Tim C. Davis, 62, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 11, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a factory worker.
Services were held at 12 noon on Aug. 13 at Chulahoma Baptist Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Street Hill Church Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sisters, Thelma L. Smith of Holly Springs, Ivory Martin of Chicago, Ill.; and a brother, Grant Davis of Byhalia.
Ruby Pauline McGreger
Ruby Pauline McGreger, 83, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 20, 2005 at Baptist Hospital DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of William Lee McGreger, a member of New Harmony Baptist Church and a nursing assistant with Care Inn Nursing Home.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Waterford. Bro. Mickey Hoyle officiated.
She leaves three sons, David McGreger of Byhalia, Billy McGreger of Holly Springs, Ray McGreger of Silverdale, Wash.; a daughter, Bonnie Ryerson of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; a brother, Thurman Young of Olive Branch; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby McGreger.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Bevel, Mickey Bevel, Wayne McGreger, Jerry McGreger, Randy Young, Eddie Young. Honorary pallbearers were Todd McGreger, Chris Campbell, Shane McGreger, Mark Ryerson, Raymond McGreger and Travis McGreger.
Ethel C. Ormon
Ethel C. Ormon, 102, of Ashland, died Aug. 20, 2005 at Ave Marie Home in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Robert Lee Ormon and a member of Ashland United Methodist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Rev. William Kemp and Rev. Glen Hudspeth officiated.
She leaves two daughters, Betty Rutherford of Memphis, Tenn., Nancy Grisanti of Princeton, Texas.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Ashland Methodist Church.
Kalvin L. Pointer
Kalvin L. Porter, 28, of Moscow, Tenn., died Aug. 13, 2005 at the home of his aunt in Moscow. He attended Fayette Ware High School in Somerville, Tenn. He was disabled.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Sims Chapel MB Church in Michigan City. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Calvin Mason officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sons, Kevin Williams, LaQuan Williams, TeShaun Williams, all of Somerville, Tenn.; his adopted mother, Elsie Mason of Moscow, Tenn.; his mother, Carolyn Pointer of Memphis, Tenn.; his father, Julius Ayers of Memphis, Tenn.; and two brothers.
Pallbearers were Randy Hampton, Kelvin Anderson, Antonia Anderson, Marquett Maxwell, T.D. Big Red. Honorary pallbearers were Tommie Mason, Robert Watkins, Edward Lewis, Sam Franklin, John Franklin and Charles Craig.
Lavern White
Lavern White, 65, of New Albany, died Aug. 13, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was retired from Mohasco Furniture Plant after many years of work.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Pleasant Grove MB Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Thomas Wilson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Shirley Harden of New Albany; a son, Walter White of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, James White of Alexandria, Va., Currly White of Modesto, Calif.; four sisters, Irene Jackson of Monterey, Calif., Mary Pewett of Aurora, Ill., Carrie Murphy of Pasadena, Calif., Nettie Smith of Eltadino, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Ross Wilson Jr.
Ross Wilson Jr., 73, of New Albany, died Aug. 15, 2005 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a saw mill worker most of his life.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 20 at Mallalieu U.M. Church in New Albany. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in New Albany. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Nora Mae Wilson; two sons, Joe and Sam Wilson, all of New Albany; a brother, W.C. Wilson of Tupelo; a sister, Virga King of College Park, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Graham.
Brenda White Anderson
Brenda White Anderson, 49, of Memphis, Tenn., died Aug. 22, 2005 at her home. She was a pawn broker with Best Pawns in Memphis.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 26 at Bethlehem MB Church in Memphis, where she was a member. Burial was in Greenwood MB Church Cemetery in Lamar. Rev. O.C. Collins Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Clinton Anderson; two daughters, Ericka Nicole Anderson, Elexis Alexandria Anderson, both of Memphis; a son, Eric Desmond Anderson of Memphis; a stepson, Everest Booker of Memphis; her mother, Ella Mae Washington White of Benton County; four sisters, Jacqueline Shine, Margaree White, both of Lamar, Lejoyi Pollard of Memphis, Collin Wesson of Jonesboro, Ga.; a brother, Otis White Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father; Otis White and two sisters, Sandra White, Lena Trice.
Pallbearers were Charles White, Benjamin Pollard, Michael Lewis, Corey White, Marlon Pollard, Morris Lewis and Joshua Cole.
James Earl Fisher
James Earl Fisher, 57, of Memphis, Tenn., died Aug. 23, 2005 at his home. He was a former member of Smith Chapel CME Church, East St. Peter, and current member of New Salem M.B. Church.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at T.O.M.B. Association Building in Oxford. Burial was in East St. Peter Cemetery in Abbeville. Rev. William Woods officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sisters, Mary Louise Martin of Oxford, Jessie Williams, Linda Williams, both of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Guy Fisher of Fairfield, Calif., Kenneth Fisher of New Orleans, La., Robert Williams of Memphis; and his stepfather, Lee Williams of Oxford.
Pallbearers were Victor Martin, David Fisher, Fredrick Phillips, Jeffery Martin, Al Frierson and Curtis Robinson.
