Gregg Steven Looney
Gregg Steven Looney, 43, of Byhalia, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at his home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on March 11 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, Pamela Looney; three daughters, Jessi Underwood of Texas, Nicole Pounders, Rachel Myers, both of Olive Branch; a son, Randy Looney of Byhalia; his mother, Mary E. Looney of Byhalia; a brother, Mike Looney of Olive Branch; a sister, Cindy Baker of Arkansas; and a granddaughter.
Eugene Andrew Rhea
Eugene Andrew Rhea, 84, of Hickory Flat, died March 10, 2006 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Cornersville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 12 at United Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in Cornersville Cemetery. Rev. Joe Epting officiated.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Wayne Brownlee Rhea of Holly Springs; two daughters, Brenda Kay Brownlee of Potts Camp, Dorothy Jean Mauldin of Tupelo; two sons, Larry A. Rhea of Hickory Flat; Terry Lee Rhea of Saltillo; a brother, Coleman Rhea of Hickory Flat; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clifford Hancock, Allen Hancock, David Rhea, James Rhea and Kenneth Rhea.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, E.J. Rhea and Leroy Hancock; a daughter, Shelia Rhea Forester and a grandson, Justin Allen Jackson.
C.L. Wilkins
C.L. Wilkins, 56, of Memphis, Tenn., died March 2, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was a member of Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church in Memphis and a member of Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge #39. He was an application’s development analyst and computer programmer for International Paper in Memphis.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 9 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Willie F. Jeffries officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Cellistean Pryor Wilkins; two daughters, Beverly Wilkins, Tina Johnson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Earye Bridgeforth Wilkins of Holly Springs; five sisters, Patty Wilkins of Holly Springs, Catherine Wilson of Phoenix, Ariz., Charlene Burch of Olive Branch, Velvet Barrino of Holly Springs, Shirley Mosley of Memphis; two brothers, Aaron Wilkins III of Holly Springs, Milton Wilkins of St. Louis, Mo.; and a grandson.
Pallbearers were Christopher Wilkins, Gregory Thompson, Aaron Wilkins IV, Kenneth Bunch, Miguel Barrino, Eric Wilson, Clifton Thompson and T.J. Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Youngblood, A.C. Rayford, Willie Jeffries, James Alford, Sam Faulkner and Clarence Faulkner.
Catherine Rayford Clark
Catherine Rayford, Clark, 88, of Byhalia, died Feb. 22, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Jimmy Clark and a former church usher.
Services were held at 12 noon on March 2 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, where she was a member. Burial was in Strickland UM Church Cemetery. Rev. Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves seven daughters, Sarah Guy of Southaven, Mary Davis, Ida Salter, Lutricia McCoy, all of Memphis, Tenn., Joyce Guy, Elaine Totten, Bettie Stewart, all of Holly Springs; three sons, E.T. Rayford, Leroy Clark, both of Byhalia, Leslie Clark of Waco, Tx.; a sister, Ola Mae Rayford of Byhalia; a brother, W.C. Rayford of Byhalia; 33 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terrell Newsom, Leonard Davis, James Davis, Melvin Davis, Leo Brown and Eric Totten.
Thelma S. Godfrey
Thelma S. Godfrey, of Holly Springs, died March 2, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare in Holly Springs. She was a Presbyterian and a dry cleaner owner/operator.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. on March 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala.
She leaves two grandsons, Carl Isom of Holly Springs, Chris Isom of Arab, Ala.; two granddaughters, Sharron Ezel of Arab, Ala., Vicki Herndon of Blountsville, Ala.; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and her caregiver, Terry Cagle of Holly Springs.
Eddie James Hudson
Eddie James Hudson, 47, of Michigan City, died Feb. 25, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Collierville, Tenn. He was a member of Southland Singers Gospel Group, and a soil technician with USDA for 28 years.
Services were held at 12 noon on March 4 at Sims Chapel MB Church in Michigan City, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Annie L. Tucker Hudson; two daughters, Kawanda Hudson, Sheketha Hudson, both of Michigan City; two sons, Eddie Martez Hudson, Altaveno Montinez Hudson, both of Michigan City; his mother, Dorothy Louise Jones of Michigan City; his father, Eddie B. Hudson of Memphis, Tenn.; nine sisters, Freda Spight of Lamar, Karen Walker, Cynthia Hudson, Shenika Thomas, Eurtha Jackson, Carolyn Martin, Johnnie Mae Mason, all of Memphis, Tenn., Joyce Hall of Columbus, Mary Long of Ashland; four brothers, Randale Jones of Michigan City, Gregory Hudson, Edward Dewayne Hudson, Deondray Hudson, all of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ashland High School Class of 1976. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Patterson, Mark Hudson, Silas Preston, Melvin Allen, David Hudson and James Preston.
Nathan Isom Jr.
Nathan Isom Jr., 74, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 25, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Louise Hamilton Isom. He was a member of Mt. Teamer CME Church in Holly Springs. He was a construction worker with Continental Foundry in Olive Branch.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 3 at Powell Chapel MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Eddie Walker officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five daughters, Alice Isom of Holly Springs, Sarah Isom, Ruby Isom, both of New Albany, Tamera Isom, Devita Isom, both of Fayetteville, NC; a son, James Isom of Holly Springs; three stepdaughters, Jarceland Nichols, Tanja Brown, Rotosha Sinkfield, all of Holly Springs; a stepson, Darryl Holloway of Holly Springs; a sister, Annie Bell Robinson of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Larry Isom of Holly Springs; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Ronnie Isom, Robert Isom, Darryl Holloway and Jarvis Jeffries.
Simon Lesure
Simon Lesure, 101, of Byhalia, died Feb. 23, 2006 at Trinity Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. He was a laborer with Burlington Northern Railroad.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 1 at St. Matthews MB Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Powell MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Archie Bowen officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Bertha H. Woods-Simpson of Byhalia; a son, Tom Preston Lesure of St. Paul, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lamont Coleman King, Freddie Hodges, McArthur Porter, Clarence Looney, Theodras Hughes, Arthur Martin, Terry Duke and Delantric Hill. Honorary pallbearers were Tracy Hodges, Andre Hodges, Milton Hardin, Tom Preston Lesure, Johnny Hardin, Billy Simpson and Travis Hardin.
