Robert Eric Smith
Robert Eric Smith, 49, of Holly Springs, died March 21, 2014, at N. Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia. He was a Christian, employed in manufacturing and a U.S. Army veteran of Somalia.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Melissa Anne Smith; his mother, Barbara Smith of Holly Springs; two daughters, Barbara Faye Watts of Oak Ridge, Chrystal Brook Wilson of Blue Ridge, Va.; his stepson, Jeremy Giles of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Brian Keith Smith of Holly Springs, Charles Hunter Smith of Kinder, La.; two sisters, Leah Berryhill of Potts Camp, Robin Barwick of Laurel; and four grandchildren.
Amanda Jo Smith
Amanda Jo Smith, 32, was born November 21, 1981, and died March 12, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, MS. She was a member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Byhalia and was employed by Desoto Industries after graduating from Olive Branch High School in 2000.
Amanda was a special angel to all who knew her. She was a gift to all her family and friends. Amanda wore a smile unlike any other. She made those around her feel happy, thankful and blessed when feeling down. Amanda’s family feels truly blessed that they were chosen by God to be the ones who Amanda shared her time on earth with.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. The services were officiated by Brother Oscar Geeslin and Brother Jimmy Willbanks. Michelle Houston, who worked with Amanda at Desoto Industries, was an honored speaker.
One quote that was read at Amanda’s services by Ms. Houston that the family would like to share is a quote by Helen Keller. “That which we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us” is providing them comfort during this time.
Amanda leaves behind her mother Faye Smith (Charles) of Byhalia; two brothers Jeff Smith (Patricia) and Timothy Smith, both of Byhalia. She also leaves behind three nephews and one niece. Many cousins will also mourn the loss of Amanda Jo.
She was preceded in death by her father James D. Smith and a brother, Tracy Smith (Shelly).
Pallbearers were Christian Courson, Bobby Cox, Joey Cox, Ashby Evans, Hunter Huff, Kros Joyner, John David Lawson, Joey Massey, and Christopher Smith.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in remembrance of Amanda Jo Smith to Olive Branch Shriners Club due to their extended support to those with physical disabilities.

Lucile Wright Irby Smith
Hendersonville, NC
Mrs. Lucile Wright Irby Smith, 99, of Hendersonville passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Spring Arbor.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Holly Springs, Mississippi, the daughter of E. Clyde and Laura Elise Holmes Wright. She attended M.S.C.W. and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in English from Ole Miss. She was a retired English teacher of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Smith was a member of Cummings Memorial Methodist Church, former member of the United Methodist Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, Tri Delta and the A.A.U.W. She served as a Red Cross volunteer, a Boy Scouts den mother and a Brownie Scout leader. She loved to dance and was a supporter of Big Band music.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her second husband, Jodie Smith, her first husband and father of her children, Pleasant Eugene Irby, son-in-law, Robert Gibb Pratt, brothers-in-law; Pratt, Craft and Bud Irby, and sister-in-law, Leola Rice.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Michael E. Irby and wife Constance of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Elise Irby Pratt of Hendersonville; stepson, Robert Smith and wife Sharon of Villa Rica, Ga.; stepdaughter, Anna Morey and husband George of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cummings Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 759, Horse Shoe, NC 28742.

Oliver Manning Burch III
Oliver Manning Burch III, 86, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 14, 2013, at his home. He was the widower of Carrie Hurdle Burch and Carol Clayton Burch. He was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Augusta, Ga. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs, a pharmacist and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Dalton officiated.
He leaves a daughter, Beckey Burch House (Kenneth) of Decatur, Ala.; five sons, Manny Burch (Betty) of Holly Springs, Paul Burch (Barbara) of Mt. Pleasant, Mims Clayton (Barbie) of Memphis, Tenn., Drew Clayton (Lori) of Tupelo, Van Clayton (Kelly) of Forrest; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs.
Elmo Clark Sr.
Elmo Clark Sr., 74, of Byhalia, died Nov. 10, 2013, at Methodist Healthcare in Olive Branch. He was the widower of Mary Louise Clark.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church - Wall Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor Willie James Taylor officiated. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five sons, Elmo Clark Jr. (Debra) of Ripley, Monroe Clark (Terri) of Jackson, Cleven Clark, Jeffery Clark (Vickie) of Byhalia, Terry Clark (Janfur) of Holly Springs; three daughters, Mary Stanback of Chicago, Ill., Cora Collins of Holly Springs, Beverly Higginbottom Marcus) of Cordova, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Clark of Olive Branch; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gregory Stanback, Marcus Higginbottom, Floyd Collins Jr., Kenneth Johnson, Tavish Clark and Marco Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Elmo Clark Jr., Monroe Clark, Cleveland Clark, Terry Clark and Jeffery Clark.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Clark, a brother and a sister.
William D. Floyd
William D. Floyd, 67, of Coldwater, died Nov. 9, 2013. He was a member of Still Waters Church. He retired from the City of Olive Branch where he worked as a maintenance supervisor.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Greenleaf Cemetery in Independence.
He leaves his wife, Judy McBride Floyd; children William D. Floyd Jr., Jason Floyd, Cliff Roberts, Rochelle Mabry; sisters Arleva Bumpas, Martha Hangey, Betty Clayton, Elizabeth Russom; brothers James Floyd and Edward Floyd; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Daniel Husner White
Daniel Husner White, 75, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 17, 2013 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. A retired school teacher in Parkin, Ark., he taught math and science for 33 years. He was a member of St. Paul CME Church in Holly Springs, on the steward board, trustee board, was Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher, was on the finance committee and church treasurer. He worked for the Forestry Service and was a school bus driver.
Visitation will be Nov. 22 from 2-7 p.m. and with family from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home and Nov. 23 from 10-10:55 at the church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 23 at St. Paul CME Church with burial in Charity Hill Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rev. Charles Edward Dooley will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Florean Johnson Seay White; two daughters, Carol White Richard (Bennie) of Greenville, Charita White Fason (Derrick) of Bartlett, Tenn.; three sons, Norris Seay (Tharon) of Memphis, Tenn., Patrick Seay (Alma) of Holly Springs, Dedrial Seay of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Joycestine Robertson (Joe Earl) of Holly Springs; and 15 grandchildren.
Marvin Lucas Jr.
Marvin Lucas Jr., 25, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 11, 2013, in Little Rock, Ark. He was a member of Bell Grove MB Church, an active member of the Army National Guard, a musician and a former laborer with a trucking company.
Services were held at 12 noon on Nov. 16 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Bell Grove MB Church Cemetery. Pastor Mark Davis officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Diana Richmond Lucas of Holly Springs; his father, Marvin Lucas Sr. of Holly Springs; and three sisters, Latarsha Lucas, Felicia Lucas-Davis, both of Holly Springs and Monica Lucas of Starkville.
