Ruth A. Jones
Ruth A. Jones, 86, of Victoria, formerly of Long Island, N.Y., died Jan. 10, 2005 at Trinity Missions in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Johnnie L. Jones.
Services were held at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Calverton National VA Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y.
She leaves two sons, Clifton L. Jones Sr. of Henderson, Nev., Walter L. Jones Sr. of Victoria; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her youngest grandson, Walter L. Jones Jr.
Olivia Moore Pryor
Olivia Moore Pryor, 87, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 13, 2005 at home. She was the widow of James Oliver Moore and James Harold Pryor.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 15 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery in Holly Springs.
She leaves three sons, Sonny Moore, Jerry Moore, James Pryor Jr., all of Holly Springs; two daughters, Mary Dale Pryor, Paula Ann Pryor, both of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Sam Moore.
Pallbearers were David Pryor, Ronnie Pryor, Dupre Strickland, Monty Strickland, Ronnie Johnson, Larry Wilkinson.
Lucille C. Sullivan
Lucille C. Sullivan, 95, of Hickory Flat, died Jan. 11, 2005 at Tallahatchie Extended Care in Charleston. She was the widow of Wyatt Sullivan and an employee with a grocery store.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Hickory Flat Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Thompson, Rev. William Phillips, Rev. Johnny Rakestraw officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Carol Sturgis of Enid; two sons, Oneil Sullivan of Naylor, Mo., Harold Sullivan of Hickory Flat; a sister, Etoyle Gaddis of Kennett, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steve Sullivan, Roger Sullivan, Greg Sturgis, Dale Sturgis, Harold Sullivan Jr., Terry Sullivan.
The family requests memorials be made to Hickory Flat Baptist Church.
Butler Young
Butler (Doomer) Young, 75, of Victoria, died Jan. 12, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Henrietta Taylor Young.
Services were held at Antioch MB Church in Victoria, where he was a member. Burial was in McCraven Cemetery in Victoria. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three daughters, Naomi Young, Octavia Young, both of Red Banks, Mary Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; seven sons, Lorenzo Young, Wade Young, Boyce Young, all of Red Banks, Winfred Young, Chester Young, both of Victoria, Melvin Young, Norris Malone, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Helen Lucas, Myrtle Young, both of Victoria; four brothers, Elautry Young Jr., Willie Young, both of Victoria, Raymond Young, Dewitt Young, both of Memphis; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Butler Young Jr.
Pallbearers were Martin Reed, Milton Parker, Nathan Payne, Johnny Zinn, Lawrence Wooten, Wallace Young, Tony Young. Honorary pallbearers were John D. McAuley, Jerome Young, James Earl Lucas, Andrew Lucas Jr., Phillip Lucas, Thelma Tunstall, George Young.

Jane C. Collins, 82, of Holly Springs, died July 17, 2005 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Leo Collins, a member of Beverly Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, an usher, a member of the stewardess board, a member of Cemetery (plot) Committee of Beverly Chapel CME Church, and a retired nurse assistant.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jul 23 at Jones Grove MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two nieces who cared for her, Zelma Smith-Wiley, Bobbie Mitchell, both of Holly Springs.
Pallbearers were John Faulkner, LaJuan Jones, Anthony Jones, Nathaniel Johnson Jr., Michael Smith, Michael Johnson, Tyrone Smith. Catherine C. Green, 66, of Tupelo, formerly of Senatobia, died July 17, 2005 in Holly Springs. She was a retired school teacher, a member of North Green Street Church of Christ in Tupelo, former president of the Ladies Way Maker Inc., a member of M.A.E. and NEA Teacher Association, and a member of NCNW.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jul 23 at Thyatira Church of Christ in Senatobia. Burial was in Carter Memorial Sunset Garden in Senatobia. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Melvin D. Green; two sons, Parrish L. Green, Rock Hill, S.C., Stanley L. Green, Charlotte, N.C.; her stepmother, Beauty B. Cathey; five sisters, Thelma L. Davis of Gary, Ind., Marion Holly, Bobbie Jean Thornton, Ruby White, all of Memphis, Tenn., Josephine Boyce of Collierville, Tenn.; four brothers, Moses Cathey of Memphis, Robert James Cathey of Markham, Ill., Charles Cathey of Chicago, Ill., John E. Lonnie Hughes, 78, of Holly Springs, died July 19, 2005 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was retired from Reynolds Metal in Lyon, Ill.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on July 20 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joe T. Lester officiated.
He leaves a daughter, Fannie L. Lampley of Holly Springs; three sons, Gerome Hughes of Chicago, Ill., Edward Hughes of Holly Springs, Rodney Eric Young of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two sisters, LeGusta Dowdy, Valcine H. Nunnally, both of Memphis, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Era Durelle Mincey
Era Durelle Mincey, 72, of Waterford, died July 22, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Robert J. Mincey and a school bus driver.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on July 26 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Laws Hill, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Arnold Goode officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Debra Bramlett of Winona; a brother, James V. Weatherington of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Sue Willis of Clinton; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joel Harris.
