Wilma Blondine Renick Bumpas, 92, of Ashland, died April 13, 2006 at Baptist Memorial in New Albany. She was a retired teacher. She was the widow of Oscar Douglas Bumpas.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 17 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Ashland, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Carlie Wilson of Ashland; and two brothers, J.L. Renick of Memphis, Tenn., Rev. Percy Renick of Memphis, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Cliff Ormon, Matt Ormon, Blake Ormon, Brandon Wilson, Austin Thompson and Joe Clayton.
Alleen Richards Carpenter
Alleen Richards Carpenter, 92, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Ashland, died April 7, 2006 at Seasons Hospice & Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. She was the widow of Walter Carpenter and a member of Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on April 14 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Samuel Chapel MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Woody Jordan officiated.
She leaves a brother, Bishop Allen T. Richards of Ashland; two sisters, Mona Harris of Memphis, Tenn., Veolia Parker of Chicago, Ill.; a dear niece who cared for her during her illness, Lavonne Harris of Chicago; and a grandson, Gene Ross of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Carpenter; five brothers and two sisters, Baby Cornelius, Frank, Andrew (Jack), James, Booker T., Grace Richards and Clinthia Richards.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
James Franklin Culbert
James Franklin Culbert, 38, of Mt. Pleasant, died April 16, 2006 at his home. He was a Baptist and disabled.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on April 18 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
He leaves a daughter, Samantha Culbert of Collierville; his father, Charles Willis of Mt. Pleasant; his grandmother, Nellie Wilson of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Angie Hubbard of Mt. Pleasant; two nephews, Bradley Hubbard, Brett Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Wilson Willis.
Karen Jeanette Davis
Karen Jeanette (Jan) Davis, 54, of Red Banks, died April 11, 2006 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. She was a Baptist and an insurance agent with Crain and Moore Insurance.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 14 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Dr. Curtis Ferrell officiated.
She leaves her husband, Steven M. Davis; her mother, Nettie Skelton of Holly Springs; two sisters, Pamela E. Hurdle of Holly Springs, Becky Harris of Memphis, Tenn.; and two nephews, David and Daniel Harris of Memphis, Tenn.
James Henry Holmes
James Henry Holmes, 81, of Holly Springs, died April 12, 2006 at Trinity Missions Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. He was a Baptist.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on April 15 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Barton Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. John McMullen officiated.
He leaves a brother, John Wayne Holmes of Byhalia.
Pallbearers were Guy Lynn, Eddie Mills, Mark Mills, Ricky Holmes, Buster Holmes and Larence Mills.
Richard Brewer Loftin
Richard Brewer Loftin, 53, of Mt. Pleasant, died April 14, 2006 at his home. He was owner of Loftin’s Construction and Asphalt.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 18 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Yearber and Rev. G.R. Travis officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Linda Ballard Loftin; a son, Richard B. Loftin of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Leah Loftin, Anna Loftin Teague, both of Collierville, Tenn.; his parents, Ralph and Ella Jean Loftin of Mt. Pleasant; his brother, Joseph Loftin of Potts Camp; a sister, Susan Loftin Snipes of Collierville; and four grandchildren.
Jackie Fay Richards
Jackie Fay Richards, 70, of Byhalia, died April 11, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven. She was the widow of Charles William Richards. She was a Baptist.
There will be no funeral services. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Jerry Richards of Red Banks; two daughters, Kay Truelove of Jackson, Lynn Summerford of Byhalia; four sisters, Gladys Jackson of Elba, Ala., Mary Johnson of Cleveland, Doris Watts, Fran Herring, both of Tupelo; four brothers, Doug Truelove of Kosciusko, Gene Truelove of Mendenhall, James Truelove of Jackson, Bill Truelove of Utica; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Truelove, Geneva Mansell; and two brothers, Ray Truelove, Harvey Truelove.
Jerry Wilkins
Jerry (Big Jerry) Wilkins, 64, of Holly Springs, died April 12, 2006 in Springfield, Mo. He served as constable in Holly Springs for more than 16 years.
Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on April 17 at Rising Star MB Church. Pastor Robert McClain officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a sister, Dorothy Anderson of Holly Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
