Grant Franklin Ayers
Grant Franklin Ayers, 43, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 20, 2014, at his home. He was a member of Hebron MB Church in Lamar and a self-employed auto mechanic.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, Feb. 28 from 2-6 p.m. and at the church on March 1 from 10-10:55 a.m.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on March 1 at Miracle Temple Salt & Light Ministries in Lamar. Burial will be in Hebron MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Andre Williams will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Ashley Foster of Lamar; three sons, Jeremy Foster of Oxford, Brandon Thomas, Grantham Ayers, both of Holly Springs; his mother, Maggie Mason Ayers of Lamar; his father, Thelma Ayers of Lamar; four sisters, Sarah Ayers of Memphis, Tenn., Brenda Tucker, Angela Gorman-Echols, MarKeshia Ayers, all of Holly Springs; two brothers, Gregory Ayers of Memphis, Gary Ayers of Lamar; his grandmother, Willie Ann Mason of Lamar; and a granddaughter.
Roy Lee Cole
Roy Lee Cole, 56, of Olive Branch, died Feb. 16, 2014, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was an insurance salesman, a former Auxiliary Deputy of Benton County, former owner of Cole’s Auto and Cleanup Shop, ran for Third District Supervisor of Benton County and was finance director of Wolfchase Honda for 30 years.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22 at St. James Church of God In Christ in Ripley, where he was a member. Burial was in St. Rest Cemetery in Ripley. Elder Earl Shannon officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Cathy Marie Hoyle Cole; a daughter, Brekaya Marie Cole of Olive Branch; three sons, Cornelius Cole, Johnathan Cole Sr., both of Olive Branch, Detrick Cole of Whiteville, Tenn.; his mother, Janie L. Williams of Chicago, Ill.; his father, Oscar B. Reaves of Milwaukee, Wisc.; 10 sisters, Nora Williams, Deloris Williams, Crystal Williams, Brenda Williams, Debra Williams, Phyllis Duminie, Jean Williams, all of Chicago, Genea Williams, Charlie McKenzie of Memphis, Tenn., Ada Williams of Southaven; four brothers, Larry Williams, Maurice Williams of Chicago, Elijah Reaves, Oscar Reaves Jr., both of Milwaukee; and six grandchildren.
Melvie Grace Elliott
Melvie Grace Elliott, 84, of Ashland, died Feb. 21, 2014, at Baptist Collierville Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. She was the widow of Thomas L. Elliott and a carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sons, Gary Elliott (Martha) of Holly Springs, Craig Elliott (Karen) of Bartlett, Tenn.; a daughter, Joanna Stinson (Bob) of Michigan City; a brother, Waymon Samples of Ashland; a sister, Mary Frances Dickerson of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Dennis Orlando Isom
Dennis Orlando Isom, 33, of Byhalia, died Feb. 20, 2014, at Methodist Healthcare of Olive Branch. He was a member of Nicholas Chapel CME Church in Byhalia, a graduate of Byhalia High School and a self-employed maintenance laborer.
Services were held at 12 noon on Feb. 26 at New Mt. Gillian MB Church in Byhalia. Burial was in Pleasant Grove MB Church Cemetery in Red Banks. Rev. Charles Gillespie officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Laura Black-Isom; a daughter, Elysia Susanne Denay Isom of Byhalia; two sons, Kyler JaCoby Richmond, Dennis Orlando Isom Jr., both of Byhalia; and a brother, Vance Lee Smith of Byhalia.
Loreaner Jones
Loreaner Jones, 87, of Ashland, died Feb. 16, 2014, at Ashland Health & Rehab. She was a retired domestic worker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 22 at Antioch MB Church in Red Banks, where she was a member. Burial was in McCraven Cemetery in Victoria. Rev. Joe T. Lester officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her brother, Percy Jones of Holly Springs; and a caregiver, her niece Beatrice Wilson of Memphis, Tenn.
Dr. Benjamin F. Martin III
Dr. Benjamin F. Martin III, 75, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 24, 2014. A Methodist, he was a retired pathologist.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 at First United Methodist Church with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sons, Ben Martin IV (Tara) of Bowling Green, Ky., Morgan Martin (Lesley Bozeman) of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Dr. Henry Sullivant of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Margaret Brown of Holly Springs; and two grandchildren.
Frank Moore
Frank Moore, 94, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 18, 2014, at Methodist Hospital of Olive Branch. He was the widower of Zela Jones Moore. He was a church deacon, a member of Masonic Lodge and a retired school bus driver and custodian for Galena School and Marshall County Schools.
Visitation will be Feb. 28 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and March 1 from 9-9:55 a.m. at the church.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on March 1 at Mt. Peel Church in Laws Hill, where he was a member. Burial will be in Chulahoma MB Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rev. Rondias Cox will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five children, Willie L. Moore, Charles Moore, both of Holly Springs, Frank Moore Jr. of Kansas City, Kan., Delcine Ball of Chicago, Ill., Carrie Mae Reynolds of Laws Hill.
He was preceded in death by two daughter, Zadie Moore and Ora Lee Jones.
Brenda Joyce May
Brenda Joyce May, 64, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 21, 2014, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Larry West officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Lee May; a son, Jeremy May (Lora) of Byhalia; a sister, Gail Johnston (Randy) of Hernando; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer.
