A scattering of ashes ceremony will be held at a later date.
Hanners was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. He lived in Green ville before moving to Madison in 2003.
Survivors include: his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Marie Hanners of Madison; his daughter, Penelope Jane Lee and husband Corey of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his son, Jonathan Edward Hanners of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Arieana Kendra Lee, Chandler James Lee and Lauren Grace Hanners; sisters, Eddie Lavonia Patterson and husband James of Opelika, Ala., Reva Coker and husband Tom of Valley, Ala., Jean Franks of Osteen, Fla., and Louise Molnar and husband Dick of Brandon, Fla.

Evelyn B. Whitehead
Flora
Evelyn B. Whitehead, 68, of Flora, died Oct. 22, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Breeland Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in the Jackson Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitehead was a lifelong resident of Flora. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her sons, Merton Whitehead Jr. of Flora, Harry Whitehead of Flora and Russell Alan Whitehead of Jackson; her daughters, Jan Thornton of Belzoni and Connie Briggs of Flora; brothers, Marvin Easterling of Flora, Sidney Easterling of Pascagoula, Junior Easterling and Glynn Easterling, both of Mize; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Kenneth F. Wissner
Georgia, died Oct. 22, 2004, at St. Joseph Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga.
Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Morton with burial in Line Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Bettye Gray Wissner of Richmond Hill, Ga.; his daughter, Andrea "Dre" Helms of Florence; stepdaughter, Rebecca Gressett of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Pam Houston of Madison and JoAnn Watkins of Tupelo; and grandchildren, Logan and Holden Helms, both of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer or Line Creek Baptist Church in Morton.
William Fred 'Bill' Sanders

William Fred "Bill" Sanders, 49, of Madison, died Sept. 3, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held Sept. 3 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison with burial in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mr. Sanders was a carpenter by trade.
Survivors include: his son, Joshua William Sanders and daughter, Jessi Nicole Sanders; sisters, Beth George of Florence and Suan Sanders of Ridgeland; his parents, Fred ad Billie Sue Sanders of Madison; nieces, Summer Stewart, Amy Mitchell and Anna Cohn; nephews, John Michael George Jr., and David Pursell Jr.; great-nephew, Cade Mitchell; and great-nieces, Presleigh Mitchell and Reagan Cohn.

Hazel M. Cothen
Jackson
Hazel M. Cothen, 77, a retired public school teacher, died Sept. 6 , 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Services were Sept. 7 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland with entombment in Trinity Mausoleum at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Cothen was born Aug. 2, 1927 in Newton to Chester Spurgeon and Ruth Dukes Moulder. She was reared in Hattiesburg and taught public school for 16 years in Jefferson Parish, La. She had been a resident of the Jackson area for 13 years and was a former resident of New Orleans, where her husband taught at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dr. Joe H. Cothen of Jackson; children, Dr. Jodie Cothen and wife, Teresa, of Louise, Cynthia Cothen Morgan and husband, Dr. Keith Morgan, of Macau, China, and Dr. Nathan Cothen and wife, Vicki, of Beaumont, Calif. Joshua Cothen of Norfolk, Va., Micah Lane Morgan of Houston, Texas; and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Boteler of Hattiesburg, Joyce Mathis of Long Beach and Bobbie Nell Taylor of Hattiesburg; and a brother, Chester Moulder of Hattiesburg.
